Yes you can, but make sure he fights with the unit eventually, although not straight away.
EDIT: he won't be coming in yet, he'll come in when they manage to escape

First of all I am going to tell you that the gun that I am going to make is a Thompson M1A1 you can g()()gle it if you want. I mainly came here to ask you a question. When you say burning do you mean litterally on fire or overheated with smoke coming out of the muzzle? Please answer this as soon as possible (asap) and I will continue to make your gun.
