Annie smile as she heard what the bartender had to say. All this information was amazing to know. She took the drinks to Siera. Then said as she sat down across her at the table in a whisper,"I got news. The bartender told me that the Time Mage was attacked! She believed that Soahc did it but The old Mister Sage sent the monster on his way and he most powerful wizard alive, he is. This all happened a month ago or so. Also no one was hurt or killed by the attack. There's also an old forest in the east called, Milkyor. They say that place is haunted by witches and ghouls and whatnot. But there's been no reported attacks, kidnappings, sightings or anything by the surrounding villages for a few months now! Whoever lives there must have gone on holiday, or have found themselves a new hobby. She also said we should get rid of the hags. That's all the infomation I got. " She had to take a long sip after talking for a while.

Judy looked at zed with a confused face as the woman put an extra apple in her hand and then left. She didn't know what to do.

Hamstead - Zed

Zed was too busy clumsily stuffing loaves of bread into his traveling bag to say much to the old woman. Judy protested to the old woman's assertions that they were a pair. It was obvious that Judy didn't swing that way.

After the woman left, Zed glanced at the apples she gave them. They looked like prime red, why wouldn't they sell? Strange.

But his mind turned back to the closing market stalls around them. Damn, they only scrambled a few loaves of bread. Not nearly enough to return to the bread and breakfast with.

"We still need more food. Doesn't look like we'll find it here." He told Judy. "We've got plenty of time though. How about we look around town?" He suggested.

-----

Espionage - Sileo

After dispatching the first two guards, Sileo scaled the side of the tower and peered over the parapet. The two guards were startled—not by the assassin who remained unseen, but by the appearance of a glimmering air elemental. This town was guarded a solid stone wall comparable to that of a military ringfort or even a small castle, as well as the protection of a sophisticated magical ward? Either King Damian had too much gold in his purse or there was something else involved in all of this.

Still, Sileo's mission was to advance. He couldn't assassinate those guards without the elemental spotting him, and could he kill the elemental itself? Possibly, as he'd killed similar magical entities before. It was nothing new to him, but the question was could he do it quietly? The assassin would have to think his way through this one, and quickly. Thankfully, improvisation came to him naturally.

"That pyromistress better be tight." He muttered to himself as he produced an iron sphere grenade packed with black powder and sparked its fuse on a piece of flint tied tightly around his neck. With characteristic indifference he tossed it over the parapet towards the two guards before he descended and dropped back down to the wall's walk-way to land in a roll.

Encampment of the Empire - Henry

Henry found himself agreeing with Alicia for once, not at all interested in the Decan's religious nuttery. Henry was a pious man himself, he said his nightly prayers and his graces before and after meals, but he resented how religion taught men to put swords through each other. Or at least that was the way the clergy wanted it to be.

"Fine. We'll kill as many Ogrin toad-kissers you want, or at least I will. And we'll find that demon too, if you want him that bad." He crossed his arms. "But I want to find out who's behind all this."

Judy said as she nodded,"I agree with you we need more food. But I don't trust these apples. Something in me is telling me to not trust them. Lets look around this town. Maybe we will get lucky. How much food did you get?" She was open for everything. -Dances-

Bowels of the Earth

Spirry descended into the bowels of the earth, and what a labyrinthine mess it was. It consisted of pitch-black passages and sudden drop-offs, which would easily at least cripple and trap anyone foolish enough to venture into this world of darkness, but Spirry easily glided here and there when necessary.

The walls of the tunnel were quite odd, exhibiting sudden twists and turns, seemingly formed by an immense monster that escaped the core of the earth, or perhaps burrowed within it long ago. What a giant animal or series of growing things it must have been! A bunch of Dwarves would probably love mining down here.

As Newborn progressed, he could hear strange sounds, and the great silence of this subterranean world caused echoes easily; even Spirry's dropping blood and wings echoed a bit. Perhaps the strong scent of fresh blood tapping against cold stone attracted the attention of many unnatural and magical beasts down here?

If so, the mighty blackness covered those beasts. Perhaps they were making their way to the surface? No matter; Spirry flew overhead those odd beasts, preferring not to waste his time on them.

