I've ran apt update/upgrade multiple times so that's not the issue. And my launcher is 2.2.2 yet it tells me its fully up to date so I'm not sure how I upgrade?
Also got libpng12 so when I type I try to launch its now changed to
/usr/share/games/runescape-launcher/runescape: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libcurl.so.4: version `CURL_OPENSSL_3' not found (required by /usr/share/games/runescape-launcher/runescape)

2.2.2 is a very old version of the launcher, you definitely need to update. All the issues you have run into are because that old version of the launcher is built for Ubuntu 14.04

Try re-running the install script from the runescape download page

Well turns out that was the fix after all that. I should've thought of that before but I figured re-running the installation might be a bad idea. Thanks for the help and patience
Never gonna let you down

Guys help me,

With Java apparently ending soon for RS3, I need help;

1. Can an Acer Chromebook 11 CB3-131 (https://www.acer.com/ac/en/GB/content/model/NX.GR3EK.001)
Install Ubuntu 18.04 via via crouton/chroot and run the NXT client (alongside 1/2 OSRS account)?

2. Apparently some Chromebooks now have access to Linux (beta) within Chrome OS (https://www.howtogeek.com/363331/how-to-set-up-and-use-linux-apps-on-chrome-os/)
Can you actually download and play NXT/OSRS clients this was to play on a Chromebook, without installing/booting Linux the “old” way? Also, does anyone have a list/know which Chromebooks have Linux beta enabled?

3. If the answer is no to the 2 questions above, what are some good Chromebooks which can run Ubuntu 18.04 and the NXT client alongside osrs^ . No touchscreen or whatever is must. Just rs <.<

4. I obviously have grown accustomed to playing on a Chromebook and I love it, but can someone throw some cheap Windows laptop, for again, the sole purpose of running NXT and OSRS. I know they are the enemy, sorry.

Does anyone know n simple way to launch runescape with primusrun/optirun?

When I try: optirun runescape-launcher, the rs2client itself does not get launched under optimus.

I think the only way forward is to create my own runescape-launcher.

Sushidame,

1. It has a Celeron CPU and Intel HD graphics. Maybe you could start an NXT client and two OSRS clients at the same time but I wouldn't expect it to run very well. I wouldn't expect it to be playable.

2. Someone tried this a while ago and it didn't work. IIRC, the Linux kernel is in a virtual machine and there wasn't enough support for the graphics of the games.

3. I don't know what to recommend. I thought the point of Chromebooks was to offer a low cost alternative to budget Windows laptops. Maybe there are some Chromebooks with better graphics systems than the Intel HD graphics but I'm not very familiar with Chromebooks.

4. I've seen budget newer Windows AMD CPU based laptops recommended by Sjm1992003a for NXT because of the integrated Vega graphics. You can search for his posts using the Search Users option at the top of this page.

5. There are Chromebooks that support installing Android apps. However, the mobile app was made for a touch screen rather than mouse and keyboard. I'm not sure the mobile apps will work without a touch screen. I haven't seen any posts from people saying if they had success installing and running the Android mobile apps on a Chromebook.

So... The mobile version would be the perfect answer, however! Right clicking is apauling! You have to hold down to right click, and the performance is for some reason better on my phone than it is on my chromebook.

But to answer your question, idk about the java version but the NXT version was working in Crostini, however I am unable to run it anymore due to the following error :
/usr/share/games/runescape-launcher/runescape: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libssl.so.1.1: version `OPENSSL_1_1_1' not found (required by /usr/share/games/runescape-launcher/runescape)

And no idea how to fix it. I've been told to upgrade the packages, to reinstall the game or the OS. I've done all the above, with no success...

I have "unexpected server response" when trying to select game world, and it's already like this for hours.

I'm using Ubuntu Linux 18.04 and I installed the client using snap from snap store (snapcraft.io)

Thanks !
