The intrepid trainees stood there dumbly, not wanting to fight, but then Sarah plucked up courage and cast an ice spell at a demon. Without a hesitation, all the demons roared and charged at the men and women. One of the girls and two of the boys began to scramble towards the stairs, but Gregory held out his hand and slammed the door shut with his magic.
“Fight! Fear not, for you will not die. But if you do not fight, you will be wounded.*
*Charrrrge!!!” roared Martin, and he drew his sword, charged it with magic, and stabbed a demon clean in the chest. It screamed as the power imbued in the weapon raced through its veins, killing it quickly.
This encouraged the others, and they all rose into the action wholeheartedly. Blast, slash, crush, parry, the group fought like demons themselves, mercilessly thrashing the creatures.
After ten minutes of fighting, the demons finally laid prostrate, most of them cut into many pieces.
The exhausted fighters looked up triumphantly.
“Well done! You have fought admirably. Time for the next wave!”
“Next wave?” asked Victoria, her face darkening, “I’m tired! We are all tired, and filthy to boot.”
“Well that is easy to fix if anything is!” Drawing on his lunar abilities, Gregory refreshed all of his friends fully, and then banished the bodies of the demons, which naturally also cleaned the men and women.
“You see, since I summoned the demons, I can banish them whenever I wish, and so I can simply banish their remains to clean you up. See, you are no longer coated in blood. A bit sweaty, perhaps, but you are refreshed. Let the battles continue!”
He summoned another set of demons, slightly larger, a few more then before, and more aggressive, and this time, his friends had no hesitation. They all charged outwards with one accord, to begin their battle anew.
