“I really did*’t think of that,” Aiden said, worry beginning to seep into his voice.

“And she probably has no clue just how bad this invading force is,” Caden said.

“Right…so, new plan,” Aiden began. “We get to the castle, kill that Ogre, and see if the White Knights will be smart enough to take advantage of our distraction.”

“How will they know about what we’re doing?” Caden asked.

“We’ll figure that out as we go,” Aiden replied as he began to leave the alley. “Now c’mon. If we’re lucky, we can take advantage of the chaos to get by unnoticed.”

“You go on ahead,” Caden said. “I’ll stop by the bank and see if I can salvage something from my account first, then meet you at the castle.”

“This isn’t the time,” Aiden snapped.

“Yeah, but I figure if we’re going to die here, might as well prepare in case it’s our last moments together,” Caden replied.

“You’re still thinking about that?” Aiden asked. When Caden nodded, his brother shrugged. “Right. Well, in that case, good luck and all that. We’re going to need it.”

Aiden left the alley, causing Caden to sigh in relief. He knew his brother meant well, but matters of the heart seemed more important to him at the moment. Especially if he ran across any of the Raven Knights, who were sure to be far more powerful than he was.

“But ya always got me*****,” he heard a voice squeak. Caden looked around, and when he saw nothing, the voice said, “On ya shoulder, mate.” Caden looked on his shoulders, and on his left one sat a tiny red imp. The diminutive demon only smiled a mischievous smile filled to the brim with tiny, pointed teeth, and its stubby horns made it look like an infant demon.

Caden shook his head glumly. “It’s just the Dwarf Weed at work,” he told himself as he began to leave the alley. “It’s just that damn Dwarf Weed. Even I’m not unlucky enough to have an imp follow me around.”

Azura was yanked back to consciousness by what felt like the invisible hands of a giant. She had no other way to truly describe the experience, and she even felt a sense of awkward vertigo as the Surok’s chambers rocked and twisted back into view. She must’ve fallen to the ground as all this was happening, because the next thing she knew she saw the dark mage kneeling over her, wearing a mask of concern on his features.

Surok spoke, but his words were drowned out by a loud wail. It took Azura a few minutes to realize it was her who was screaming, so she stopped once her wits came back to her. Her pride already injured enough for one day, she allowed Surok to help her get back to her feet, causing dust to stir in the air as her boots scraped against the forgotten stone floors.

*That was quite a scare,” Surok said. “Tell me…what did you see?”

“I…I…” Azura stammered. She thought for a moment, recalling the events she had just seen. No matter how vivid her memories were, one truth was inescapable, and it left her lips easily. “I have no idea.”

“Fair enough,” Surok replied as he studied his shelves. “Were there at least any names mentioned? Maybe I can make sense of those better than you could at this point.”

“All I heard were a few names,” Azura admitted. “Abaddon. Nergal. Yahweh. Those names seemed normal compared to the last one something mentioned.”

“They sound…familiar,” Surok replied. The mage was leafing through a thick tome that seemed as if it was about to fall apart at a moment’s notice. “But how normal are we talking about? Surely the last name you heard couldn’t have been too strange compared to the others?”

“I saw…some…thing,” Azura said. “It looked like a walking corpse. Possibly some sort of demon zombie. It called itself Azathoth. I’m not sure why, but it frightened me greatly, and that’s never happened before. At least, not to that degree.”

The tome in Surok’s hands smacked against the stone floor after he dropped it in surprise. The sound, small as it was, echoed loudly throughout the chamber. “Did you say…Azathoth?” Surok asked, his voice cradling the border between panic and caution.

“Yeah,” she replied. “Do any of these names even mean anything to you?”

“They do, but I cannot tell you their significance yet,” he said. Surok strode towards the scrying pool, and made it vanish with a wave of his hand. In its place stood a small pedestal engraved with dark designs dedicated to Zamorak, and a pentacle appeared on the entirety of the floor itself.

“What’s going on?” Azura asked nervously. The mage seemed like he was in a hurry as he spoke numerous words of power, which caused the pedestal to glow brighter and brighter by the second. The soothing purple ambience of the room was now being replaced by an aggressive orange glow, and as the seconds passed the room seemed as if it was built within the sun itself.

“Listen,” Surok said as he approached Azura. He forced something into the palm of her gauntleted hand, and she looked down to see a ring sitting there in plain sight. An onyx gem dominated a twisting and curved band of silver, and it seemed to radiate a malevolence which was on par of the legendary evil displayed by the Black Demons from the Abyss.

*What’s this?” she asked.

“Something very important,” Surok replied as he returned to the pedestal. “Now, listen carefully. Many people will try and gain possession of that ring…and your gauntlets. Whatever you do, don’t allow that to EVER happen.”

