I've read through most of your writings here, and I have to say I'm extremely impressed! I didn't understand the meanings of some of your parables, but that didn't prevent my enjoyment of them. I also find your spread of vocabulary to be incredible and quite impressive.
"Anointed One" seems like a sort of Biblical allegory. Am I correct? Even if it's not, I notice you have some sort of theological knowledge as you use "Where, O death, is your sting?" and "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom" in your stories, both of which are almost direct quotes from the Bible.
I also enjoyed the parallels between the "Tomorrow Soliloquoy" from Shakespeare's *Macbeth* and the dialogue in your story, "The Monologue of J. Alfred Prufrock." Very nice.
As I was reading "The Creature," I realized you were trying to depict the heart of evil, which made me say to myself, "Well if it were me, I would depict a human being." I was extremely pleased to see this depiction at your tale's conclusion.
It's a shame this hasn't gotten more attention. Do you mind if I put this in the "Recommended Reads" column of my thread?

Hello there Yam!
Thank you for reading :) . I really do appreciate it!! And thank you for the kind words! I'm really glad you enjoyed it!
And you are dead on! Anointed one is definitely a Biblical allegory. In fact, a lot of my early posts, as you noticed, are somewhat biblically inspired in some way, shape or form.
Sometimes I really cringe to see my old, immature works. But they are some slight gems of sophistication such as Monologue and In Vinos Vertias. And I'm super glad you've been catching all these allusions I've been embedding in my stories! Definitely with the Macbeth and biblical references!
And please by all means, you can put this on your thread! I am flattered and humbled that you would do so :) . Please direct me to some of your threads, so I could possibly return back the favor! Although I'm not really active anymore here... but hopefully I can make an exception!
If you're still interested in some of my works, you should definitely check out "Odyssey: A Quest for Fiction," which is kinda of a highbrow satirical play, and "quick brown fox jumps over," which is a stream of consciousness somewhat modeled on the Catcher in the Rye. Anyways, I really do appreciate you taking some of your time in reading! It means alot! And please, let me try to return the favor by stopping by some of your threads!

Hey, thanks for being so eager to read some of my stuff! It's nice to see that on this forum. You've already found my thread, "Shorts, Fragments, and Verse"; but I do have another. It's called "Voice From the Shadows (Ext.)". It's something I did two years ago, and I think my writing has improved since then. It will probably see a rewrite this summer, but if you'd like to check it out, the QFC is 49-50-572-61305252.
I've already read parts of "quick brown fox jumps over". I actually found it a little depressing, as the truth about society often is, but I like the pinpoint honesty you've put into it.
Would you mind explaining "Anointed One" to me? I think I've figured most of the details out, but I'm not entirely sure if I've got it all pinned down. Here a my thoughts/questions:
1. Who is the alchemist?
2. Are the "Three rings" a reference to the Trinity?
3. I'm slightly confused about the "calm before the storm." Is this the crucifixion?
4. "Sir Vant" seems to be a reference both to the character in-game and to Christ. Didn't Sir Vant battle a three-headed dragon in the caverns under Lumbridge? Notably, this "three-headed tyrant" is also a convenient allusion to the depiction of Satan in Dante's *Inferno*. Very nicely done.
Sorry, I don't mean to insult you by not understanding the story in its fullness. Rather, I'm really impressed you managed to write something that is so deep.

Hey there Yam!
I will definitely try to read some of ya works soon :D , hopefully! And yeah, quick brown fox is abit of a depression read definitely. Um but if you the read final post I have, I really change up the style of the narrative. It's alot more figurative and poetic, as opposed to grimy and hard haha.
As for Annointed One, you are not insulting me in slightest! Are you kidding me? I'm actually kinda really stoked and surprised that you're getting all these things right!
1. I'm not exactly sure what the alchemist was when I first wrote if I remember correctly. I just kinda like the image and word of it. Kinda lends something mythic to the narrative. And I basically want it for the image of "Light." Kind of left it to creative licence and ambiguity. But I mean you could possibly interpret it to be God the Father. And that's probably how I rationalized myself to think of it know that I think about it because he is watching what is unfolding. Oh btw, um three rings and a light are like the referencing the actual high alchemy spell in game before they changed it. So yeah, if that makes more sense?? It's kinda ify b/c there also were 3 lights, but oh well haha.
2. I mean definitely plausible interpretation. I mean literally anything related to three in something remotely biblical should be taken as something trinitarian related haha. What I had in mind though was that these three rings would be three days the King would have to spend in death before he is resurrected on the third day with the "Light." This doesn't really make chronological sense. But you can interpret it as prophecy foretelling what will happen or the omniscient Alchemist seeing into the future.
3. It's kinda just an epic phrase haha. But it's just referencing how everything has built up the fulfillment of this prophecy. It's just been this culmination to this moment of time when the King would fufill his "Destiny!" and prophecy.

4. And you dead-on right! I'm really, really glad that you got the main part of the allegory correctly! Sir Vant is defintely a stand-in for Christ and the three-headed dragon is conviently a stand-in for the devil. Although, I didn't know it was necessarily a Dante's allusion, but I'm pretty sure in Revelations Satan is depicted as a three-headed dragon. And exactly, Sir Vant really did kill a dragon in-game, which perfectly worked out for me! Furthermore, I also happened to rationalize that Sir Vant would be good stand-in for Christ as his name, as with all knights, is a a homonym for Servant, which fits with the story where Jesus washes Peter's feet. Also, "Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master..." from said passage. It kind of succinctly characterizes the King in the allegory, especially if we willingly killed by the dragon "with no armour."
And so basiclly, "devoured; blood" would be the actual instance of the crucifixion when he is consumed by death and by the dragon.
And this line: "Triumph; His heel bruised, the Serpent's head crushed!" is reference to Genesis 3:15, which I learned is like a Old Testament prophecy that foreshadows the very act of crucifixion. The verse is "And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel." This was a really, really cool verse when I learnt it. It's just mind boggling. This was probably the verse that inspired me to write this allegory. It's just phenomenal. This is basically when God is giving out the curses after the Fall of Man, and this verse is saying how God will put enmity between Satan and the Woman, betwen Satan's offspring and Eve's seed (Jesus). How Jesus will be bruised (crucified), but he will crush Satan's head (Resurrect from the dead, salvation made possible). I actually recently learned a fancy term for this verse this year from college called "protevangelium," when we read Paradise Lost.

Thanks for the explanation! It does make a lot of sense, and I can see why it scored so highly. I also saw the whole "Sir Vant = servant" thing, but for some reason, I forgot to say anything about it.
I've also heard that Genesis 3:15 is the first prophecy regarding the resurrection of Christ, so it's interesting to hear that someone else has as well.
Some of my writings tend to be symbolic as well. You can find some of them on my thread, "Shorts, Fragments, and Verse", which you've already been kind enough to profile. I hope you enjoy them.
And I'll definitely have to take another look at "quick brown fox jumps over" when I get a chance.
