Old School feature poll #14: Minigames (19-Dec-2013 09:41:17)
Question 4 failed and yet here it is again. Albeit is got 73%. If it does get re-polled (It should not) then limit it to non-teleport spells so that teleport tablets don't lose their current demand as the one click/one space teleport.
Lets try and think about more than one purpose for the saradomin tear, shall we? We can use our little noggin and realize that it will be used for pking also, not just training. You voting no will just further push the update to become dead content. And for the people saying tent + dragon defender will still be better than the tear....Think people...75 attack 1 defence pures can't use dragon defenders, nor can zerkers. So the tear will be especially important for 1 def pures and zerkers in pking (not just training).

I agree that the poll vote percentage should be lowered to 66%.

Why? It still captures a majority vote without a small minority keeping the update from happening. I believe if 35%+ players don't want something it shouldn't be introduced.

Okay so I like almost all the ideas but there are two things that need a change.
1. The Saradomin Tear needs to be changed to 15k-20lk hits before it degrades. I say this because it is considerably more expensive than a whip so it's not quite the same as the tentacle.
2. Make the Magic Shortbow (i) more relevant by giving it better range attack bonus than a normal magic shortbow because just giving it the update of 50% spec with will make it dead content out the gate because no one specs with it to begin with.

Care to check my idea on adding an upgrade to Abyssal Tentacle? The upgrade would offer STR option and has 3 solutions to making the Saradomin Tear far more relevant and worth using. Summary: Abyssal Tentacle and Saradomin Sword now have the same abilities, combat styles and are up to each others standards. The Saradomin Tear will now make the Saradomin Sword the most efficient strength training weapon in game and the solution will give it extreme longevity. The Abyssal Tentacle will be a far less coss effective weapon and thus will reserve it for PK'ing.
Also I should add a note: Jagex confirmed STR option to Abyssal Tentacle will not add an extra point of damage.
I do like that the reward emblems will be tradeable. This will probably get my vote.
But I think the devil is in the details.
Does it matter if you aren't risking anything when you play? I mean like 1-itemers or those only risking low level gear? Or does risking more mean more emblems?
Does it matter if you kill someone higher level than yourself? Because when the player count thins out, you could possibly see level 126 players hunting level 80's.
And of course it has yet to be determined how quickly you can get emblems and how many it will take to buy the different rewards. This will make a big difference as to whether BH is now the best money making method, or whether it doesn't cover the costs of arrows even if you win every fight.

Do not fear, I agree. I want Jagex to immediately bring the polling system to everyone's attention. No waiting, this will only harm some of the massive polls coming up, such as Corporeal Beast, Bounty Hunter and Dragon Claw polls. I do not believe a poll is the proper way to re-evaluate the number. We did not originally choose, so it does not make sense to make us hit 75% to fix the number. If I had a say on how it should be done, either:
1.) Jagex hand-picks the number themselves again. They've now seen that the 75% comes with consequences and biases that effects the overall number. The number is higher than 75% after a few select biases are factored.
2.) A poll is posted which will be passed based off of majority vote. Once again, we did not choose the number. Thus, it makes no sense to make us hit 75% on one number. If this does not get done effectively and we fail a 75% poll like a huge number of our poll questions do, we will suffer severe long term damage. So if #1 is too much for Jagex to handle. Give the community a majority vote.

I'm curious about this... The theory is "give incentives" and players will gear to be ready to take on their target. This can be abused. Rushers, luring into clan/team traps, asses being asses by doing anything in their ability to troll you and not let you get your target kill.
*Edit. Moved the question to a tweet. Sorry I keep hitting up this thread. I am very excited and enjoy communicating with the community and pitching ideas. You've done a great job, keep it up.

The first dev blog mentioned a minimal risk requirement. What they intend to do about raggers preventing players from pvping (which is their sole intention), clans, etc is to remain to be seen though.

Believe magic to only be for support? Think again. It's just as valid of a Pking style as melee and range is.
