~~Valour~~

Fall not from the line, friends!
Fight them back.
Let not the blade conquer you!
Push them back.
Stand strong and face your foe!
Hold them back.

Look not in dismay
Let it feed your hunger.
At your burning home.
Let it quench your thirst.
Let it not defeat you,
Let it fuel your spirit.

Fight on, fellow warriors!
For Family!
Give it everything you can muster!
For Friends!
Destroy the enemy!
For Home!

================================

Inspiration has struck again. I had to post something a little more epic than the last poem. This one is a war chant meant to boost the morale of troops in battle.

P.S.
I may try to get more involved in the stories forum now that I've finally gotten into the swing of things at school. Expect more posts in the future. :)

~ Afternoon Tea ~

Tea for two, yes, please, thank you
Cesspit of foreign flesh, a dash of milk
A thrash of whip and a cut of tongue
Sugar? Oh, delightful, two spoons
If you don’t mind, white, pure
Sip, slurp, gulp the hot blood, lovely.
Stir it up, around and around,
Atlantic triangle, tins of anchovy Africans
That was delicious, thank you so much
Cup and saucer left with dregs of death.

Anarchist Eyes.

Flames lick,
smoke sticks
to the sky
like suspicious tendrils.
Windows break,
glass shakes
to the floor
like carefree dust.
Voices cry,
free tonight
of the world
like dysfunctional dreamers.

Destruction is a form of beauty.

Just a sad, breathless one.

---

A ball of rock floats in the vastness of space.
It is insignificant,
A mote of dust in a galactic sandstorm
And yet it is all there is.

How could such an inconsequential thing
This sphere of dirt and air
Wracked by wrath and ruin
Lavished by love and life
Be worth so much to so many?

How farsighted was the God
Or whatever powers there be
That first defined antithesis
And forged entirety from nothing!

---

I was struck coming home from school today by how utterly inconsequential and yet of utmost importance our Earth is.

Plus it was time to revive this thread. :P

I like the concept of your most recent one, but it's a bit too straight-to-the-point for me—doesn't make the reader do a whole lot of work to figure out what's going on. =P

That being said, you've got a good sense for pacing, and I love the last two lines of the last stanza, especially the exclamation point. Instills a kind of wonder.

And revivals are always good. ^_^

Winter | 1.2.13

There are summer nights that go on
forever. Girls that smile,
that laugh. Warm beds,
beaches,
oceans.

There are days
when brightness shines
on the soul, and all is scoured clear
by heat. There are days
when darkness shrinks,
when it fades.

There are times,
in summer, in spring,
when a passing glance
can heal.

There are days of clarity, days
of peace. Days drenched in warmth
and seaspray, laughter
and light. In each year
there is a summer.

But there must also be
a winter.

"Both"

Slithering beneath the sheets
Is a fear far too great to meet
Hated by both sides
Who go all or nothing

Ignored by the general public
Blinded by the pressure
They never turned and saw that
I was always less than you or him
You accepted him as an equal
Why not me? I was half the horrible

Instead you left me a tearing chest
Noises from without and within
Suddenly halted, swiveling
Towards the individual
They clearly defined as me

X or Y, they chanted,
Their voices echoing in my head
Their tone angry and demanding,
They spat, commanding 'This or that'
To which I simply shrug and say,
'Both.'
