Im running runescape on a debian based linux os and the game just constantly keeps crashing. It gives me an error message saying: GTK-Message Failed to load module "atk-bridge"
corrupted double-linked list. Please someone help, it is so annoying!

the corrupted double-linked list error is sadly a known bug caused by mesa.
A fix for it has actually been found and merged so it should be fixed in the next mesa release.

Other than that I've heard that the snap version of the game bundles a mesa version that doesn't include the issue so for now I'd recommend playing via the snap .

Having some issues -

Running on Arch Linux (nvidia drivers 5.15.48.07) with Plasma 5.24.5, they've removed xrender as a compositor and using the OpenGL, transparency on my OS works perfectly fine, until Runescape is launched.

With RuneScape launched, all transparency stops working - system wide.

Has anyone encountered similar?

test program transparency without RS:

test program transparency suddenly stops as soon as RS is launched:

Is there a reason RS is wrecking my system in this way?

Clients tested with:
AUR runescape-launcher
flatpak com.jagex.runescape
snap RuneScape
steam RuneScape with proton

Every single one has the same issue.

Edit: Found out my issue.
Settings -> Display and Monitor -> Compositor -> UNTICK "Allow applications to block compositing"

Ah, transparency works fine most of the time, but it's as soon as rs client is launched, all transparency stops.

Settings -> Display and Monitor -> Compositor -> UNTICK "Allow applications to block compositing"

Facepalm.

So I've been dealing with my client being completely unplayable for over a year. A few days before last spring's dxpw I started getting crashes. Is persists to this day. During this it has sometimes been worse and sometimes not. Still always unplayable realistically.

I dabble at it from time to time and it seems it could be related to Mesa drivers. My question for those of you following this issue, can I just skip Mesa altogether and install the older, proprietary AMD drivers?