Sometime later, as Spirry flew, hopped and jogged his way on and on, a vast opening seemingly appeared on its own accord, and beyond that, behold, a new world. It was an immense underground world, with bioluminescent fungi covering the rocky ceiling and resembling a sky of glowing green, and down below thick grass grew upon blue fungi (or something), plush and gentle to tread upon. Spirry landed on it, resting his wings.

The plants seemed to grow very well even without sunlight; maybe the fungi overhead produced a chemical that could cause some equivalent of photosynthesis. At the other side of this giant underground chamber, was another cave, identical to the opening on the surface, though wherever it led to, well, Spirry could not sense until he got closer.

Two large nests, made of vine and bramble, was up ahead, the material probably taken from deeper underground. No matter, Spirry flapped his wings once, flicking blood backwards everywhere, and he folded them behind his back.

He heard a light bark or something, but didn't care, and instead turned his back to see if those things he flew over followed him, but he did not hear them. The presence of three man-sized tailed reptilian monsters perhaps caused those other things to keep their distance. The reptilian beasts had powerful human-like legs, but small front legs, somewhat like arms.

Although Spirry could sense his environment mentally, he was not always right, and appeared oblivious to the three reptilian beasts prowling for him. Like oversized scaly wolves, the three animals spread apart and charged Spirry at three directions, front and sides, at the same time.

Newborn only just realised what was going on, and stood upright and loose, looking side to side while moving a bit, taking short steps while turning and changing directions; one of the reptiles hesitated, and so Spirry dove at that one with the reflexes of a cat.

The two reptilian yet different beasts grappled each other, clawing and biting into each others' flesh for a moment; Spirry felt the beast angrily breathe and struggle against the pain, though Spirry kept calm and reserved, feeling good to feel another kind of pain.

Spirry, having stronger and larger arms, pulled the beast backwards over himself, and kicked with both legs upward underneath it's belly, flipping it over himself. The hurled monster flew over, tail flicking, and nearly landed on the alpha, who leaned out of the way. The third monster rushed forth and jumped atop Spirry; the alpha would be upon Newborn within an instance.

Spirry sat up quickly and suddenly on the last moment, lowering his head, so that his horns presented themselves to the leaping monster and so it landed upon them. Spirry stood up, feeling the monster stuck on his head wriggling, kicking and clawing at him, ripping out pieces of flesh rapidly. The alpha then tackled into Spirry's front, with such force that he fell onto his back, the back of his head smacking into the fungus-covered cave floor, and the monster stuck atop him fell off, too.

The alpha took a generous bite of Spirry's shiny fleshy neck while stabbing his claws into Spirry's shoulders, to hodl him in place, the multi-layered array of teeth clinging onto the demonic meat. Spirry pressed his thumbs into the monster's eyes, so deeply they went in-between the eyeball and inside of the eye socket.

Thumbs curled into the interior of the eye socket, Spriry pulled the head backwards and even sprained the neck, hearing the alpha wheezing from intense pain, letting go of the demon and trying to free itself, but the demon held the alpha firmly as the alpha whipped his arms about wildly and helplessly.

The first monster who Spirry had flipped over by this time recovered, getting up, running past the one gored by Spirry's horns and charging the demon. Spirry' still firmly pulling the alpha's head back to sprain it further, felt the other monster snap its jaws over his thigh, to hamstring him, teeth easily tearing the flesh; the monster pulled its head back, ripping open a chunk of meat from the thigh.

Unsurprisingly, Spirry felt good to feel pain, and kneed the monster in the face with the damaged leg, giving it a big surprise; how did the leg move despite having muscles torn out of it? In this instance, the alpha managed to slip away, eyeballs having been moved aside but now in their proper place, but nevertheless, the alpha felt so much pain he ran away hissing, tail low.

Spirry started picking himself up, but the monster who had bitten a chunk out of his thigh bent over and and lunged claws and fangs. Spirry rolled his shoulders, smacking a horn into the reptile's face, though it momentarily leaned side to side and then lunged into Spirry, biting his throat and clawing around the neck.

