Sileo Umbra

Sileo's devilish half-grin faded as the... mechanical demon entered the scene. The assassin casually looked it over, sizing the demon up. An odd creature indeed, but there was no shortage of oddities here.

Anyway, Soahc's next scheme involved a centaur herd of some sort. Apparently the demigod would require Sileo's skills for this foray. Was he supposed to infiltrate a centaur herd, or perhaps assassinate their leader? Obviously being an assassin entailed assassinating people from time to time.
Ramsay Bolton is the king we deserve.

How in the hell did I end up here? I mean, I know for a fact that the stupid dwarf I asked for directions from had said to go about 45 miles north and then take the leftern most fork in the road and that’s the way to the cove of treasure. This sneaky son of a ***** sent me to ******* Og! He was supposed to send me to my payment! ******* midgets.

Cole Greenhorn, extraordinary mercenary who had been swinging a sword since he could crawl. At least, that’s the story he always told; being part of a band of mercs required that one has the ability to bolster out-of-the-world claims that could never be true in a hundred years, but make people believe them. “Sure, I killed 7 giants with only a steel longsword; it’s all in the heel with them, then they come tumbling down!” In reality, it was an entire army that took them down one at a time, hundreds of lives being sacrificed in a trial an error type ordeal. None of the facts actually mattered, it’s all about what people believe. Even if it’s a proper lie, so long as no one but the liar knows, then it’s basically the truth.

Cole had received a lot of **** in life about his surname, partially why he went into the knighthood business. He’d tried the whole “knighthood” nonsense, but when it came to “life or pride” a lot of those around him preferred pride to his life, so he decided that running away was a smart decision, despite whether or not it was actually legal. Being on the lamb was fine for him, though, introduced him to a band of well-trained mercenaries who taught him how to fight for his life as opposed to the knights’ way of fighting for pride. There was no such thing as “dirty” in their mind and Cole found that he had a similar moral compass to these people; at least, that was until they decided to raid a well fortified town and everyone he had come to know and love died all around him. Well, they would have died around him had he not tucked tail and fled during the height of battle when things were looking good.

There was just something about Cole and his desire to live; gave him a supernatural sense for things, no matter how good they seemed. Being in Og did*’t feel overall bad, he had an itch that wasn’t there before passing through the gates and he couldn’t tell whether or not the itch came from the flies or his mental fortitude. Standing at only about five feet and nine inches, the man wasn’t overly imposing, especially not when compared to the ogres. Sure, he was fit and stocky, his leather armor probably a little bit too tight, but he was still able to move around freely enough. A dagger was strapped safely to the inside of his left leg, followed by two more on his chest and a slew of throwing knives around the rest of his body, bow and quiver sitting comfortably across his back.

He pushed jet black hair from his eyes and winced as he looked up into the sun, brown eyes watering slightly. The closer he got to the center of the city, the more he took notice of the itch. He began to base his movements on which way would make him itchier; it only took a few minutes before he strolled around the corner and overheard an interesting conversation. People were questioning this behemoth of a creature in the center of the room about the war between Og City and Ogrin. Sounded like the fat one wanted this merry band of folks to go and check out Ogrin, or at the very least help Og City, and for a mercenary that sounded like money.

Alicia never stood a chance of making it out the door. Cole became visible in the doorway, blocking her path before wrapping his arm around her shoulders, “
No, no, pretty lady, let’s not just leave; it’s very rude to our host
,” he spoke with a whispy flow, kind of like the wind in that he thought he sounded cooler like that. He flashed a grin to all those in the room, a tooth missing somewhere in the midst, but the rest were well kept.
I live in the desert.

Annie listened to the conversation around her, thinking what she can say in this conversation. She was feeling a little better from earlier. She sat up to get a better look around her. She said," We need to work together and not threating each other. We need to stop this Hagfather or the world will be in danger before anything else. Etheldredda can get us in. I trust her. I will also help you to hunt Soahc after we finish this quest. Will you help us?" She wasnt going to tell this stranger that she was a Demi God because she doesn't trust this stranger. Then she heard Etheldredda told them they are going into the forest and giving orders. She asked standing up,"what do you want me to do?"

