Welcome back Mcmrs, haven't seen you in a while. And what 'gay characters might you be talking about? It seems to me that you are presuming some characters to be 'gay, and I can't figure out why...

Oh, and for future reference the word "worse" and the phrase "not as good" sound better than "less good." Just so you know.

P.S. The first two pages of the next add are done. Unfortunately, I have errands to run this afternoon. Still, you can expect the add to be up by tonight.

“Well, my gamble failed,” laughed Usha.

Orcris exchanged looks with Isamu and noticed his own concern reflected in the other’s eyes. Although the conversation had been quiet, it was not so much that it couldn’t be heard; apparently something about Usha’s engagement to Liam had been invalid, and Usha had concealed this fact. Whereas on the surface this was a personal matter affecting Liam and Usha, both Orcris and Isamu knew that the only guarantee they had of the Cult of Darkness’ cooperation was Usha’s hold over Liam. Considering she had purposely deceived Liam for at least a year, Orcris found it hard to believe that Usha would have much control of the Cult anymore. To make matters worse, there might even be backlash against the Zarosians since Usha was their main sponsor within the Cult.

“Given your deception,” Ayumu said, “I have proposed that the council discharge you from a leadership role.”

-Of course.- Orcris thought, -Ayumu’s been trying to gain control of the Cult, and now given his main competition’s fall from grace, he might actually succeed.-

Somewhat worrisome was that Orcris had no idea where Ayumu’s sympathies lay. It was quite possible he would withdraw the Cult*s aid, or worse, actively assist the factions opposing Zaros.

“Liam…” muttered Usha, “I’m sorry…”

“Well, teaches you for not playing fair,” Hekate chimed in.

“Please be quiet, dear,” sighed Seth, “Don’t make this harder on her than it needs to be.”

“Liam, it is my suggestion that you honestly consider expelling Usha from the Cult,* said Ayumu, “She lied to you, repeatedly, in order to further her own aims. Given this, I do not believe her trustworthy.”

“Logical,” a new voice said, “But you know perfectly well Ayumu, all is fair in love and war.”

At this voice, Ayumu’s eyes widened, and Seth turned as pale as a ghost. A few moments later, a young man with red eyes and black hair with red highlights appeared in their midst.

“Setkul!” gasped Seth, backing up to the nearest wall.

“Good afternoon, child of light,” said the newcomer, smirking at Seth’s discomfort, “I’ve been wondering; do you want me to gut you now or later for what you did?”

Seth did not reply, but looked as if he could faint any moment; something which shocked Orcris, who had never seen the young warrior so distressed. However, Orcris was quickly distracted from this as it became apparent that Liam jad collapsed onto the ground, shuddering, and clutching his chest.

“What going on?” asked Orcris.

“Don’t worry,” said Setkul, “This is normal; Liam’s soul remembers me, but due to his amnesia, his mind does not. This conflict makes it difficult to move for a short period of time. Ayumu, Sophia, and probably Usha would have gotten similar reactions when Liam first saw them after his amnesia.”

“That is true,” Ayumu confirmed.

“Yes,” added Liam, “Please don’t worry about me, this will pass in a moment.” As the incubus had said, his shuddering soon stopped and he stood back up. “Actually,” he said, “I did*’t know that those reactions meant I knew someone from before… does that mean I knew you as well, Ayumu?”

“Ouch,” said Setkul, “He doesn’t remember one of his best friends, that some heck of an amnesia.”

“Best friends?” questioned Usha, “But I thought…”

Ayumu gave her a strange look. “You thought what?”

“Um…” Usha trailed off.

“What did she think?” questioned Orcris.

“You’re pretty smart, Orcris, how can’t you have figured this out?” asked Isamu.

“Figured what out?” asked Orcris.

“I don’t think that he can’t figure it out,” said Setkul, “I think he’s subconsciously blocking the obvious conclusion, due to his feelings on such things. We should stop talking about it, before we make him uncomfortable.”

“Honestly Usha, you have quite a dirty mind,” sighed Ayumu, “Although, it does explain some things, like why you were always so hostile to me being around.”

“You were hostile to me,” said Usha.

“After you tried to keep me away from the person who may very well be my best friend,” Ayumu countered.

“Touche,” sighed Usha.

