One of the braver guards, keeping his wits about him, fired an arrow at the demon. The arrows’ aim was true, and seemed bound to strike its target’s forehead. However, once within several feet, it suddenly caught ablaze and was reduced to cinders. Amon, however, seemed to notice, for he turned to the guard who had fired the arrow and said, “Let me show you what happens to people who oppose me.”
Before the guard could react, a ball of fire appeared in Amon’s hand and was thrown at the guard with such tremendous force that he was knocked back to the edge of the wall. Upon hitting, the ball seemed to explode, engulfing the guard in flames, but not killing him immediately.
The other guards couldn’t help but watch as their comrade, screaming in agony, tried in vain to put out the flames which were slowly consuming his body until he was reduced to a charred corpse.
Taking advantage of the guard’s distraction, Amon made his way to the gate and gave it a solid punch. The gate, although made of wrought iron and five times as tall as Amon, severely dented in the first blow, and was almost knocked off its hinges. With the second punch, it was actually sent flying into the city, damaging several homes, whilst killing and injuring any civilians unfortunate enough to be in its path.
“Anything else?” asked Amon.
Amatsu opened his mouth to tell him no and dismiss him, but before he could speak, a thin, mist-like substance formed a dome around the city. Amatsu was puzzled by this until he noticed a small, cloaked group standing a ways inside the city, within site of the broken gate.
“Of course,” he sighed, “Asura mages. Amon, do something about that barrier, having the gate open means nothing if a barrier still stands between my armies and the city.”
“Sheesh, why me?” groaned Amon, punching the barrier as he did so. The mages flinched when the punch hit, but the barrier did*’t budge. “This will take a while,” Amon complained.
