Zed grinned at Rovaan. "Indeed. All I've done between getting up and coming in here was shop. Seems like new robes are 100% off when the shopkeeper's missing both eyes." He had lucked out on his literal steal of a purchase, the tailor at Copperdale had his entire stock swiped by looters after Azul's attack. But Zed had found a nice set of robes hidden in a back room.

He watched Rovaan offer Kuro a drink. Unlike seemingly every other male on this planet, Zed wasn't too keen on substance-fueled escapism. He preferred to be able to speak in coherent sentences for as much of the day as possible, and the taste didn't appeal to him either. He had tried to be a drunkard, it just never picked up for him.

Zed realized Rovaan didn't know any of the Guildmembers. "Ah, I forgot you hadn't met. Ladies, gentlemen, and Joric, this is Rovaan. Rovaan, this bunch used to be proud members of the Champion's Guild, before it got flattened of course."

Joric Ironfist

Joric listened to all the various conversations as everyone greeted each other, and discussed how things have been lately. "One hundred percent off?" Joric asked Zed, raising his eyebrows in fake surprise. "Must 'ave been quite a steal !"

He thought of all the various faces gathered around him, and what he knew of them. Monsieur Fredic*, the former Guildmaster, was a bit greedy but then again the same could be said for most of Joric's kin. He knew very little about Siera due to her muteness, but from what he had seen she was compassionate and deeply cared for others, and had the look of someone who had seen several horrible sights and will probably only see more. Zed had helped him fight Thazgar, and seemed to be a good guy - someone Joric could trust. Annie was definitely a bit strange, and while he was doubtful of her claim of being a demi-god she was clearly very powerful, but also reckless and a bit careless in fights. Kuro... Joric knew little of him aside from the whole horse stealing fiasco which he was now willing to overlook given how desperate the situation had been. Rovaan and Ethelddra he didn't know, but Ethelddra seemed to know Annie and Siera and Zed knew Rovaan, so they were probably good people.

"I've just been going around, fixing up and changing my equipment. I fought the occasional bandits or dark mages 'ere and there. Nothing too special. I'm ready for another real adventure."

Then, he looked at Ethelddra. "So what's the payment? I'll warn you, I'm quite the... haggler! " He laughed, before continuing. "Though in all honesty, the payment isn't that big a deal to me." Really, he had only asked so he could deliver that joke.

Brodus

Brodus looked at one of his soon-to-be competitors. A fellow soul stealer, it seemed. Although probably for different reasons with different effects. He dared not tell anyone of his swords enchantnent, though.

Not because they might judge him, but because they might steal it. For him, that was a fate worse than death.

Alicia Vendal

"I'll guess I'll just get some mutton, then. And some water." Alicia muttered, slapping a few coins on the table. While the bartender went for her food, she turned and walked over to the blue armored warrior and avian-in-disguise.

"Sorry if I'm interrupting some important conversation, but what's this I hear of Ogres organizing?" She asked, curious. Perhaps there would be some sort of reward if she helped deal with the problem?

The Leprechaun's Foot

Etheldredda's reaction to Annie's comments was hard to see without her face on show, but her voice certainly sounded positive. "I've lived through the worst of the world, Annie. But you showed me the best of it." Her gauntlet clasped onto Annie's shoulder as a sign of respect, before leaning in conspiratorially to tell Annie, "I don't think the guildmaster likes me much either, but he certainly knows how powerful I am now," she nodded towards the man's busted nose.

"It's Federico ," Monsieur Federico muttered to himself as Joric Ironfist joined the group- no one ever seemed capable of getting his name right. The monsieur's home country of Gaules wasn't even that far away from Selathon, he never understood why these people were bamboozled by such a popular name.

Turning away from the dwarf, who was now engaging the other members of the group and clearly would not be his salvation, the guildmaster focused on this Rovaan fellow besides him. "She is lucky I am a gentleman of class, oui, or else I would prove to her why I am the master of the champions guild!" He used a toothpick to demonstrate his fencing capabilities, but quickly dropped the feigned weapon when Etheldredda glanced over.

As the group began acquainting, or in most cases, reacquainting with themselves, Etheldredda went over to speak to one of the barmaids to request Kuro's horse be well treated. When she returned, Siera was handing a note to Monsieur Federico, whose eyes lit up deviously.

"You're going? Do you need me to escort you out?" He asked, gleefully misinterpreting the message and trying to rise once more before realising he was now boxed in by the assortment of gathered adventurers. Etheldredda understood the text's true meaning though, and gave Siera a respectful nod.

