"I'm okay I guess. My shoulder still hurts." This was a lie, I just wanted her to massage it for me.
"You're a terrible liar," she said with a smile. She knelt behind me and started rubbing my shoulder anyway. It felt fantastic.
Just as I started to drift away, her voice softly spoke out. "I've been meaning to speak to you about the other night."
I knew exactly what she was talking about, the night with the vodka.
"Oh, er, what about it?" I asked awkwardly. I was still unsure if it was a mistake.
"Well, things like that don't just happen, do they?"
"I'd like to think that."
"So would I, but what I mean is....Well, do you think some things are meant to happen?"
I thought for a couple of seconds before I answered. "If the last few days have taught me anything, then it would be that anything is possible. I've never been a believer in fate as such, but with the Gods being what they are, it's altogether possible."
"Yeah, I suppose. So where do we go from here?" Her grip on my shoulder had suddenly become tighter, as if she was tense about something.
"I know where I'd like to go," I replied as I looked at Rose.
She looked back and smiled. "Me too."
Rose sat down next to me and we watched the sun set over Draynor.
I awoke the next morning to the sound of chatter outside the window. I wearily lifted my head and contemplated getting up. Rose was next to me again, however this time I knew it wasn't a mistake. I listened to her soft breathing as she slept.
Eventually I dragged myself out of bed and put on some clothes before walking over to the window to see who was outside.
It was Reanna, but she appeared to be alone. Then who was she talking to? I tried to listen in to what she was saying.
"I don't know what to do. All of my life I've had clear goals, but when Tuoni is gone, I'll have nothing. I've only known these guys for a short time, when the deed is done who will have need for me? I'll have to go back to the streets I suppose.

What do you think?"
"Meeeew," came the strange reply.
I rubbed the sleep out of my eyes and realised that Jess was sitting next to her. The feline psychiatrist was eyeing her human patient with an intense look, waving her tail about and occasionally pausing in her diagnosis to lick herself somewhere.
"I knew you'd say that." Reanna said gloomily.
I opened the window all the way and Reanna looked up with a startled look in her eyes.
"H-how much of that did you hear?" She asked, turning a nice shade of scarlet.
"Reanna," I started, resting my elbows on the window frame, "Have you not considered that we actually like having you about? It's not a matter of need. You have nothing to worry about. So what if you don't have a 'purpose' as such, neither will I if...when I kill Tuoni."
"I suppose so," she moaned, sitting on her hands and looking rather grumpy.
"Do me a favour will you?"
She looked up again. "Yeah?"
"Put the kettle on, I could murder one of your teas right about now."
Reanna grinned as she squinted up at me. "I suppose tea maker is a noble calling huh?"
"Better that than pour your heart out to a cat."
Jess looked up as if she disapproved of what I said, and jumped from the wall onto the ground with a snort.
"Fine, as long as you get Rose to cook breakfast. Your cooking is diabolical."
"I'll see what I can do." I replied with a wink, and closed the window.
Later that day, after breakfast, it was the turn of Justin to be my training dummy. It was interesting sparring with someone who doesn't use weapons. But there in lies his greatest asset, you never know what he could do next. He could use his entire body as a weapon, using palms and forearms to parry attacks. He suffered the occasional nick and cut, but he didn't seem to mind.
"Sorry!" I said with disdain as he caught another slight cut.

He suddenly palmed my sword away and used my momentum against me. I was quickly put in a rear hold arm lock, and Justin placed his muscular arm around my neck.
"Do you think Tuoni will care how sorry you are?" Justin said angrily into my ear. This was out of character for him. I had seen his vile temper before when we managed to kill Narayan all those weeks ago. But he always managed to keep it in check since then. He seemed to be taking this very seriously indeed, and I figured I at least owed him to do the same.
"I guess not." I grunted, and quickly shifted my weight by dropping to one knee. I let my sword fall to the ground and used my now free hand to block Justin's incoming grasp. Our hands locked and I bent his knuckles back. I heard him groan with the pain, and I shifted my weight once more, this time by springing upwards. He lost his grip on the arm he originally had held me with, and I quickly grabbed hold myself. Our arms were locked in a crisscross fashion, and I took the initiative by pulling mine apart. This led his own arms to be awkwardly placed in a painful hold.
"Ha, I guess you've been watching me more than I first figured." He winced through the pain. He dropped to one knee, yet refused to give in.
"You're right." I replied, sounding a little more smug than I would of liked.
He looked up at me and stuck his tongue out.
"What are you..." I managed before he leapt from his kneeling position. He managed to jump right over me, breaking loose from my grip. He landed behind me and struck my leg with a kick. I was brought down to the floor in time for Justin to catch one of my flailing arms. He placed into an unbreakable lock, and I yelled out.
"By the Gods, I've never seen you do that!" I moaned into the dirt.
"Never done it before. You like?" Justin let go of my arm and pulled me up.
I rubbed my arm. "Yeah, it's great. From your point of view anyway."
He smiled and headed back into the house.

