But you've survived it all and even defeated Evan Edgevil. It would take courage that transcends most White Knight's to accomplish something like that. And these-" he held up the diaries. "-because you secured these we are now aware of a much greater threat to our world and can attack it before it gains enough power to strike. Without this, without the trials you overcame, we would have some VERY dark times ahead of us."
The children were speechless. In their struggle for survival, the magnitude of their accomplishments had never become apparent to them. It all just seemed like a fight to survive, not save the world. Xavier gave them a few moments to comprehend the praise the continued:
"Furthermore, such a deed does not go unrewarded. You kids need a nice home, so I'll have it arranged that you all have a roof over your heads and a family to-"
"Wait!" Veronica interrupted.
"Yes?"
"We want to be together! We've gone through so much separation, we don't-"
"Woah, it's alright!" Xavier interjected. "Heheh, you see, I've got a couple of friends down in Varrock. They're not too much older than you, so I was thinking you could stay with them. They live really close to each other so you wouldn't have to worry about being apart."
"Really?"
"Yes. The two of them would love to have your company and I can easily arrange for you to be placed under their care."
The four children looked at each other, then huddle around Veronica for a hushed discussion.
"I'm still scared," mumbled Edward. "And without mum and dad and Tristan..."
"It will be a change, but you'll get used to it Edward." said Robert comfortingly.
"And don't forget," added Veronica. "We'll always be with you. Nobody else will be taken from you."
Overhearing, Xavier leant in. "I promise you, your agony is over."
Veronica glimpsed the stars and the circle of friends around her and her new companion Xavier.
"I think," she said. "That Varrock is sounding better than Entrana..."
