Damis launched a kick at Azzanadra, who dodged, letting his foe's leg land harmlessly at his side. Azzanadra then picked up Damis by the leg and threw him backwards toward the hatch.
"No!" yelled Kamil, understanding Azzanadra's new strategy.
Damis took one bounce and hit the open hatch door, which caused him to fall into the gap. However, he caught his hand on the rim of the chasm, preventing himself from falling into the pyramid.
Azzanadra had no time to continue trying to force Damis into the shaft, for he had to fend off attacks from the three others. In an instant, ice and fire flooded the platform around him. Azzanadra jumped out of the way, off onto one of the sloping faces of the pyramid. Above him, he saw a group of four shadowy bats emerge from the smoke and zero in on his position. They shot out of the sky, dive bombing in formation.
Azzanadra picked two of them off with a couple of well-aimed lightning bolts, and then he leapt aside to dodge the remaining pair. They scraped the stone as they passed, scarring the pyramid's face. Azzanadra fired two more bolts, doing away with the threat.
By this time, Fareed and Kamil had realized where he had gone. He saw Fareed's head appear over the side, and it was followed closely by a torrent of fire. Azzanadra jumped aside just in time as the flames scorched the pyramid beneath him.
Kamil, however, had joined Azzanadra on the side of the pyramid. He ran down the corner of the structure, firing ice barrages sideways at the Mahjarrat.
Azzanadra sent waves of electricity back, disintegrating the ice. He barely had time to react before Damis reappeared, his black blade bared to strike. Azzanadra pulled his steel scimitar from his belt and responded in kind. The swords clashed, and Azzanadra soon became aware how adept in swordplay Damis was. He fired off barrages that Azzanadra saved sometimes by the tip of his sword. The soldier attacking swiftly and with conviction, wearing down Azzanadra's defenses.