Judy respond Cadmus," That's true. I do have a point to prove and powerful to do it. Do you work with Soahc? We might be able to work together. Who do you need to lure?"

Perhaps not alone after all

Relief flooded through Siera when the dwarf confirmed that he could indeed read what she was writing. She could actually communicate, then, and he did not seem bothered by the method by which she "spoke". His name was unfamiliar to her, but that was unsurprising, for she knew little of the world that did not pertain to the specific topics upon which she had devoted her time here to research.

It was his melody, however, that convinced her he was not a threat. There was much to it, more than most of the companions that she had been traveling with, although she could not say for sure whether this was simply due to a greater attunement at this point in time. His song was a march, a march that played in three parts. The first, the opening, was what one would consider the typical march: drums playing a continuous beat for soldiers to move to, horns signaling the onward movement, and an overall tune that indicated the sole purpose of soldiers marching onwards.

The second part was more subdued, a more simple melody, yet it was underscored with the undeniable backdrop of the sounds that preceded a member of the royal family when they entered after being announced. Such a melody, while not fully known to Siera, was understood enough from her reading of various pieces of music that she knew what it meant. The overscore of simplicity was more key, however, for it indicated what truly was and not what showed on the outside.

The third part was not exactly a part of the march itself, at least not one that one could listen to separate from the others. It was more in the way that the march played itself, a path that led to a conclusion that one could be satisfied with. She knew that feeling well, for although she would prefer to play on until the end of time there were always pieces that, when she lowered the instrument from her lips, she was truly pleased with the way it had gone.

None of it stood out as wrong, and none of it gave her any cause to think that this dwarf would mean her harm. That gave her as much relief as knowing that she could speak to him, and the combination of both likely showed on her face for a moment. If he wanted a companion to travel with, then she would be happy to oblige. He did not seem the type to try and be a hero, at least not anymore, and that meant she could safely leave without him trying to follow once she got to where their paths would naturally diverge. Traveling was much safer in numbers; she knew that well.

Deciding to continue writing in the air for the moment, as the spell was still active and there was no reason not to use it, Siera wrote, “
The harp is my second choice of instrument, and one of the few devices that allow me to communicate with the world. My name is Siera, and I am bound for the mountains. If you are heading in that direction, I will gladly accept your offer of companionship.
*

As she wrote, Robnoxious decided that this stranger wasn’t a threat either, and meandered over to the cart, sniffing around it like a dog normally would. The flute, meanwhile, had more of an interest in Thorek himself, and floated over, circling around his head with the same curious whistles that it gave everyone it was examining for the first time.

They had a way in as Rovaan had expected since Etheldredda had once lived in those very woods. It made sense she would know how to navigate the labyrinth of spells and traps. On top of it all, Etheldredda's logic on catching the coven unawares int eh middle of their ritual would give them a slight edge. It was all tactically sound but the question now became how many of the coven could they kill before the hags mustered enough strength to retaliate. Regardless, it was going to be a hard fought battle, but then again, they just defeated an elder demon the night before. But at the same time they could not let that go to their heads.

Etheldredda's answer to his question was not the answer Rovaan was expecting but he appreciated Etheldredda's honesty. In a way Rovaan felt he understood where Etheldredda was coming from as he did not have a pleasant childhood either. His mother, Queen Valerica of Acaria wasn't the loving type since she only made a deal with Rovaan's father in order to secure the line of succession to the throne and so she could keep her power over the kingdom and eventually use Rovaan as a puppet to rule through once he took the throne. But even best laid plans were doomed to failure.

Before Rovaan could think back on his past more in depth, Etheldredda gave orders for their tiny band of adventurers snapping Rovaan from his thoughts. But before they could head off, they were berated by Armando. Not wanting to waste time dealing with this fool Rovaan answered the man's accusations.

''Who is to say that we aren't helping defeat Soahc hm? For all you might know these hags might be working for him and building an army. Then what will happen to your little crusade? There are things far worse in this world that one god with a complex. Now I suggest you run along a play soldier like a good boy and let the adults do their job.'' said Rovaan, his demonic wolf eyes glowing from the black pits of his helm.

