“Damn it!” the man in blue shouted. His voice had caused a flock of birds to scatter from the trees overhead, but he didn't care. He stood before what appeared to be a wreck of sorts, but what it actually was, he didn't know. Sure, there was the obvious scorch marks in the earth, probably left from the entry landing, but the wreckage itself had a strange quality to it. His identification spells had shown the wood and metal used in the thing to be utterly alien, but beyond that he couldn’t get any more information.

What also puzzled him was that the strange power he felt only two nights ago had led him here, but yet there was nothing in the wreckage capable of even setting his simplest counterspells off. Such a shame, he thought. He knew his superiors wouldn’t be pleased if he didn't produce results soon, and time was of the essence. The Rakshasa he witnessed dueling the Mahjarrat most likely couldn’t be found without extreme measures, and it appeared that his only hope rested on a power he only felt for a brief second.

As he was about to abandon hope completely, he felt it again. The strange power tugged at his senses again, and if he was right it would lead him in the direction of….

“Son of a….how the hell did that happen?!” he shouted. He shook his head in disgust. Either he was losing control of his power, or whatever caused the energy to reveal itself to him was stronger than he first thought if he could lose track of it this easily.

Whatever the case, he knew his destination lay once again where he started. But before he could go back to Ukrosha, he had to check on something else first…..he felt a different, but even stranger power reveal itself at that instant.

Uthalion dodged the beast as it charged him. Rolling into a crouch, he drew twin daggers, made of Katagon as his armor was, and swiped at it. They glanced off of the skeletal armor on its arms, and apparently only succeeded in irritating it.

He cursed, and began to run back the way he came. But the beast was faster, and before Uthalion could reach the door, he found himself in the creature’s grip, staring it in the face. Before he could do anything, the creature tossed him into the air like a rag doll, and he found himself crashing into a balcony of sorts. Looking around, he saw that the door leading out of the balcony was blocked by some kind of force field.

He didn't have much time to think, as the beast appeared before him at that instant, and began advancing much quicker than before. Uthalion tried to strike at it once again, this time aiming for a part of its body which wasn’t armored by the bony material. He felt one of the daggers sink into flesh, and the creature let loose a howl as it stumbled backwards. Using his free dagger, the treasure hunter swiped at a leg, and succeeded in bringing the beast to the ground kneeling.

He turned, and ran towards the doorway, and soon he found himself on the other side of the wall of force. The creature got up, and as it reached the field, it ran right into it with a sickening smack. The beast looked stunned, and tried again, without different results. It began to rapidly pound on the barrier, and as its claws and horns connected, a series of sparks flew from it.

Uthalion sighed in relief. He knew he shouldn’t test his luck, so he turned and quickly ran down the corridor. He came into a room with murals on the wall, and a well in the center. He noticed a ladder going up, but as he went over to it, he saw that the opening it should’ve led to was sealed shut by a wall of stone.

Looking around, he noticed that the pool had four crystals surrounding it as if they were guarding the corners of a box, even though the pool itself was circular in shape. He approached the pool, and noticed that the designs he saw while entering met at the bottom. He smiled, because he knew that he got really lucky that day. He had found an active portal, and the builders had filled it with water to throw off any would be robbers.

He had nothing else to lose, so Uthalion held his breath and jumped into the pool, and began to sink. As he touched the bottom, a white light filled his vision, and he suddenly found himself outside at the entrance, soaked, but alive.

He heard a rustling noise behind him. Turning around, Uthalion saw a pure black Rakshasa appear from a pocket of thick brush, armed, but seemingly weary and friendly at once. It saluted him, saying “I see you’re alive. Where’s your friend?”

He shook his head. “I’m….not sure. We got separated, and I was attacked by...something. A werewolf from the looks of it, but it didn't look like one I’ve ever seen."

The Rakshasa frowned. “If what you say is true, then your friend is lost to you. We warned you, yet you still showed courage. It was a fools courage, but courage nonetheless.”

“Thanks, but I doubt that will bring him back.”

The Rakshasa moved to the doorway which was occupied by the slab earlier. He waved his hands, and as he hammered out odd syllables, the slab door slid back into place once more. Uthalion tried to open it again, but failed. Whatever magic the tiger-man had worked had sealed the tomb for good, he hoped.

The Rakshasa turned to Uthalion and said, “Come. Let’s get you back to the outskirts of your city. My tribe owes that much to one who survived where our brethren have failed."

Uthalion nodded. He was glad the helmet covered his face still, because he did*’t want the tiger-man to see his tears. The same tears he shed for his lost friend. His best friend. His only friend.

The man in blue watched as the duo departed the tomb. He stepped out into the clearing once he was sure he was alone, and was greeted by the sage-like spirit as it appeared.

*The hunter has a key* it said.

The man was shocked. “Are you sure? I mean, do we know he didn't drop it on the way out?”

