I used to use the native Linux client found in the Ubuntu Software app. About a year ago it stopped working, and it appears there are good fixes in this thread that I will have to try out.

However, the main reason I stopped attempting to play on Linux is because I keep reading reviews both in the Ubuntu Software app, and outside of it, that some Linux clients look like macros/injections/etc to Jagex, and they get their account suspended indefinitely.

Has anyone else ran into this issue? I am afraid to launch any RS client on my Linux system because I don't want an account I've been using for the past 15 years to get banned.

Thoughts?

Thanks

Generally speaking, none of the packages are going to look like a Macro to Jagex at all.

There's sometimes extremely unfortunate situations like this , but in my honest opinion, a substantial amount of "I game on Linux and got banned" is actually perfectly reasonably explained, but no one ever gives enough information to make a proper conclusion. There's thousands of current users of third party packages for Linux, and literally tens of thousand of users for the old "RuneScape Unix Client" by HikariKnight, there's absolutely nothing to suggest to me that any problem with Macro detection isn't either someone doing something risky such as in the linked post, or a straight up fabrication.

Mind your sources I guess.

Awesome, thanks for the quick response. I've never had a problem in all the years past, just wanted to be sure before installing again. Looks like if I stick to suggestions on this thread, I'll be good to go! Thanks for all the time you've put into getting Runescape to run on this OS, it really is a life saver!!!