"Don't you dare think we've finished. I'm just getting some water."
I picked up my sword and leant against the garden wall. At least I could concentrate today.
Justin came back out, wiping his mouth.
"You ready?"
"Yeah."
Into the afternoon we trained, until we were both too tired to continue. I had to reserve some strength, for tomorrow was the day when I go and pay Tuoni a visit.
Tomorrow was a day that decided a lot of things. If I killed him, humanity was safe. If not, then in a few years he would try again. There was also the fate of Ikuna. As well as my own. I had my own path to follow after all was said and done. I had a promising life ahead of me with Rose, and that was a path I wanted to travel down.

Tomorrow, Tuoni falls, and I can finally get on with my life.

Morning came quickly, perhaps too quickly for my liking. I awoke, this time Rose was not beside me; she must have got up earlier.
I thought of last night. Rose and Reanna had cooked a feast worthy of the Gods. I appreciated the sentiment immensely, but for some reason the food tasted bland. I knew why. A sense of dread had slowly began to stricken me. It seemed to put me in a rather sour mood, and any attempt to enjoy myself last night simply didn't work. It was as if the foreboding I had over me was sapping my very personality. The others didn't seem to mind, they must have known how I felt, or at the very least felt some sympathy.
I rose from the bed and put on some clothes. I could hear a faint murmuring from outside. It was probably Reanna again, having a one sided conversation with Jess.
I made my way to the window and drew the curtains apart. The noises were coming from a massive group of people gathered outside. There were priests, knights, citizens and various other people, most of whom were holding baskets and boxes. Some of them looked up as I opened the window.
"There he is!" one shouted, pointing at me.
"What's going on?" I asked, rubbing the sleep out of my eyes.
"We're here to offer you our blessings child," one of the priests shouted.
A citizen spoke out, "We just want to wish you luck. To show you that we appreciate what you're doing!"
Some of the knights clattered their shields and swords together, making a terrible racket.
I looked down on the people as a smile made it's way across my face. "I'll be right down," I shouted and closed the window.
I quickly made my way downstairs where the others were. Justin got up from his seat as I descended the staircase.
"You've got quite a fan club out there buddy," he beamed.
"I know, I need to go and greet them. Do me a favour Justin, get my equipment together," I said, scratching my head.
"What, you're going already?" Rose asked, for some reason surprised.

"Yeah, I may have to do some traveling before I get to Tuoni. The earlier I start the better."
"I suppose so," she said glumly.
"I'll be right back," I said as I opened the front door. The sound of clashing metal pierced the morning air, and a cheer rose out from the crowd. I made my way outside as some of the people thrust various items into my hands.
"Here, this is a lucky charm, wear it and nothing can go wrong!" a little girl said gleefully as she handed me a small length of wool threaded with a tiny emerald shard. It was far too small to fit around my neck, so I tied it to my wrist. I knelt down so I could speak to her face to face.
"Thanks kid. I'll do my best to bring it back to you."
"You'd better!" she replied.
I stood back up as an elderly woman handed me a few runes. "It's not a lot, but it should help," she croaked. Rose had plenty of runes, but I took them anyway. Keeping these people happy was a simple thing to do, even if it ultimately proved pointless. Morale was an important issue to the whole of Runescape at the moment. I wasn't sure how these people knew it was myself who had finish off Tuoni, but it didn't really matter. I was glad to act as their hero, at least for the time being.
"I thank you all for your kind words and gifts. I need to depart very soon. What I'd like you all to do is head home, and await news from the Temple Knights. I shall be in contact with them and will keep them informed of any progress. Rest assured, I know a lot of you may have lost loved ones during the fighting, and I shall make him pay, with his life."
A knight towards the back of the crowd yelled out, "So be it warrior, may Saradomin guide you."

I smiled as he said this. People still held faith even though they knew the Gods were not quite as divine as previously thought.
"Fare thee well, I shall return as soon as I can," I said as they all started to head back to their homes. I opened the door and headed through the threshold. As I closed the door Justin handed me my equipment. I clipped all my armour into place and threw my cape over my shoulders. I finally picked up my Dragon Long Sword. I held it in front of my face and examined it closely. We had seen many battles together, yet it still refused to chip or crack. The blade was as sharp as it always had been. I sheathed it and looked around the room. All the others were looking at me with a concerned look on their faces.
Lydia approached me and handed me my back pack.
"There's some useful stuff in there, don't use them until you need to," she said quietly.
"Is the scrying orb in there?" I asked.
Lydia nodded as she sat back down.
I took in a deep breath and looked around once again. "It's time," I said solemnly.
Rose stood up and approached me. She gave me a quick peck on the cheek and took two steps back.
She outstretched both of her arms and started muttering some words.
"A fortiori, a mari usque ad mare, a verbis ad verbera, ab ovo usque ad mala, ad astra per aspera!"
I felt a sudden rush of blood to my head as I left the room. The last thing I saw was Rose collapsing, and the others rushing to her aid. This caused some concern, but I was sure she'd be okay. Casting a spell as strong as the one she just did must take some effort and extreme concentration, so it was no surprise that she may have exhausted herself casting it.
I suddenly realised that I was looking down on the house from a great height. I could see some of the crowd still making their way back. I was then thrust south, towards the sea. Instead of merely teleporting their, I was being flown. It was an amazing feeling, I soared over the sea at a great speed.