*Yes. I cannot feel its presence within the prison anymore, and it travels to the east now.*

The man muttered an oath.

*Such behavior is unbecoming of one in your status* the ghost said.

“Yes, I suppose it is. But if the key is out, that means the enemy is finally aware of our efforts. They know where to look, and that’s what worries me. I fear we cannot hide much longer.”

*I’m sure you’re concerned. But fear not. I have felt a presence here that may be of use to your cause…*

“Yes, I felt it too,” the man replied. “Thing is, I need to head back to where I started to find it. Whatever caused it is powerful, and I don’t intend to waste this chance.”

*Then, I wish you luck. I pray you and the Order prevail. Even you shouldn’t see what I have witnessed.*

*Thank you….father.” the man said as he bowed to the spirit. A tattoo on his head began to glow, and soon enough he teleported away with haste.

The spirit sighed. In all of its long years, it had hoped the nightmare would stay buried. But, he knew that the inevitable would happen, even though he prayed it wouldn’t. *Make your mother and I proud, son. We know you can do it.*

He knew the man in blue couldn’t hear his plea, but he felt better for voicing it. The ghost faded away once more, going to its eternal rest now that its duty was done.

The hound howled in rage. It threw itself into the barrier again and again, and each time it connected, the wall of force began to flicker more and more each time. Finally, it gave out, and the hound barreled through the barrier, surprised at its own success. It sniffed the air, and had the scent of the hunter….no, his friend…

The hound shook its head, clearing away the odd thoughts. Of course it wasn’t a friend. The Dark One was the only one capable of making the hound a friend, and the man was food, not a hound. It began to follow the hall, and found itself in a room with a pool. It had the feeling it has been there before, but it didn't remember when or why, let alone care.

It saw the water in the pool, and began to drink deeply. It had been so long since it had slaked its thirst, and it was eager to accept water over blood. Then, it noticed a faint glow at the bottom. The hound, having nothing better to do anyway, decided to see what it was. As it reached the glow, it found its vision growing cloudy and white...

It shook its head to clear the fog away, and realized that it met with no resistance it had come to expect from water. The fog finally cleared, and it found itself outside, and noticed the sun peeking through the trees of the forest. It knew the sun was bad...it could only thrive in total darkness, because its natural protection wouldn’t work otherwise.

But, it decided the sun was the least important threat right now. What was important was that it was free at last to stalk the woods at its leisure. Free to hunt other creatures, and turn those it could to the Dark One’s family. Free to serve the Dark One and cause all the death and chaos it wanted, regardless of what stood in its way.

Before it could do that, however, it needed the Dark One’s guidance. The hound knew where to go, for a thought in the back of its mind pointed it in the general direction.

It began to head east, towards a city steeped in shadows.

The Hunt was about to begin, and the hound was excited.

There, got the add up at the beginning of the week as promised. This is gonna be the last one for a few weeks since I have some serious studying and other things to do in the meantime, but once that's clear things will most likely go back to the usual 2-3 chapter adds as usual.

And before anyone asks, some of the asterisks in the conversations were intentional. I'd normally use italics, but since jagex refuses to let us use them, I'm stuck with that for telepathic/sign messages and stuff for now. >.<

Since Nightsister read my story, I read this in return.

I really liked the beginning and end of this story up to this chapter, but the middle parts felt a bit off for me. What I found a bit off was that the emperor talks like someone off a cartoon, and then waits for something to happen.

Also, every time someone swings at a head the other ducks in time, so it's either the swing is slow or the person is very fast.

As a boxer I can tell you that it's not easy to duck to a point you fully avoid the swing, even if it's a wide hook. In a fight, if your opponent ducks, you'd naturally lower the path of your swing if you can.

Generally a warrior would skip backwards to avoid a swing, or use a shield, but then again everyone knows that.

Like, knights would generally only duck if they could press their shoulder into the midsection of the attacker if the attacker sent a big swing to the head. Then the knight would grab the attacker's legs and lift him so that the attacker would topple over the knight's back.

Werewolves with horns? Sounds a bit familiar, but who cares.
Anyway the story is really good and has interesting characters, so don't worry about my opinion because this is your thread, your story, your rules.

Coincidentally, the first 3 letters of my username is also the name of a character lol :P
sry if this post was a bit too long

^Don't worry. I'm all for feedback, so it was much appreciated. :)

As far as some of the points you brought up were concerned, let's just say that there's a reason for most of them. I can't exactly say why without spoiling anything at this point, but this thing is far from over (and even then there's about....3-4 more stories in the series, so if everything isn't wrapped up by the time this closes, it will be).

However, about the fighting, that's true. Then again, the Mahjarrat race is borderline superhuman as it is, and the Shades/Rakshasas aren't exactly human either. So it stands to reason that they'd be able to do some things a normal human wouldn't.

And ironically, the werewolves with horns and the one character were written before I even read your story and saw your name. Creepy O_o
