It's not really that confusing. Almost guaranteed that in some of the earlier matches, one or two idiots will say 'Charge!' and then got killed in 10 seconds. Fortunately, not everyone at the start play with brain so the same could be said about the other team. Never know. And people will always keep dying. Besides, they are not always 15 tanks of equal power...

In short, light tanks will almost always die first, since their job is to find enemy positions and light tank players enjoy annoying the enemy team by constantly driving around them and avoiding fire.

For me, I use exclusively the German tanks. They look cool and they compensate for their lack of armour with an extremely accurate gun, which make them excellent at long range. I also prefer the mobility of medium tanks. Enjoy the destructiveness of artillery, feeling invulnerable and big and stupid as a heavy tank, and Tank destroyers are... well, they're like assault guns and don't usually come with a turret, so if you let an enemy tank get behind you or around you, it's probably all over.

To make it interesting there is a progression of tanks. Tier 1 - Tier 10. It's generally possible to get something 3 - 4 tiers above or below you in the same match. Both teams will have similar tier distributions. Tier doesn't really mean skill. It simply means you won't have tanks on one team that are invulnerable to the other team.

Well, to be honest I started to get really interested as we talked more about this game, so I decided to go check it out. The graphics look amazing, and the gameplay looks like it requires more than just mere charge and power (Like it does in Runescape). So I created an account and downloaded it... only to find it's windows only... again... >=(

Oops...

I probably should have checked before we got into the heat of the discussion. But then, it would be kind of lame if I said, 'Windows only' and then told you how awesome the game was. I did some online search and found there are generally three solutions to your problem:

1) Buy a new computer :P

2) Attain 'Bootcamp' software which allows you to launch a Window OS and play on there instead.

3) Acquire something similar to 'Bootcamp'.

Since I don't have a Mac, I don't know what a boot camp is. Meanwhile, we can talk and talk about the game, or that game, or about other stuff :P

XD It's fine! I'd rather know about now even though I can't play it so that when I do get a Windows I can! Just like for so many other games... O.O

Thanks for the research, but I already knew =P Bootcamp is rather expansive, so it buying a new computer.

And we can talk about whichever video game you want! XD Have I ever told you about the Total War series?

>.> *Jealous* The only one available for Mac is Rome. Aha! But I see you don't have Shogun!

Those are my favorite video games. I love the pure element of strategy when it comes to multi-player. I like these games more than Star Craft or Age of Empires because those are based on how fast you can gather resources and how lucky you are in guessing your opponent's army so you can build a "counter" army. While in the Total War, you start with the same amount of money, you have a pretty good idea of what the opponent can create based on the faction he/she takes, and it's based on skill more than rush.

Never actually tried Rome Total War multiplayer, and frankly after so many Total Wars I think the idea is getting old to me so I stopped buying after Napoleon.

But I can see how those would be interesting in multiplayer turn-based settings. Rome Total War is successful to me because it has a bit of everything - Campaign strategy, Battle strategy, theatrics (baby noises), Economic strategy and diplomacy amongst other things. It has a lot of breadth but not too much depth so casual players aren't put off either and can simply enjoy the thrill of leading an army of 10 Heavy Ornagers and stuff like that.

Since you're the kind that likes to think a lot, maybe you should try something like Hearts of Iron 3. That has both breadth and depth.

The idea getting old? From the outside perspective it seems to me that the black powder addition adds a whole new edge to the game. And the sea battles seem to be really amazing, both to play and to watch. Do you know that in Shogun you can create & customize your character/general & banner?

There aren't those in the other games? Once again, from the outside perspective, it seemed to me that the diplomatic aspect of the game was far more complex in Medieval II than in Rome. But I wouldn't know.

Hearts of Iron 3? What's that? Is that playable on Mac? XP

Not sure what the Black Powder addition is, but what I meant is, the whole same-y idea of taking over settlements, building financial structures, recruit armies, defeat enemy armies, win, take over some more settlements, change tax-rate to prevent revolt, build more financial structures, defeat some more enemy armies, recruit some more armies...

Sea battles are nice to play and watch. In fact, I hated land battles in Empire Total War so much that I automatically auto-resolve all of it but I try to play all my sea battles. On Easy Level I can field a fleet of about 10 Heavy First Rates and 4 First Rates, making this fleet completely unstoppable and enough to take on 4 - 5 enemy fleets in a row without any losses.

Don't know much about Shogun. I heard they shrunk the scope of the game in order to deliver a more narrative and story-based experience. But after so many Total Wars and playing each of them feels so much like the rest I have played, I kinda lost faith.

I did a research and I do think Hearts of Iron 3 is available for Mac. It only is worth your time if you buy all the two expansion packs though, as organising (ahem) German panzer regiments into divisions into corps into armies into army groups etc can take up a lot of time, particularly without the first expansion pack.

Basically it is set in World War 2 where you can take over any nation in the world from 1936 - 1946. So for example if you want to play Mexico in 1943 and start your campaign by declaring war on the USA, I suppose that is theoretically possible but will not lead to a desirable outcome.

Basically the world is split into 3 factions and they have to get a certain amount of victory points (by holding important provinces, of which there are 10,000s in the whole world map) before the end of 1946. This is done by warfare, research, organisation of production, politics etc. Too much to cramp in one post.

By black powder, I mean firearms. Which I know where in Mediavel Total War II, but I've never played that one either; plus Empire & Napoleon are only (with the exception of cavalry and bayonets) fire arms units.

I'm a Napoleon fanatic, so I think I would enjoy the on-map battles both on land and on sea. However, I've never tried sea, so I have no idea what my beginning skill level would be. And depending on that, I'll either have fun on sea or dislike it. XD First impressions can be decisive. I use to play a game called Pirates of Cordoba (That's not the actual name as I can't remember it, but it was something similar) which was based in central America. You were a pirate, had one ship, and had to fight other ships. I thoroughly enjoyed it, so it's likely I'll take a liking to sea warfare.

I see what you mean. But I don't have that view yet! XD As I've only played on Total War game. Although I think that I would enjoy the changes in campaign map, and characters (People's faces and the such).

Seems like it's a rather complex game. Thanks for looking up! I found it's available for mac for 50.00 U.S. Dollares on Bbay (E). That's without the expansion packs. Although I don't enjoy W.W.I or W.W.II. strategic warfare as much as I do Ancient times, I think I would enjoy it.

Any faction you want? Nice! What kind of army do they have for Mexico? Is the O.T.E. a playable faction?
