bump same issue just got a used laptop on ebay with the intent to run rs on linux. (rs runs faster on a low end laptop with linux vs the same laptop with windows) I setup 18.04 and no luck. I guess I'll be stuck at my desk to play. No netfilx and skill
.
It is such a shame that I am struggling with installing/running the Flatpak version of the NXT client. I understand that JAVA needed to finish it's life-cycle yet I always knew I could fall-back on the RSU client. I'm lucky that I always have Windows installed as a secondary OS but this is extremely frustrating since I just reinstalled Linux Mint....

On the AUR, runescape-launcher package: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/runescape-launcher/
There's a comment from a user that points to an older .deb package. That package contains the runescape launcher, which seemingly allows the client to start.
With the guide at: https://runescape.wiki/w/Linux
Replace the https://content.runescape.com/downloads/ubuntu/pool/non-free/r/runescape-launcher/runescape-launcher_2.2.6_amd64.deb URL with https://nullroute.eu.org/tmp/2020/rs20191226/runescape-launcher_2.2.6_amd64.deb
(I forget how to format this nicely, but if I figure it out I'll edit this)

I was planning on playing some Runescape 3 instead of OldSchool which I usually play, but since both the .deb and the flatpak package are missing the actual executable (/usr/share/games/runescape-launcher/runescape and /app/extra/runescape respectively), I'm not able to play the game.
Are these files available somewhere else, or do I have to wait for a correctly packaged package from Jagex?

I'm guessing the issue mentioned above is the one affecting me. I tried installing the NXT launcher using Jagex's official instructions, and tried the flatpak version but this is all I get when I run it through the terminal:
/app/extra/runescape-launcher: line 18: /app/extra/runescape: No such file or directory
Running Ubuntu 18.04.4 on a HP Pavilion dv7 4020sa, with a 1.8 GHz AMD Phenom II Triple-Core Processor P820 and ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5470 Graphics. Full spec list for laptop in link below if it is of any use:
The executable is also missing for me, I had the launcher working previously but just reinstalled Ubuntu 18.04 and am having this issue. Are Jagex planning on fixing this? Here's my error just for completeness:
Setting up runescape-launcher (2.2.6) ...
Failed to set capabilities on file `/usr/share/games/runescape-launcher/runescape' (No such file or directory)
The value of the capability argument is not permitted for a file. Or the file is not a regular (non-symlink) file
dpkg: error processing package runescape-launcher (--configure):
installed runescape-launcher package post-installation script subprocess returned error exit status 1
Errors were encountered while processing:
runescape-launcher
E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)
Checked '/usr/share/games/runescape-launcher/' and there is just a png image file and no executable. Is the executable hiding somewhere else?
