(Since the news article links to the wrong thread I'll post this here again)

I can't see any reason why you guys would think it's a good idea to put such a controversial event into the game without polling it.

Especially because it has no reason to be in the game in this form. It's basically the same as if you'd put an event into the game where you can vote for some new King and after the event you get a trump wig or something like that. Both are incredibly political and incredibly polarising.

I'd have less problems with the event if it would fit into Runescape, instead of it being shoved in as is. You're basically trying to push a square peg into the circle hole.

For example, you could have made the event about a goblin which was born in the wrong body, namely that of an elf. A trans-goblin so to speak.
It could have happened because of a magical mishap or maybe one of the gods wanted to punish him.
Something like this would actually shine a light on what problems such a goblin might face without shoving virtue signalling down our throats.

Think like a gamer, not like a political activist, and you can avoid many issues with the community like: splitting the community, polarising it and even seeding hatred.

please stop shoving this down our throats like every other corporate entity. not everybody likes it and at this point I'm joining the crowd that takes a hard turn at anything pride related because it obviously shows you want to be political and force ideologies onto myself as well as children. canceled sub, questionable return

I understand that the OSRS team wants to support this particular part of the community because it's an issue that is very important to the team. They have faced community backlash for previous pride events and I'm confident in saying that their continuing to host these events is a very strong statement of their support for a community they feel (and have likely experienced) is underrepresented and mistreated. I want the OSRS team to know that I'm trying to meet them halfway in an attempt to understand where they are coming from in hosting these events. My issue with these events is this: In a world that has divisive political controversies shouted and forced from nearly everywhere, why did my virtual home have to become victim to it too? I play Runescape to escape from reality with my family and friends. In game, I often turn off public chat to mute out any players who want to inject current events into the game. By adding game content that is known to be highly divisive, both morally and politically, the OSRS team has shown that they will always add controversial content into the game if they deem it appropriate - polls or no polls. I find it deeply concerning that they will add content they know helps some but actively hurts others. Imagine a player who uses this game to calm anxiety only to find that the team this person trusted has now used the game to cause anxiety? At this point, I am truly grieving for the time when games could focus on being great games rather than being a civil rights platform. An alternative to the official pride content would have been to simply allow players to announce and host their own purely player-led events that OSRS Mods could have then shown up to show their support. I believe that officially integrating any highly divisive current issue into the game is an error that only hurts the game and community and does not help it.

Happy pride! Thanks for ensuring marginalised communities have their voices heard :)

I'd like to encourage those not happy with the event to simply not participate in it as they can for all other in game events :)

Would you also say that if an event was hosted that opposes your political beliefs?

Regardless, please keep ALL politics out of this game! Or at the very least, poll it before developing!
