It caught the spirit well, and made a rather satisfying slashing sound as I cut through.
It screamed in agony, and backed away. I took the opportunity to send another spell. The wind blast hit it where I had hacked before.
This time I took the advantage, and ran at my opponent. I hacked at it's worsening wound and sliced even deeper into the spirit's torso.
A strange white fluid drenched my axe, and seeped out of the gaping **** upon this creature's chest.
It fell backward onto a wall behind it, wasting no time I shot a fire blast, finally putting this ghost to rest.
I stood over my opponent as it disappeared forever.
The temperature in the room warmed up again, and I set back to my original task.
After finally chopping a limb from the tree, I slung it over my shoulder and looked for an exit. There was a portal behind the Black Demon, this must have been the wilderness exit the Monk spoke of.
I was weary, sick of battle and carrying a large tree limb around with me. Getting into a fight was not a good idea.
I decided distraction was the best way of getting out, and once again employed my axe, this time as a throwing weapon. I meant to throw it past the demon, but instead it seemed to arc straight at it.
It landed in the beast's chest, piercing it's heart. The white fluid from the spirit seemed to consume the demon, melting it away like acid would melt soft metals.
I decided not to ponder the sanity of what I just witnessed, and ran into the portal.
In an instant I appeared in the Wilderness. So close, I couldn't fail now.
I ran south, faster than I have ever ran. The tree limb was slowing me down, but onwards I ran, stopping only to catch my breath and check the horizon for assailants.
It seemed Lady Luck was on my side this day, the journey back to the safety of the border an uneventful one.
I wondered if I was blessed by Saradomin, or another force, but in either case, I was grateful.