March of Darkness

For a moment, Mechanical wondered why he did not hear choking, not noticing his little projectile boil away by Kira's fire. Soahc now understood that there were two Spirrys, for Spirry had bilocated.

Mechanical would have smiled, if he had any lips. Soahc agreed to hunt down the Newborn, and also seemed to become more serious than unusual regarding the flow of time. He then purposed if Mechanical would like to follow along, and then asked him who he was.

"I have already joined the ranks of Ryokin; I used his portal without his permission, so I owe him some honour. But yes, I will follow along your... group, however weak their stomachs may be,” Mechanical replied, empty eye sockets looking at Brodus and Kira; although he could not see them, he somewhat sensed their distaste for him.

“I will have to see the demise of the Newborn myself, he will gradually remember his past, and relearn his sorcery. But where do I come from? That is hard to say, as I do not remember; this is why I can only speak indirectly, because my memories are fading; my mind is incomplete. I am not from this universe. I was spawned from the memories of the past and the future, for time has no meaning where I come from, and it feels that this realm is also undergoing the coiling of time I mentioned earlier. The last god is coming again, but his primal form was not the first, and the heir's son flees away from his past only to be his past again. What is now forgotten is coming again, breaking the order of this realm's first god. When you behold everything of the future as one, only then, can a new present be forged. A new god must rise to break the coiling of the past, but we must kill the Eight-Legged One and its awakener.” Mechanical continued, as usual, talking perhaps too much yet saying so little; the pool of blood around him was now a few feet across.

Soahc asked Ryokin about his demon army, and...

(towards the Great Plains they will go)

On the Hunt

The praying of the Decan caught Kat by surprise for just a moment, for she wasn’t sure what the reasoning for it would be. It became clear, however, but the reason surprised her even more. It was not directly said, but it seemed that Martha had decided to go with the more effective strategy. The part of Kat that used to be the only one was shocked and disappointed, for it had though that positing the morally correct option as what she would do would sway the Decan to that side.

The huntress, however, inwardly nodded in approval. Alania might be someone that she had been comrades with before, but if she was the one this demon was interested in then she would be the perfect one to draw it to them. They might be putting her in harm’s way, but barely more than they were doing to themselves by drawing the creature here. If all went well, then Alania wouldn’t get any more hurt than any of the rest of them.

And if she did...well...that was something that would have to be dealt with then.

It was the declaration that she would be acting Decan upon Martha’s death that stopped Kat in her tracks, though. She wasn’t even an official soldier! What right did she have to be leading everyone, and why would Martha want her to do it? To the woman who had spent the majority of her life at the helm of a ship, taking the directions from one person and the orders from another, this was something that felt more out of place than the presence of the demon. Even the huntress wasn’t sure about this. She might have been something of a leader before, but being mixed with Kat had diluted that to a point where it was not a primary nature anymore.

Questioning it wasn’t what she should do at this point, though; there were more important things that needed to be done, and if there was a chance she was going to end up in charge - even for a short while, since the first thing she was going to do in that situation was find the Ambassador and leave the soldiers in the hands of someone that was supposed to be leading them - then she needed to act like someone they would follow. Such a thing was easier said than done, at least in her mind, and she really did*’t know how to go about doing it. What she did know, at least, was that someone who was trying to contest their place as the chosen replacement probably wouldn’t give off an aura of someone that people should listen to.

Instead, she did*’t respond, and turned to Alania. The tear-filled statement about how the demon was too strong was a bit worrying, but it did give a chance to perhaps find out something useful before they set up the ambush.

*
What do you mean, Alania? What can he do?
” she asked. Kat was probably the only person in the camp that would even look at her at this point, and although she knew everyone here had already labeled Alania as a demon worshiper there was more to what was going on than something like that. Alania was too good of a person to act like this out of malice, and her pleas that the demon needed to be saved had to be coming from a sense of idealism that, although misplaced in this situation, made her exactly the opposite of a person who would be trying to collaborate with demonkind.
