Coming from another skiller, you're making zero sense here.
There were always bosses in the game, although yes, there wasn't as prominent a PVM player-base (THX EOC), they still existed and still were decent money.
None (or at least none of the intelligent ones) of the PVMers here are complaining about stone spirits because they hate skilling. That has nothing to do with anything. They are complaing that the drops pre-M&S are much more valuable than the ones now. Which they are, your calculations using the stone spirits values are not only irrelevant (you actually make more str8 selling them and not to mention, make more just continuing to pvm rather than use them to mine), they're time-bound. Haven't you noticed all the prices are falling? This is because Jagex has no clue what anything new is worth (as proven time and time again). The prices will soon be almost completely worthless, save for the few, top-tier ore. Mining with the E&S pick, only Banite and Animica takes any amount of time to mine, reducing any use the spirits have.
I personally don't really care, I mean 10 years ago having more than 100m was considered rich
Jagex, your original idea to keep M&S out of PVM was a great idea. I think you should either re-evaluate stone spirits, or replace them with salvage, like you did with the bar drops.
Other than that, nice update, I'm enjoying ironmanning my way to master work. I realize that the M&S patches are big topic right now but I agree with others, it would be nice to have some more actual content in the near future pls
