Kaisen stared into the icy blackness of the cave. The tunnel, Sir Amik Varze had told him, led deep into the dark fortress of Agaben. Saren was already deep inside.

Zharoun walked up behind him. "We'd better go in, or else it could be too late for Saren."

Kaisen nodded. He walked into the mouth of the cave, and he fired an earth bolt at the roof of the cave. The ceiling started to collapse behind him. "I'm sorry, Zharoun," the mage muttered, "but I must do this alone."

Zharoun nodded. "I understand," he replied as the cave was completely sealed off.

The cave became still, and Kaisen turned and walked deeper inside. He was trapped inside the fortress of a madman, and he knew that the final battle was approaching.

----------------------------------------------------

Saren ran through the dark corridors to the throne room. The halls were unchanged, and he remembered them all too well. The only light came from dim torches on the walls every so often, casting eerie shadows that gave the feeling that demons were around.

Saren gripped the blade at his belt. He had brought a white scimitar from the White Knight Armory in addition to his whip. You can never be too careful, right?

The huge double doors were intimidating with their imposing size, and Saren took a deep breath before he pushed them open and crossed the threshold.

------Chapter Eleven: A Hero's Death------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Saren!" exclaimed Agaben. "It has been so long."

Agaben lowered himself off his evil throne to face Saren. "Quit the courtesy," Saren growled. "We both know you don't mean a word."

Agaben frowned. "I'm just trying to make your death as pleasant as possible." Saren scoffed. "You were stupid to come here, Saren," Agaben continued. "You sacrificed yourself needlessly. The battle outside is yours, and you would have killed me anyway."

"You know that I wanted to be the one to kill you."

Agaben drew the dragon scimitar from his belt, and Saren unsheathed his white scimitar. "By all means, charge me," taunted Agaben. "Let's get this show on the road."

Saren charged, and the true battle had only just begun.

Saren charged at his foe, swinging the white scimitar with a fierce uppercut. Agaben blocked with the dragon scimitar. The blades clashed, their screams echoing across the throne room. Sparks flew from the contact point as Saren continued driving the blade upward in a mad attempt to decapitate the Dark Lord.
"Enough," muttered Agaben, and he threw Saren away. Saren slid across the floor, his white scimitar several feet from him.
"I will get you," Saren yelled as he picked up the scimitar. He charged again, and the blades clashed once more. This time, Saren slid to the side and pulled his blade in a smooth arc directly for Agaben's shoulder.
Agaben, anticipating this, used his arm to push away Saren's sword arm, and he drove the dragon scimitar into Saren's side with the other arm.
Saren felt the blade cut through his armor like a hot knife through butter. He felt the cold red metal draw open a wound. He watched as his own blood covered the blade.
Agaben kicked Saren's body away once again. Saren's bloody body collapsed several yards away and did not rise.

Saren rolled over onto his back. His muscles ached with every movement, and the puddle of blood around him was growing.
"Is that it?" Agaben taunted. "That was all the great Saren could do? I thought you would have more rage in you than that."
Saren growled and struggled to his feet, finally standing on wobbly legs. He sheathed his white scimitar. "Enough play," he growled. He drew his whip. "I will kill you with a weapon of your own people."
Agaben waved him on. "Give it your best shot."
Saren roared and charged, his whip cutting spirals through the air. Agaben waited and thrust his scimitar at the perfect time.
The blade jabbed right into the open wound, drawing more blood. Saren yelled in pain, but the whip continued its curve and lashed out at Agaben.
The whip smashed into the shoulder of the dragon platebody with unearthly force, cracking the metal and drawing blood from the body of Agaben.
Saren leapt back out of dodge. He was coughing up blood. "Two for you, one for me," he tallied. Though he was sure there was much more to come.

Saren waved his whip once more, and he stormed across the marble tiles to Agaben. Agaben raised his scimitar to stab Saren, but Saren dodged to one side, letting his whip strike Agaben's wounded shoulder.
Agaben howled in pain, and Saren tackled him. Agaben was thrown back into his throne, tearing the chair to pieces. Agaben came to rest at the foot of a huge window of black glass behind the throne.
Blood oozed out of his mouth. He wiped it away. "You will pay for that," he seethed. He opened his palm to reveal several runes. "Now die!"
Agaben blasted a fire wave at Saren. Saren dove out of the way just in time, avoiding being scorched. The marble tiles were singed black and ashen with the force of the blow.
Saren parried the spell, turning to strike with the whip. Agaben dodged and grabbed Saren around the waist. He turned and hurled Saren out of the dark window into the evil night.