“What’s so important about it?” Azura asked hurriedly as the pentacle started to glow a cerulean color. “And why can’t you protect it yourself?”

“I can** say, because I don’t fully know,” he answered pointedly. “But I do know enough to the point where I’m a target for those searching for it. On the other hand, you’re just an ignorant adventurer with a powerful trinket from a dragon’s horde. That gives you the advantage in this war.”

“War?!” Azura screamed. “What war? Against who? And what the hell does this have to do with you needing my help anyway?”

“Just do me a favor and cast a quick fire spell,” Surok said. “Aim for the pentacle…otherwise this won’t work. And before you ask, your power will activate the results I want from this spell. I’ve already tried my own magic and failed, if you’re curious.”

“But…”

“That’s enough!” she heard a gruff voice scream from behind her. Azura turned in surprise, and saw a pair of newcomers in the chamber. One was a beautiful blonde in mithril armor that seemed to be in disrepair, and the other, a man clad in black leathers decorated with white spiderwebs. A tattered cloak hung on his back, and the eyes-or at least what she assumed were eyes-were little more than two pointed white spots which resembled teeth more than actual eyes.

“Oh for the love of…you again?” Surok asked. “I thought I left you back in Varrock!”

“And here I thought the White Knights had you under house arrest,” the black-clad figure said menacingly. “Looks like we were both wrong.”

“Alright, everyone just stop!” Azura screamed. She approached the newcomers angrily, and stared daggers at the man in leather as she readied a defensive spell in her mind. “Just who the hell are you and what’s really going on here!?”

Page 34, post 2
"A small circle of six hooded figures stood in a circle in the center of the chamber..."
They're standing as a circle already. =o

Page 36, post 3
"Demon and mage alike struggled to keep their balance, and the web-like material began to >>> write <<< (writhe?) in what Azura guessed was agony."

Just thought I'd point that out, just in case.

As usual, it's just me stopping by telling you that I read the chapter. Look at that.

So, mages trying to make a weapon to counter the coming doom, as well as many other factions who also seem to be preparing themselves. Interesting to think what will become of them in the aftermath of what will come.

Ppssshhh, Yoda rip-offs...
Caden, next Chuck Norris? Hm, everyone wants help from Azura.

"Belial" ...I like that name. Kinda funny how it'd be the name for such an important figure since 'Belial' means 'worthlessness' in Hebrew.
Lucifer, Yahweh, heh, clever. Speaking of Yahweh, it's pronounced something like 'Yavhen' is old, old Hebrew.

But, I've read the word fool, like, nine times this chapter. Fool isn't really a powerful word. =0
Think it's a bit weird that Caden was thrown through a wall and yet the monsters bash down the gate. Guess the hole was too high, can't remember exactly though.

Well, that's that. Until next part, I suppose.

Swear to god that part with the six and the circle said group. I blame the holidays and copious amounts of booze for that and the other typo, but it's fixed now O_o

And yeah, I'm well aware of what the meanings of the names are. I'll just go out on a limb here and say that the character names aren't a coincidence :D

I can't think of any other words to use without sounding repetitive and crude, sadly enough :< Do you have any better ideas that don't involve a thesaurus?

"Think it's a bit weird that Caden was thrown through a wall and yet the monsters bash down the gate. Guess the hole was too high, can't remember exactly though. "

Wellll.....we're talking about being thrown through a wall and ending up on the ramparts....which is pretty high for a goblin to get to, let alone bulky creatures who might just be way too big to fit on the area in the first place.

If anything I'd be more worried about the thing that's strong enough to toss a human being around like that so easily.

*like, 9001 edits later and I still can't freakin type right this late at night. Gonna call it an early one and get back to you on this when I'm more awake >.<*

lol, np. We all make mistakes as we're human. It's late where I live too so I probably got a bit confused here and there myself.
I like the names, especially names with meaning; it makes the story more impactful and helps me enjoy it more. Giggle, worthless gods, never thought of dat b4.

As for substitutes for fool, sometimes you can just not bother using an insult as a last word. Oh, but for other words, moron, idiot and buffoon works, but if you're looking to stay within modesty, I'd just finish the sentence without any insult. It's just that reading the same thing too often kinda gets, say, annoying.

Of course that's just me, not saying you have to change it to best suit me. You can use archaic insults like mooncalf or snapdragon, but I think they'd be worse than fool lol.

Well, good typing.

I could've sworn I replied to this already last month, but apparently I forgot about it during the finals shuffle >.>

I won't lie and say that reading the same things a lot is fun. Because it isn't. But at the same time, my English vocabulary is also somewhat...err...limited because of the language being my third. Though you might be onto something with some of the 'insult' words you just mentioned o.O

Update ETA: Sometime within the next week or so if all goes well. Worst case scenario it's up after New Year's.