“Not that your social lives are unimportant,” said Isamu, “But we are here for a reason.”

“Yes, you wanted us to interrogate a person you had captured?” asked Liam, “But still…”

“If you want to know how Ayumu and I know you, it can wait until you get back,” said Setkul, “You have a job to do Ki- er, Liam.”

Ayumu gave Setkul an amused look. “Nice catch,” he said under his breath.

“Sorry, habits are hard to break,” replied Setkul.

Liam looked at both of them with confusion, then said, “Please explain this all to me when I get back. I’m just getting more and more confused by the second.”

“Of course,” said Ayumu, “Have a nice trip.”

Liam nodded and allowed the Zarosians to lead him out of the base. Once they were gone, Ayumu turned to Setkul and said, “Welcome back,” unenthusiastically.

“You seem unhappy to see me,” said Sekul.

“You’re always up to something,” said Ayumu, “I doubt this time is different.”

Setkul laughed to himself and replied, “You know what I am up to; I wish for Mephos’ revival.”

“Even though Liam will die?” asked Ayumu.

“It is for the best that Liam dies and Mephos is reborn,” replied Setkul, “But we have a long time to discuss this. In the meantime, I wish to speak with the Cult** council of elders.”

“Why?” asked Ayumu.

“Why don’t you see for yourself?” asked Setkul, “Lead the way, please.”

Ayumu paused for a moment, but ended up complying.

“Saradomin has the temple knights, Zamorak and Zaros have numerous spy networks, and Guthix has more followers than any other god. I can’t help but feel we’re the odd one out here."

Daefon sighed at the statement, as much as he wished otherwise, he knew that his companion was correct. Armadyl had almost no influence on Gielinor any more, and almost no followers. When compared to the might of the big three and Zaros, the hopes of retrieving the weapons for Armadyl seemed very slim.

“My apologies, Lord Daefon,” said the mage, standing up and brushing off her robes, “I did not wish to seem pessimistic.”

“There is no need for an apology, Esther,” sighed Daefon, “Our chances are slim, it will take a miracle for us to even stand a chance. But still, we must not back down so long as there is hope, even if it is but the smallest of hopes.”

“You are correct, my lord,” said Esther, “Thank you for reminding me of why we must try and succeed against all odds.”

After this, the two remained silent for a while, watching as the last of the sun’s light faded away, and the evening star appeared. Despite the knowledge that harsh trials lay ahead, Daefon felt at peace as he watched day give way to night. Unfortunately this peace was broken as a shout filled the air. Both Daefon and Esther turned to the direction that the shout had come from, and found a girl in her mid-teens running toward them.

“What is it Judith?” asked Esther, picking up her staff.

“Daefon, Esther, you have to see this!* exclaimed the girl.

“See what?” asked Daefon.

“It’s too hard to explain,” replied Judith, “Come quickly.”

Daefon and Esther exchanged confused looks, but nonetheless gathered up their belongings and followed Judith. She led them to a small forest, and without hesitating entered. Daefon and Esther continued to follow, but began giving each other troubled looks as Judith headed deeper into the forest. Then, out of the corner of his eye Daefon noticed something shining with pale blue light. When he turned to look, he was shocked to find it was a butterfly, the wings of which were producing the light. He paused for a moment to stare in awe, but soon realized Judith was heading onward, and forced himself to follow.

The further into the forest they went, the more of these strange butterflies they found, and other odd things began to appear; flowers that sparkled like gems in the dim light, trees with leaves of gold and trunks of silver, and birds which left trails of luminescent dust in their wake. Finally, Judith came to a halt in a small clearing, and Daefon and Esther likewise stopped, and stared into this clearing.

Seated there was a lady, garbed in white robes onto which diamonds, pearls had sapphires had been sown. She wore a cloak of gold which shone with its own light, and seemed to sway and move like fire, and upon her head was a diadem which seemed wrought of diamonds. Embedded in this diadem were gems the equals of which none of the Armadylysts had ever seen before; they were as if someone had taken an aurora and given it solid shape, for they shone with their own light, and had ever-shifting colors. The lady’s skin was pale in a way that suggested not sickness, but refinement and grace; and this was contrasted by her silky, black hair which cascaded down her shoulders.
