Chapter 3: Conflict

Cassius cuts through a large crowd of demonic Black Knights with his Dragon two-handed sword. He impaled a Black Knight in the gut, a Black Knight was about to hurt Cassius but he quickly kicked the knight's knee so hard that he popped the knee out of place. Cassius quickly pulls his sword out of the Black Knight and impaled it into the ground. A large red light flashed from the ground, causing surrounding knights to get cut deeply.

20 knights laid on the ground, either dead or barely alive. Cassius smiles evilly. "C'mon. Is that all you got?" Cassius taunted. The Black Knights took a few steps back in a bit of intimidation. Cassius giggled a bit.

Heinreich Kvetch jumps in-front of Cassius and waved his left index finger left and right. He smiled, showing his extremely long and sharp teeth. "Aren't ve very confidant? Kekekeke." Kvetch said. "What!? You want to die too!?" Kvetch grabbed Cassius by the throat and began choking him.

Anna shot a Wind Wave at Kvetch's right arm -- which was the arm he held Cassius in. He quickly dodges the attack and looked over at Anna. He smiled at her. Roy looked at Anna. "Switch to your Steel Shortsword; magic won't be able to hit him." Roy suggested. Anna nodded her head. "Right." she replied. Anna put her White Staff away and pulled out her Steel Shortsword.

In one blink of an eye, Angelo appeared in-front of Roy and Anna. Their expressions were shocked. Angelo grabbed Roy by the throat and threw him 20 feet away. Angelo quickly appeared behind Anna, turned her around facing him, punched her in the gut 5 times, punched her several times in the face, kneed her in the gut, and with his left leg kicked her away all in lighting speed. Angelo walked over to Roy and kicked him while he was down.

"Get up." Angelo said. The boy wearing a Highwayman mask walked over to Angelo and pointed one of his dual black shortswords at Angelo's throat. Angelo looked at the boy. "And what might you want?" he asked. "Where is the Staff of Armadyl!?" the boy shouted. Angelo shrugs. Telling the boy he doesn't know where the staff is. "You do know -- where is it!?" the boy continued to demand information.

Angelo suddenly disappeared, the boy looked for Angelo and saw him at the southern side of the room, the farthest side. Angelo again disappears -- only this time he is unable to be found. "Dammit!" the boy growled. Roy rose back onto his feet, he looked over at Anna -- concerned for her life; he ran over. "Anna!? Are you alright!?" Roy shouted.

Angelo suddenly appeared again, only right behind Roy. "It's no use, she's lost consciousness." Angelo mumbled. Roy turns his head and looks behind him. Angelo had disappeared again. "C'mon man -- this just isn't right." Roy shouted. "Where did you go!?"

Roy quickly turns around. However, right after he does, he gets a punch in the gut. Angelo began punching Roy all over his torso. After 50 punches in the blink of an eye, Roy falls to his knees -- with blood pouring from out of his mouth.

"It's over." Angelo whispered to Roy. "You're too weak; too imperfect." Roy falls to the ground on his back and loses consciousness. Angelo looks over at the boy with the Highwayman mask.

"Sir Issac Williams Fitzgerald III, am I right? Why do you desire the Staff of Armadyl?" Angelo asked.

"That's none of your concern." he replied.

"Is it?" Angelo disappears and re-appears behind Issac. "Well, I can tell you one thing about the Staff of Armadyl and I can help you find it."

"Can you?"

"Of course."

"Why are you offering me this? How would this benefit you?"

"I have my ideas."

"Oh really?" Issac turns around to face Angelo. But when he turned around, he had a puzzled look on his face -- Angelo wasn't there.

"Where are you?"

"Become a Black Knight and I promise you you'll find the Staff of Armadyl rather quickly -- think about it."

Issac looked around to find Angelo but he was unable to be found. Back over to the fight, Cassius continues to attack Kvetch but he moved too quickly so Cassius was unable to hit him. "Stop moving!" Cassius shouted. Kvetch jumped over Cassius and revealed a shortsword that was hidden under his sleeve.

"Kekekeke." Kvetch laughed. Cassius turned around and got impaled by Kvetch's shortsword. He was impaled in the gut, blood poured out from his mouth. Kvetch pulled out his sword and jumped back. "Ah, I see. You aren't Human after all, are you?" Kvetch said. Cassius' breathing got heavier and his vision got blurry.

Kvetch smiles. "Time for dinner..kekeke." Kvetch charged at Cassius. Cassius quickly swung his Dragon 2h and cuts off Kvetch's left arm. Kvetch looked at his left arm. "You're in a bad mood, eh?" Cassius smirked . "I'm never in a good one." he replied. Suddenly, something was coming out of Kvetch's left arm -- it was an entirely new left arm! Cassius' eyes widened with an expression of disbelief. Kvetch giggled.

"W-what the hell are you!!?"

"Come on soldier, I'm sure you've seen vorse outcomes in battle, right?"