Unfortunately I had no control of my path, I was being guided by invisible hands, being pulled my a benevolent wind.
As I started to become accustomed to this method of travel I caught sight of a large island. It approached at an incredible speed, and before I had time to gather my bearings I landed on the beach.
I quickly drew my blade and looked around. The beach was beautiful, with soft waves lapping onto the shore. A large mountain dominated the landscape of the island. Around halfway up lay a gigantic granite castle built into the very side of the mountain itself. It was a marvel to behold, the architecture behind such a design must have been astounding. I knew this was where Tuoni was. I had hoped that the spell would of at least had the decency to drop me off at the castle, but too late now. I put my blade away and headed off in the direction of the mountain.
It was surrounded by tropical trees and jungle foliage, although it was sparse and quite easily navigated. As I walked I opened up my backpack and peeked inside. There was a super strength potion, super attack potion and a flask of water. They were kept company by a few lobsters, some runes and a scrying orb. These were all packed neatly on top of four blocks of a clay-like substance. These were the explosives that the Temple Knights had given me. I blessed Lydia for her common sense and knowledge in herblore, and removed the water. I opened up the flask and took a swig.
I had reached the foot of the mountain. A mountain wolf had noticed me, but seemed not to care. He simply went about his business and disappeared into a nearby cave. I looked up the mountain and thanked my lucky stars that Tuoni hadn't decided to build his abode all the way at the top.
I started the long trek towards the sky, keeping an eye out for more wolves. He might have just gone to get his mates to help with eating me.
The slope was gentle at first, but quickly began to get steeper.

Getting a decent foot hold was also getting harder to do, and I slipped a few times. No severe damage, but it was getting rather frustrating.
I eventually came to a large ridge blocking my path. It jutted out from the side of the slopes, and appeared to be a prominent feature all the way round the mountain.
It seemed the only way to navigate it was to climb over it. I took off my backpack and threw it up and over the edge. I only realised the stupidity of what I done after I remembered there was enough explosives in the backpack to turn this mountain into a crater. Luckily it didn't explode, instead landing with a thump. I looked around for something to grab onto and pull myself over the ridge with. I spotted a few suitable looking gaps and jumped up, grabbing hold of the gaps.
I tried to gain a suitable grip with my feet and found the friction wasn't too slack to allow me to fall off. I used my legs to push myself up, and my arms pulled with all my strength to gain enough momentum to propel me over the edge of the ridge. My head peered over the edge and I quickly moved my left arm to hold onto the ground above the ridge. Using my legs I scrambled up, finally overcoming this obstacle. I lay on my back for a short time to catch my breath.
I stood up and grabbed my backpack. I continued on as I checked my hands. They felt sore, but there were no lacerations.
The castle was getting closer. It was now close enough to examine with more detail. There was a stone set of steps that lead up the mountain side to the entrance to the castle. The steps were steep and appeared dangerous. One slip could see you falling a great height back down, with injury seeming very likely.
They climbed at least two hundred feet in a winding fashion, there must have been hundreds of steps. My legs seemed to groan at the prospect of climbing this monstrosity. I sat down and withdrew my flask. I took a few swigs and patted my legs.

"Don't worry guys, we'll make it."
I looked around whilst I rested. The view from this altitude was superb; I could see for miles. The island seemed to be alone in this part of the world. As far as the eye could see was the ocean.
A thought suddenly struck me and I took out the super strength potion from my backpack. I opened it and drank some of the potent white fluid. It tasted earthy and dank, but I instantly felt the effects. My arms and legs were rejuvenated, and I sprang to my feet. With this new strength I should be able to get at least halfway up the stone steps without needing a rest. I packed away my equipment and quickly made my way to the first stone block.
"Even a journey of a thousand steps must start with one," I said to myself, and began to climb the massive coil of steps.
At first I bounded up the stairway two at a time. It wasn't long before I climbed them in a more traditional fashion, one at a time. Eventually the effects of the potion began to wear off, but I had traversed a majority of the steps. I sat down once again to catch my breath. I looked down the mountain, following the steps coil down the mountain like a gigantic stone serpent.
I glanced into the sky. It must have been at about midday. The sun beamed down upon me and I sat back, letting the rays cover my face.
I opened my backpack and took out the Scrying Orb. I tapped it a few times and Josh's face appeared.
"Hello there, how goes it?" he said.
"It's taking longer than I thought. I'm having to climb a mountain to get to my destination, but I think another hour or so and I should be there. Take a look yourself."
I held up the orb in the direction of the castle. Josh looked with interest.
