I am no fan of the forestry update. I think it was an overcompensation for one or more J Mods distain for the woodcutting guild. However I shall endeavour to give some feedback.

Campfires and tea sound terrible. They add more to an already buffed update.

The new events themselves sound fine and I like the idea that one will be free to play. That being said I am concerned that not all of them have a poll question as they don't fit the 'not being polled' part of the charter.

The Fox and Pheasant pets look cool, although feel weird as a transmog. With the exception of raid pets I've always seen transmogs as keeping the general design of the pet but morphed a little. These two feel completely different, one isn't even the same class of animal. I understand having multiple (rare) pets from one skill goes against the grain but perhaps it's something old school is ready for. Not every pet needs to be super rare and not every piece of content (bosses or skills in particular) need one.

Finally the Rewards. The twitcher gloves sound great and the 2H axe is a nice compromise for XP/Resources, although since forestry has buffed woodcutting so much I don't see a need for it. That being said, what is going on with those axes? I expected something more in line with the woodcutting tutor, with less of a focus on the blade and resting on the shoulder.
RIP Forums :(

Curious your completely removing the leaf effects but what will become of all the leaves I got by using the secateurs in my kit. I farmed quite a few and made those secateurs in the knowledge something was coming with those leaves... As you added the ability to collect leaves before p2 that in itself is my problem, as I also spent resources on the secateurs already used and got many more leaves and unused secateurs since reading the feedback page i have stopped using them.

I do hope you find something to do with them. As the wasted supply on getting the extra amounts using the secateurs i made is alittle irritating to me.

Look forward to the update non the less, just remember the people who have accumulated the leaves and made secateurs. We need something useful but still based on the level of the tree where the leaves were gathered. Honestly good work on the other parts, I like anything new to do or grind towards in the game.

Thankyou for your time,

I've just read the updated version and I'd say the changes are mostly good and I will be interested to hear the outcome of things such as using sawmill vouchers in the POH.

I am really concerned that you're going to add Artic Pines unpolled. This is definitely going against the poll charter.

Edit:
Just read the person above's comment. I don't think you should force anything to the game to account for players assuming leaves would be worth something. However if someone has a significant amount perhaps they could get some infused bark (or something forestry related) as compensation.

I was excited for Forestry when it popped up on Game Jam. I found part 1 underwhelming but I assumed the best content would be saved for part 2. I guess you won't be surprised to hear that I am disappointed.

Tea:
Easily the worst part. I know some rewards were criticised but that is not a reason to cancel the most interesting part of Forestry Part 2. You can come up with different rewards right? Or look at some player suggestions, I've seen a couple of good ones.

Campfires:
When you initially mentioned "Bonfires" I think everyone naturally assumed that this would involve putting logs in the fire at a very slow rate for some AFK xp. This seems natural and consistent with how current auto-actions such as herb cleaning work.
But instead, you go with the approach of letting us chuck logs in with short intervals while also crippling the xp gain. Who asked for this? Are you aware that Wintertodt exists? I can afk there for free firemaking xp.

So is resting at fires scrapped too? If all campfires have to offer is an incredibly niche Firemaking training method, then don't bother adding them at all.

2H Axes
Seem needlessly complicated, but I think literally everyone agrees to this. You claim it will be better in the beta, but the poll is before the beta, no? Just poll it after the beta.

Sawmill Vouchers
Feels a little contrived but otherwise alright. Should absolutely work with the Plank Make spell.

Events:
One problem I had (and still have) with events is that many of them are not woodcutting at all. Why does tending to a sapling give Woodcutting xp? What wood am I cutting? This should be Farming.

Arctic Pines
Stop changing the game for snowflake ironmen accounts.

----

Overall I think a big problem is how vague the initial blog was. If I knew what we were (not) getting I would probably have voted no to most options. But it is too late now. I hope you can at least get tea in the game in some manner.

Wholeheartedly seconded. The teas were easily the best part of Forestry. They gave players a REASON to practise woodcutting, apart from training for quests. Because there is none at the moment. If you need wood for fletching (why on earth would you train fletching? But that's a different story), you buy it from the GE or get maple logs from Miscellania. Hardwood for Construction planks, same story. Actually chopping down trees for their wood is, unfortunately, almost never worth it.

Now, the teas ensured that there is a reason to chop down trees. But this has been scrapped with some ridiculous reason that boils down to "if the effects are good, people would actually use the teas." Well, yes, that's the entire point: effects that are useful and not just to woodcutting itself. Boosts to thieving? [cont]

[cont] Fantastic! What's this story about a poor new player having to do all those things to optimise his thieving training? Nobody is forcing him to go for the optimal setup, and moreover I imagine the teas would be tradeable. Honestly, the way this update has developed feels as though there is some kind of unbreakable rule that new content MUST NEVER be good nor ever invalidate existing content.

Well, for woodcutting, there is nothing to invalidate. The best training method is chopping teaks until 99, for Guthix's sake. Teaks should not be worth chopping for xp past level 50 at the latest. The recent RS3 update was very good; it rebalanced all chopping rates for trees. High-levelled trees such as yew and magic are still noticeably slower, but they are not as utterly hopeless as they were prior (and are in OS).

If the proposed tea effects weren't ideal, change them. Some quirky ones like extra minigame points (provided they work based on rounds played rather than time spent) or something related to clues would be very interesting. But the flat boost to gathering and production skills is also very desirable. And that's GOOD! People should want to use the teas. Give them a reason to make the teas by woodcutting, or to buy them from people who do so.

Saying that woodcutting and whatever it outputs should be restricted to the skill itself ("Chop tree, get wood.&quot ;) is mental and not going to work: unfortunately, the skill is not the best source of wood. Giving it some rewards that help with the rest of the game (in a balanced manner, of course), on the contrary, would help.

As for the bonfires, either let the xp rates be such that they are a more relaxed and slightly worse alternative to line firemaking (Wintertodt will probably remain the best method by fire, err, far), or don't bother at all. 1/3 of the xp is plainly pointless.

The 2h axes are probably also too complicated, I agree. The basic principle should be: more wood, less xp. All this per-tick chance [cont]

[cont] business is needlessly complicated. Go for sometihng simple: two logs instead of one per successful chop, but half the xp (so, a net ¼ xp per log), or something. That might give Woodcutting a shot at being a decent source of logs. If they rely on run energy, nobody is going to use these things, with how the run energy system works in OS. As a side note, the axes do look quite snazzy; but they should be useful, or else forgone altogether.

The new events sound fine, although I don't see why the new pets should be transmogs of the (very very rare) beaver. Why can't they be pets in their own right? Whilst RS3 has waaaaay too many pets, surely OS can manage a number of non-boss, non-skilling pets that aren't ridiculously rare apart from cats?

Adding arctic pine logs to the Wintertodt doesn't hurt anyone, but, yes, stop catering specifically to ironmen and pures in general, please.

Finally, I'd like to comment on the existing rewards. Some, like the log basket, are pretty nifty. But two stand out as needing improvement. One is the clothes pouch. What is the point? You can store your woodcutting-xp boosting outfit in it but why would you? If you wear anything else with some kind of effect, you lose the woodcutting bonus. Please just make the effects stack; 2,5% extra woodcutting xp AND graceful isn't even close to overpowered or anything.

The second one is the forestry outfit. You need 5000 bark and quite a number of expensive logs to upgrade your lumberjack outfit to... something cosmetic (apart from the pre-existing 2,5% bonus xp). Please give it some secondary effect relevant to Forestry. A small boost to bark gathering would already help, but it should not be an entirely cosmetic ‘upgrade’.