"What kind of creature are you!!?"

"Now you're just sounding like those kids back at that private school I vent to -- oh sorry, I mean those headless kids..kekeke.."

"Dammit, there's no way I can win." Cassius said to himself. He jumps over to the unconscious bodies of his allies. He puts 3 Astral runes, 3 Law runes, and 15 Water runes on the ground. The runes began to glow. The three are whisked away to Catherby. There, White Knights see the three and run over to them.

"You're Cassius, right?" The knight asked. "Are you okay?"

"I've got a hole in my gut that's bleeding and I'm slowly but surely dying -- does that seem 'okay' to you?"

"Alright, alright -- sheesh." the knight looked at the other two. "What about them? Are they okay?"

"Angelo just knocked them out so I'm sure they're fine."

"W-wait!? Angelo was there!?"

"Pretty much -- he was there knighting Heinreich Kvetch to become a Black Knight."

"Now we're dealing with that assassin!? I must report this to-"

"No, you won't. It is my responsibility to tell Deus."

"But first things first, you need to be healed."

After about 2 hours, Roy woke up on a bed. His eyes scanned the room trying to find out where he was. He realizes that he was in he and Anna's room. He looks over at Anna's bed and her eyes were closed, she was either still unconscious or asleep. Roy noticed he had bandages around his ribs, he got up from his bed and started walking to Deus' office.

When he got to Deus' office door, he grabs the doorknob with his right hand but before he opened the door he heard a conversation in the room. It was between three people, Deus, Cassius and a another young woman.

"So, Angelo hired the infamous assassin Heinreich Kvetch." Deus said.

"Yes." Cassius replied.

"But the question is: why is Angelo getting all these strong and dangerous criminals? First it was Zechariah Aeolus, and now Heinreich Kvetch." the young woman said "I wonder what he is planning.."

"Sergeant Julie is right. There must be something he's going to do with these criminals."

"Can't we just say he's an insane murderer?"

Deus shook his head side to side. "Though that maybe true but there has to be a reason to what he's doing." Deus stood up from his chair. "I need to report this to Commander Jacob."

"I'll come with you." Julie said.

Deus shook his head up and down once. They walked over to the door, Deus extended left hand on the doorknob, twisted the doorknob, and pulled the door out. They saw Roy was standing there in-front of the door.

"What is it Roy?" Deus asked. Roy rubbed the back of his head. "Uh, it seems Cassius beat me to it.." Roy replied. Deus and Julie walked passed Roy but stopped after 5 steps. Deus turned his head and looked at Roy. "Roy, remember what I told you -- lying is never the right thing to do." Deus and Julie walked away after those words. Roy raised an eyebrow, puzzled.

Roy walked into the Deus' office and closed the door behind. Roy looked at Cassius, serious. Cassius crossed his arms and looked at Roy.

"What's that look for?" Cassius asked. "You got a problem -- spit it out."

"I have something to ask you." Roy said.

"What?"

Flashbacks of the moment passed through Roy's mind of seeing Cassius' left eye then seeing his right eye red during the battle at Port Sarim. "During that battle, your eye color for your right eye change -- it was red; care to explain?"

"What? You think I'm one of them?"

"No, I'm not accusing you of anything -- I'm just wondering."

"Well, I'm not one of them."

"Alright."

"Don't believe me?"

"I didn't say that, did I?"

"No, but it's easily heard in your voice."

Deus and Julie arrive at Commander Jacob's office. They knock on his dark gray stone door. Inside the room, Jacob heard the knock on his door and he snapped his left index finger and thumb together. The door opens afterwards. Jacob looked at the two and he realized something was wrong just by looking at their faces. Deus and Julie take five steps into the room and door closes behind them. Jacob looks back at his notes.

"Lieutenant Deus Celino, Sergeant Julie Meirlt. What begins you here today?" Jacob asked.

"Commander Jacob -- we have a problem." Deus replied.

Jacob stops looking at his notes and looks at Deus and Julie. "Yes. I can tell by the look on your faces that it isn't the best of news."

"It seems that Angelo Lysimachus of the Kinshra has hired yet another criminal; the infamous assassin Heinreich Kvetch." Julie said, with a bit of disappointment in her voice.

"Heinreich Kvetch." Jacob sighed. "Not him.."

"More bad news sir -- Cassius has informed us regarding a plan of the Black Knights. They plan to attack Draynor Village sometime this month."

"I've only got one suggestion in mind." he said, with concern in his voice. "We need a new, strong slayer; to fight fire with fire."

"Who do you have in mind sir?"

"Velator, that is who I have in mind."

"Velator? You mean that famous Undead slayer?"

"Indeed, the one and the same -- he is a Saradominist so I believe he might help us."

"If you insist sir."

During the nighttime -- it was 1:34 AM. Cassius remained awake, the top of his head was against the wall with his eyes down filled with sadness. "I can't allow anyone to know, nobody..." he mumbled to himself, with sadness in his voice.
