“In a way,” the man said. “Right now the Talisman is not in this world. But it will be. And in order to combat the Hounds which will surely come with it, we must act quickly to build an army that can stand against them. That way we will send a clear and precise signal to the enemy that we're willing to fight.”

“Alright, how do we know these organizations will listen to me?” V asked.

“The Order is among one of the few organizations which has the Right of Conscription on any world,” the man replied. “Even if the heads of the organizations refuse to aid you, others will recognize our banner and realize the true extent of the danger they face. You may use such allies in place of the proper treaties if it comes to that.”

“So where we goin’ then?” Grim asked.

The man handed V a scroll with a symbol which looked like a star with four points on it. It almost looked like what would be on a compass, but V recognized it as the Star of Saradomin. “The City of Falador is home to the White and Temple Knights,” the man said. “It’s directly south of our position, so you may wish to start there.”

The man handed V another scroll with a bat symbol on it. “This contract is for House Drakan,” he said. “This may prove to be the hardest ally to rally to the banner, so I advise extreme caution when dealing with them.”

The man presented V with yet another scroll, this one depicting a purple equidistant cross encased in a circle. “This is for the Zarosian Empire,” the man said.

“But they’re gone,” V replied.

“That may be true, but their servants yet live,” the man said. “They may be few in number, but rest assured that they of all people will flock to the banner.”

The man gave V one last scroll. The symbol on it depicted both a diamond shape with an empty square in the middle of it, and a moon surrounded by three stars. “This contract is twofold,” the man said. “One is for the elves who worship Seren, and the other is for a branch of mages known as the Circle of Hecate.”

“I’ve heard of the elves, but not the Circle,” V remarked.

“In that case, the Circle is led by a mage of great power. The leadership position changes with the seasons, so I really can’t tell you who to talk to, but I do know that it’s allied with a group of good hearted undead known as the Raven Knights.”

“So if I find the Knights, I might find the Circle,” V said.

“Exactly.”

“Alright, so that’s all? Just gather the army…and then what?” V asked.

“We shall deal with that later,” the man said. He walked over to the Revenant, and added, “As for now, he shall accompany you. I’m sure Old Ghost here shall be a valuable ally if you get into trouble.”

“He’s on our side?” V asked as he eyed the spirit suspiciously.

“For now," the man admitted. “He may very well pass to the next life during the mission, but I’m not sure. But for now, the Revenant will fight by your side until his unfinished business is done.”

“Joy,” Grim said. “So I’m stuck wit’ two dead guys for a mission. This should be good.”

“By the way,” the man said. “Grim still has your weapon.”

“Oh yeah,” Grim said. One of his arms cracked open, and a crossbow styled weapon fell out from it. Grim grabbed it and tossed it to V, who caught it easily. Examining it, he saw that the rune depicting a battlehammer surrounded by lightning was still enchanted into the weapon, as were runes depicting a lightning bolt, a single flame, and a snowflake. A rune depicting a normal crossbow bolt was lit up as well, and V took that as meaning that it finally had physical ammo functionality restored since his last adventure.

Holstering the Skarjil weapon, V asked, “Anything else I should know?”

“Just this,” the man said as his voice grew darker and colder. “Things are about to get serious. I’m warning you to be careful, because this *will* get dangerous. Ignore the lives of innocents in the meantime, because the mission is too important to abandon over them.”

“Right,” V said. “So I take it you’re getting nervous because the Invader is involved with this as well?”

“Boy, he’s probably trying to break through his prison as we speak,” the man said. “Now I advise you to move quickly. Time is of the essence, and each day you tarry is another day that the enemy gains more of a foothold in this world…and a greater chance of more people dying.”

The man disappeared after that, and V shrugged. Turning to the Revenant- Old Ghost, he corrected himself- V asked, “So what does he have on you that makes you go along with his plans?”

“I…don’t…know,” Old Ghost rasped. His voice sounded ethereal and barely audible, and it was only because of his undead senses that V had even understood the spirit in the first place. “Last I know...bones. Crushing bones…and darkness...surrounded by the wolf and demon.”

“Interesting,” V said. “Any idea if we should trust him, Grim?”

“Well, if Blue says we can trust ‘im, I say we trust ‘im too,” the pseudo-elemental said. “Besides, we can use all the help we can get at this point.”

“True,” V agreed. He turned south, and began walking. “Alright then…next stop is Falador…whatever the hell that is. Any objections?"

hm, cant believe i didnt notice this earlier. I just started reading as soon as i did.
tbh, I didnt know that the story was related to Ogre's Karamthulu idea until I read the first post. I actually did think to myself while reading The Call of the K, 'Hm, this feels a bit familiar.'
the story is a bit more confusing for me than part 1, but not because of posts but because the story goes all over the place and my brain exploded.
but I easily caught back on after some rereading :)
that creature (cant remember the name) that has tusks as arms did feel a bit familiar, not sure why though.
I'm just glad to have found and read this. There's a bit of humour here and there but I don't remember all of them.
Apparently everyone says ass a lot, which is something I think about a lot.
so many asses, so little time...
other than that, until next time, looks like all hell's going to break loose in a bit.n788

^I'm not gonna lie and say that using Ogre's Karamthulhu was the first thing in my mind. Because the idea didn't even occur to me until we started talking ingame and the subject of a follow up came up from nowhere :P
Yeah I know that there's a lot of plot threads seemingly going all over the place from the start...I personally hate it but the problem should work out in the next few chapters once things start slowly tying together and we end up with one or two groups to focus on instead of...like, 50 (thank god) O_o
And I didn't even notice the ass part tbh (kinda chose the worst time to start this, so been too distracted to notice). Good catch? :P
As for the tusk creature...all I'll say is that it was in part 1...and that it was sort of a minor character at the time thanks to the Doomhound arch overshadowing just about everything after a certain point.

I havent read the previous threads, but I just read the prologue to get a feel for your style... and hell, you're an amazing writer Hatter :)
Great work!
I'll get around to reading this eventually, but I should likely read the others first :P

^Why thank you. I try my best :)
News about chapter updates: Unexpected sickness managed to set back writing...so extending the post date by another week or so (might be different from what I predict thanks to catching up with missed schoolwork and stuff).
