It's going extra-ordinarily wonderful, actually. I am at last, after turning in an essay this evening, able to enjoy my break between terms. I'm also recovering from some illness I contracted last weekend.
How are you? What brings you back?

Hi, Yrolg.
Since it's pretty much impossible to catch you in game these days I reckoned this is the best method to conduct conversation, as I am not a TGP member.
Two things, basically. The first being that, as you might be aware, I am thinking of hosting a story contest in the future, and wondered if you mind to co-judge it? If you are interested, what time of the year are you most likely to be able to judge a writing contest? And of course, when I host the contest largely depends on when it is most convenient for you.
Secondly, you may have heard that I have started a 'Reviewing course' which works in similar ways to the Academy of Reviewing, back in the days, though I never really was a part of it. The purpose of the reviewing course is to 'train' our average writers to become educated and informed reviewers, and I don't see that harming the community. I just wondered, as an esteemed reviewing yourself, would you be so kind as to glance over the course content, and inform me if there is anything I haven't mentioned or anything that you feel is essential also? I am considering writing another course that complements and improves on what is already learned in the first and I would love some ideas and thoughts.
Thank you very much for your time.

Englishkid62,
Hello. This is the perfect forum to conduct such a discussion. I am most able to judge March-September, but I should be able to secure free time any time during the year. Most of it depends on the specifics of the judging criteria, such as length of the entries and exhaustiveness of the feedback. For the most part, however, I can judge at any time. :)
I'd be more than happy to look over the reviewing guide, though I do feel obligated to disclaim that you and I have historically opposite opinions in the minutia of reviews. ;) Bearing this in mind, however, I'm still more than happy to propose suggestions. I trust that you will take them all into consideration, even if you end up disagreeing. I definitely agree with the premise that some sort of cognizance exercise is needed to reaffirm the community's understanding of reviews.

Hi.
Thank you for your response. I'll probably be looking for a third judge as well. Perhaps Dreamweaver? The contest will probably be held before the summer holidays, and I'm intending to create a two-round contest, the first being simply a short written task to create the most interesting/memorable character imaginable, the second would be a short story based on that character created in the first. This is still a concept for me, however, though I'm not sure how popular this will be, or in fact, even practical.
I probably would create a default template but judges are free to create their own. But I might have to look it over just in case :p
Thank you so much for taking a look. I look forward to seeing your suggestions about how to whip these new writers into reviewers ;)

Wow, there is an incredible amount of content in this thread. As I'm new-ish to the Stories forum, it is somewhat sad that few contests exist in these forums anymore.
As for your writing, it is great and there are some great contest entries in here, although I haven't read them all (yet!). I absolutely loved your short story on Page Eight Post Three; the ending was hilarious and ingenious.