Then, the hagspawn turned to the group, clearly deciding that they now had enough members to begin preparations.

"Right," Etheldredda began curtly, prompted by Joric's painful attempt at humour- the woman was not overly fond of jokes. "You're all wondering what this adventure's about. You've most likely heard of Myrkviðr, the haunted forest. There lives a hag coven like no other. They kidnap men and keep them in pits and force themselves upon the captives to give themselves beautiful offspring, which they use as bait to lure in more men to produce more bait," she explained, a coldness in her voice, as though she was distant from what was happening in the room.

"Their vile experiments is what gives the forest its reputation. I was once their slave, now I will be their exterminator. I was hoping to go back in a few more years, with better training and more preparation... Recent events mean that waiting is no longer an option. If a good cause isn't enough for you, then there's money in it, if you survive. The coven is full of trinkets taken from their captors."

After her speech, Etheldredda stood alert and in silence, waiting patiently for a response. Monsieur Federico let out a low whistle.

Gorebucks

"Oh the competition is just lining up!" Soahc said with delight as Ryokin was the next to enter. "Well met, Lord of Crossroads. I thought you were dead, it's been near a century since I've heard someone mutter your name. Very good, very good. Yes, a deal! I'm certainly fond of deals," his grin was malicious, a thin tongue snaking its way out to lick the cracks that formed on his parched lips, which tore asunder whenever he smiled- which was always.

Turning back to the fallen knight and unemployed assassin, Soahc said, "I'm sure we'll get to your names if you survive. Spoiler alert: I'm not much of a team player. It's in my nature, I'm chaotic!" He threw his head back and faked several sobs. "I can't lead an army without wanting to break it. If you can replace my best men, then you prove yourselves to be better men."

"Now let us see, who have we got," the demigod went boss-eyed as he recalled the names of his lieutenants. "Cold Ethyl, a delightfully undelightful wench. One of her sisters would do- you'll recognise them, they're absolute hags!" Giggling, he continued: "Raspur's a merc and a good sport, you'll see him by his whip. Ubaid's a ghost, or a necromancer, or something of the like, I'm not one to be nosy. If you can't recognise him on sight then you're sightless fools indeed. Last is Molloran, a devoted idiot, leading his parade of brainless cultists through the town."

"The choice is yours, but do aim to impress, I'm one for theatrics." With that, Soahc swung his feet from his living foot stool, hopped from his seat, and strolled on over to Ryokin, apparently unconcerned about the competition he had just set. The woman he'd used as a foot rest was now crawling away across the floor back to the other trapped patrons, until Soahc rolled his eyes, pointed at her, and her internal organs burst out of her chest.

The patrons screamed, terrified, clutching one another and vomiting and praying to Tyrrus or to Janus or Arran or even the moon goddess because why not. Soahc didn't really care about them anyway, as a much more interesting piece had entered the board-game that was the world.

"You're an interesting fellow, I look forward to you double-crossing me," Soahc told the demon plainly with a cheeky wink. "I'll give you access to the demon halls again for your souls, all of them, every one you've collected over the years. A small connection, mind, I wouldn't want you becoming too powerful too quickly and leaving little old me!" Soahc tried to pull a pouty face, but found that his body simply did not have the muscles to make that work, and snortled at not knowing this fact.

"Stick with me until the end of the road though, and I'll deliver the essence of Azul the Devourer himself to you, to do with as you please." He held out a hand to shake.

The Plucky Hecatonchire

"Human," Alania answered the hooded stranger with a peculiar look. She could see his eyes, and some sort of mask, but little else of the person's face. However, with idealistic innocence, the suspicion passed almost immediately. "I guess they don't have it this far east. It's called Amaryte, my dad sells it and my uncle's an expert at making it, so I got this for a pretty cheap price," she beamed enthusiastically at the man. "I said I'm going to see the ogres. They're fighting each other right now, I want to see if I can help."

Meanwhile, Karstone was busy frowning suspiciously at Sir Charles, though trying to mask it. Did this man remember something? He was certainly friendly, but then again, weren't all knights meant to be? Karstone wasn't sure, he was just an adventurer. And a badly paid one at that. Karstone Greatjohn had never gotten around to slaying monsters or riding dragons, or whatever it was the kids did these days. His missions had been more low-key, helping the common man from common ailments. As such, he rarely crossed paths with an anointed man.