The gored monster, clearly wounded, had gotten up but lost its aggression, now being more careful, but still crept upon the wrestling. Staring amidst the glowing blueness of the cave floor, this monster noticed that Spirry's wounds healed extremely quickly, quite ironic, condescending Spirry was skinless, faceless, and semi-fleshless, yet could not heal completely, trapping him in a state of never-ending agony. His immunity of pain came form the fact that he was always in constant pain anyways, and did not suffer from it.

The reptile's jaws made a wet piercing sound as it grinded against Spirry's neck, and Newborn felt a rush of excitement, and his blood glowed powerfully, emanating so much redness that that colour beamed out a few inches, even illuminating the insides of Spirry's eye sockets, nasal cavity and mouth.

Spirry lifted his abdomen, movement causing the crazy thing atop him to shift forwards, and in that instance, Spirry grabbed one of the creature's arms and pulled it sideways across its front, and then quickly shuffled around the monster, letting go of its arm and now behind it. Spirry clung both hands underneath the monster's jawline, claws poking through its flesh and fingers griping the jawbone, sitting on the base of its tail, and pulling backwards with such force that he pulled the jaw outwards and broke it, and then, continuing to pull the creature backwards, soon snapped its spine as if it were a dried stick, killing it instantly.

Spirry let go of the monster and stood, and then the alpha tackled into him suddenly. Although still in great pain at the eyes and partly blinded, the alpha could easily smell Spirry, and was eager for revenge.

However, Spirry struck the monster's shoulders with his forearms being vertical, and stopped the alpha midair. Clawed feet scraping against the cave floor, Spirry pushed the beast away, but it instantly dove back into him aggressively; at the same time, Spirry push-kicked into the alpha's knee, and snapped it backwards, dislocating the knee completely. The alpha knelt on one good knee but was immobilized, not even feeling much pain for its adrenaline kicked in. The apha wanted to fight on, but could not get up.

In the instance of that, the gored monster jumped onto Spirry's back, but the demon nevertheless put the alpha in a chokehold, and tightened his arms with such strength he cracked the alpha's neck, and kept a locked grip for several seconds in a blood choke so that the monster lost consciousness. Unconscious and with a broken neck, the alpha would die soon.

Spirry felt the third monster on his back the whole time but the extra weight had not stopped him. But the monster was still biting the back of his neck and wrapped its arms and legs around the intruder. Spirry clasped two hands around one of the monster's forearm over Spirry's front, and dug his claws into it; the reptile shrieked in pain, and then Spirry spun around, both hands still gripping the forearm, and he slammed the reptile down.

Still gripping the forearm but now with one hand, Spriry stomped onto the side of the reptile's neck and head repeatedly and powerfully, crushing the spinal cord and knocking it out; since it's head was pressed against the cave floor, it received full impact and was out cold quickly with a broken neck.

Spirry then walked on as if nothing had happened. Hopefully, he wouldn't walk into another ambush ten times bigger than that on.

Music in the Tavern

At first, Siera listened. She attempted to discern subjects of interest from the words of the tavern patrons through the notes that flowed from the instrument at her lips, tried to fulfil the mission that had been given to her. Yet she realized after a short time that it was useless. Her own hearing was not enough to catch what was necessary to piece together the information, and magically-enhanced hearing wasn’t something she wanted to use. The latent magic that she had spread through the air was enough, and she had no desire to put out any more magic right now.

To gather information, she would have to stop and interact with the patrons...and that was not something she was going to do. It was much easier to simply let Annie gather what she could with whatever assistance the musical magic had been able to give her. Besides, she was a musician, and it had been too long since she had done the one thing musicians needed to: create music. Everything she had done recently had been done to call forth magic, and that was not the true essence of music. That was music that was called forth for a purpose that was not its own, a means to another end.

She wasn’t quite sure when it happened, but at some point during Annie’s discussion Siera’s attention left the tavern and went wholly to what she was bringing to life. To some, it would seem to be work to create the music that she was spreading through the tavern, but to her it was more relaxing and calming than anything else. Effort wasn’t something that she felt she was putting into the song, so adept was she with the instrument on her lips, the feeling of playing the instrument as natural as breathing. It was the talent of one that had devoted their life to an art, pursuing perfection relentlessly with the knowledge that there was always more they could learn.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.
