What has happened to A Poem a Day? Hmmm?
~ Too Old For Love ~
I know I'm asking you,
To back a horse that’s good for glue
When I say I love—
Don’t interrupt, the words are true
I swear by them, your name would be the last thing
On my entombed tongue,
Your face would be the last thing
In my easing eyelids
Sealing earthly ardor
For eternal one.
I know that I've,
Beat the dead horse alive
But now I voice it, I dive
Into your life, splash strive
Ripples in your day, ebbi ng a w a y
And I slip under surface tension, a lonely pension
You forget me,
You get for me,
A cup of cold, old coffee,
And say no.