"Money, aye," the man agreed, tugging his beard. "Bu' no' me entire inheritance fund now!" He laughed heartily, slamming a gauntleted fist onto the bar top. "A bath. Yah'll 'ave t' ge' yah own new shir', Ah'm afraid," he shrugged, seemingly apathetic to the situation, for he was a dirty and grubby man by nature of months on the road. "Dinner too, aye," he said, agreeing with the man's stomach, turning to the bartender Rubio to ask for mutton for the both of them, and beers to boot.

"As tha' loud-mouthed lady says," nodding in the direction of Alania, "Ah'm 'eadin' north. Not *' sigh'-see like her though. These ogres are bein' taken fer a ride, an' Ah'm gonna be the one to stop it. You int'rested?"

Alania's head turned away from her polite stare at the hooded stranger, (she was wondering whether or not it would be offensive to ask about the mask she could see protruding from the shadows) when a woman dressed in light-but-efficient gear came over to join in their conversation. "It's no problem at all," she said, flashing the newcomer a smile to show that she was welcome to the conversation. "The ogre clans have united into two countries, can you believe it? They've gone to war with each other, which is sad, but because they're working as a larger team now they've made a whole bunch of new weapons and discovered some pretty powerful magic. There's a lot of people heading north, me included, to go help. Even the Tyrannian Empire is getting involved, how nice is that?"

Clearly oblivious to all of the false assumptions in her own logic, but also too kind-hearted to believe anything nefarious was at play, she continued. "I'm Alania Clarke of Engelain, and this is my friend, uh-" she gestured towards the man she was originally speaking to, but realised she had no name for him. "My friend," she reiterated lamely.

Desmo of Green Hill

As Desmond began to snooze, a man approached from behind. His trousers were plain, his equally uninteresting shirt was topped by some heavy-leather armour, probably a family heirloom and a poor one at that. The man had brown eyes, black hair, and wielded a halberd in his left hand instead of his right. Seeing the sleeping boy, he chuckled to himself.

"Come now lad, let's get you inside," he said loudly, perhaps to not look suspicious at carrying a young boy away whilst he was sleeping. Putting one of Desmo's arms over his shoulder, the man lugged the boy through the doors of the Plucky Hecatonchire , before plonking him down at a table.

"Wake up now, and I'll get you a drink," he looked towards the bar, then back at Desmond. "Non-alcoholic, of course."

Desmo started to rub his eyes one by one. "Don't take off with my sheep." He mumbled still half asleep. His eyes cracked open and he glanced at the man. Instinctively, Desmo grabbed his right arm. However, he ended up pushing the thorns deeper into his arm. Desmo's stump was covered in small splotches of dried blood. A tear swelled in his eye, but was not about to cry in front of a stranger. The pain allowed Desmo to wake up a little more.

"Ought not mess with me." He said in his best tough guy voice, but still shaken from the pain. "I know a pretty spell that could turn you right into a frog!" He raised his voice slightly and puffed out his chest. "You'd be eatin away at flies and all you could say is 'ribbit'!" He raised his finger and shook it as to imitate casting a spell. Lost in thought he smiled. ~He ought to be scared with all my foolin. He probably be thinkin i can turn him into a smelly frog what a barmy man~

"They lure in men? So they are like demons of a desire of nature. How do they lure men? Is it by magical means or is it something else? If they lure in men, wouldn't those of us that are men be a prime target if we get close to the coven?" Kuro asks questions now he was more focused then he was before learning about the job that is being set up

Kuro then said to Federico, "Also Federico, once we get this all planning done with I'd like to talk to you about a business opportunity, before we head out to the forest" Kuro smiled at something else came to mind when he rode into town.
~

Ryokin looked at the hand and smiled and said, "You have offered me everything I would want, but as for the deal, I will make it to the best of my ability to stay with you but I want something now to prove you will honor the deal."

Ryokin saw the women's chest explode, he then said, "Darn, another waste, I could have tried to make a deal with her to ease her suffering for her soul. The result would have been the same, but I would have gotten a willing soul." Ryokin laughed and said, "Or she could have been used to relieve the boredom of all this screaming. Gimme a second."

Reaching over he grabbed a cup and tossed it at the screaming people then said, "SHUT UP! Your masters are speaking! Keep screaming and I will go over there and pluck out all of your stupid eyeballs and then feed them to you! "

Ryokin laughed at what he did and then said, " Now what was I saying oh right the deal! I want I don't know, the essences of every demon that came with Azul, even the lowest lesser ones, I want the power of those who fail along side Azul. It should be a simple exchange for my services, then we can seal the deal in blood. What do you say?"
and nothing was spoiled :P
