Chapter 9
Logan passed through the gates as if in a trance, and then, all of a sudden, he was out. Out of Varrock! Finally! He gazed left and right, taking in the scenery. He realized with dismay that it was not much different to Varrock itself. The houses were slightly more spaced out, but it was obvious that they people were just people of Varrock seeking cheaper houses. ‘At least it doesn’t stink’ he thought.
The houses gradually changed as they walked. At first the houses started to have small gardens, then lush lawns, and finally fields, rolling away as far as the eye could see. Logan was amazed. So much green! A huge field of cabbages grew nearby. Logan had never liked cabbages, but now he had an intense urge to rip one out of the brown dirt and eat it raw. The only thing that stopped him was the fear of an angry farmer chasing after his with a pitchfork, like in the stories he’d read as a child.
Aura, on the other hand, seemed only mildly interested. He glanced left or right occasionally, but most of the time stared straight at the road ahead. They did*’t speak much, which suited Logan fine. He was happy to silently admire the passing countryside.
