~Chapter Five~
-259 years before present time, Gielinor-
Port Sarim’s streets stirred as people eyed each other worriedly and stayed enclosed in huddled masses. Many brandished swords with them, or any form of weaponry that they came across.
Laden in the streets were the grime and filth, the results of so many people having traversed them in such a short amount of time and paying no mind to the parcels they lost. Winds howled in high, sharp tones as they whipped through the town. Its notes fell softly on deaf ears, as people were attempting to ignore the wind whilst remaining alert for any murmuring or mention of the one that threatened to bring the city to its knees.
An adolescent girl, her hand clasped tightly to her mother’s palm stared towards her worried mother. They were alone, their existence completely forgotten by the woman’s husband. Upon the news of the imminent attack, he left without a single thought. Every single belonging of value was gone.
Her mother, noticing how the girl seemed distraught, smiled at her and tightly squeezed her hand. Around them their dank cellar seemed to be slowly closing in, malevolent, and merciless. Such was the trickery that fear played on them as their hearts raced and their minds remained occupied with the ominous future that the city was doomed to.
Completely surrounding the port were hundreds of steel clad soldiers, all gazing towards the dark horizon as blackened clouds rolled in and listening to the heavy beat of thunder resounding through the sky.
