I'm struggling to choose between 'Temple Desecrated' and 'Return of Lucien' which are some of the best boss fight themes I've ever heard. But having to choose I'd have to say 'Return of Lucien' , 'cause it's just a notch more epic than former, but still... 'Temple Desecrated' echoes through 'Return of Lucien' and that means it's still there - between the lines.

It's the soundtrack to one of the most epic and exciting stories I have ever experienced. That piece of music takes me back to one of the best quests in the game:

My battle with Khazard, Wahisietel duelling with Lucien, Sliske's heroic first appearance (before... you know.. he started to be all evil), Akthanakos and Enakhra locked in fierce combat, Azzanadra fighting Zemouregal, Arrav's rebirth as a hero, Jhallan being sacrificed, Azzanadra unveiling the power of Zaros and Lucien dying at the hands of the Dragonkin.

It all comes back to me, and I remember why I fell in love with the game in the first place.

The music so wonderfully supports the story - so many great stories and tales woven into one epic finale (and beginning). A finale I had anticipated for years since starting to play this game. Even better is that I can take that piece of music and use it while playing other games to make almost any final boss fight much more epic.

Any last battle always has the sound of the Return of Lucien.

Faces Obscura. The base line steals the show and blends so nicely with the ambience.
Been using it as my alarm clock for the past few years.

Was a good quest. I don't even remember why I started it, but recall the sky fortress and that the mellow music was spot on. Pretty sure I also did it with a new amp I got at the time, so hearing it on a $1k setup didn't hurt the experience.

Gotta say my favourite song might have to be Empyrean Citadel. I first came across it as an unlisted track on top of Armadyl's Tower, which I visited after seeing a strange figure at the edge of the draw distance in my game. This was shortly after my return to Runescape after a rather lengthy absence, and when I reached the summit of the tower I was blown away by the view and music that greeted me.
After going to the wiki and finding out what mystical tune was playing I pretty much always kept a youtube tab open with it playing, until that fateful day I started Missing Presumed Death.

I was enjoying this quest even before entering the Empyrean Citadel (because my RS Character is one of those Yay Zammy, boo Saddy, so was having a whale of a time at a Saradomin monk murderfest) but imagine my the increase of my enjoyment when I complete the first section, teleport away with everyone's favourite puppy dog, only the be met with the oh so familiar tunes that greeted me at the top of Armadyl's Tower! Then what followed was my first meeting with someone who soon became my favourite character in all of Runescape, and who would inspire me to try and complete all the quests required to fight him (no joke, he's pretty much the reason I kept playing). This desire eventually became a desire to complete ALL the quests in Runescape.
So now whenever I hear this song, I don't just think of standing onto of Armadyl's Tower, looking down upon Gielinor, I am instead reminded of my goal, my dream, to complete all the quests and become the character I dreamt of becoming when I first heard this track.

Also doesn't hurt that the track is lovely to listen to as well.

Book of 1000 songs will always be my favorite. I went to my first Runefest on my own but I brought my guitar in case there were any other musicians there. Turned out a bunch of Jmods were playing music and I was able to join in with a few songs (Including Book of 1000 songs). They made me feel incredibly welcome and really made my day.

I think I have to choose several songs just from how much they surprised and inspired me when i first heard them and they would be: Citharede Requiem, Winding Through the Willows, The Reaper's House, Night of the Vampyre, and Zarosian Reprise. My favorite though would have to be Lament for the Hallowed. I think all of these tracks added beautifully to the story and atmosphere of the game. Titan! to thee the strife was given
Between the suffering and the will,
Which torture where they cannot kill;

The wretched gift eternity
Was thine — and thou hast borne it well.

Newbie Melody all the way.
I spent 3 days in tutorial island because I was like 6 when I made my account and so I just started grinding. Granted, that was my old account, ended up just stopping on that and using this one. Newbie Melody has always been the most reminiscent song from Runescape for me.

Workshop.

When I started RS I had very slow internet and couldn't listen to music on youtube so I went looking through runescape soundtracks. Somehow I really liked this one and ended up listening to it alot, usually while fishing lobsters in Catherby.

My personal playlist is filled with RuneScape compositions, but one track from my favorite quest stands out. Nightmare at the Cradle has just the right blend of orchestral elements and dubstep elements, two genres I enjoy. I think the combination represents Zaros, my favorite deity, very well. Though rather repetitive, this repetitiveness perfectly reflects the battle as the violins grow more and more frantic as the onslaught of muspah grows more and more brutal. Also, the brief moments of silence right before the drops are when I picture Mah’s screams. Years after completing the quest, I still find myself reminiscing about the battle and acting it out in my head with Nightmare at the Cradle in the background! Kudos to Adam Bond!
Two honorable mentions: Book of a Thousand Songs and Harmony . I started playing RuneScape in November 2008, so the login screen had the retro (but not RuneScape Classic retro) theme. Before RuneScape 3’s music, that track was easily my favorite composition, so any variation with the same theme is a winner for me. The atmosphere of Book of a Thousand Songs truly succeeds in its intent of evoking nostalgia and a sense of adventure. Harmony didn’t stick out to me too much until its RuneScape 3’s rebirth, but then I could really appreciate both the original’s charm and the reworks’ beauty. The Har’money remix is great too!
