I really don't see the point in this. It's a bunch of updates put into one skill from my point of view. And to argue a few comments about it being good idea.

About being scared to try something new? It isn't really the newest thing to be implemented into RS2007. There are some new idea's sure, but isn't it the older ones that made Runescape the game we love in the first place? It'll be cool to see these added to current skills, even though I don't fully support them, I know it'll be useful to other players.

PvP/PvM? I joined RS2007 as a skiller, and one of my goals is to obtain a 99 as a skiller before starting combat. The grind is already real as it is, and I'm enjoying the grind I felt back in the day. I see this as a lazier type of skill, for people who are tired of the game and want something new to do. Or for players who want to get their skills higher faster and complain about the grind.

Nostalgia? This is true, people don't like change. Little bits of change has been what runescape has been thriving on, bringing in more people on little idea's as it is. Something as big as a new skill will draw lots of people away as it is, and it'll seem like to them their nostalgia is gone "We didn't have this rip-off of a skill back in my day"...yeah we know. It seems like they want their EOC crowd to join in with the 2007, as it is clear there are two split communities. Even though it may not seem like it is under my name next to this post, I did play back in the day, and nostalgia isn't a bad thing, it's just highly overrated*

TOO LONG;DR: The base of RS07 was nostalgia, and people can't deny that. Take that away and you'll loose many players, but not all. Similar to what happened to EOC, people don't like change. My reason for voting no is that it can be easily implemented into updates added to other skills much easier, without a bigger grind/hassle on a new skill. But, for the majority, they want their nostalgia protected as much as possible.

Going through some of the pages in this thread I can see a lot of supporters for the skill are suggesting the people who don't want it are narrow minded and selfish, mostly because they prefer the 2007 game.

The main reasons people don't want it are:
It doesn't feel old school, adding a new skill doesn't feel right.
The skill itself is quite complicated because the devs have been adding ideas for new rewards when this game shouldn't have this.
There are too many rewards, the closest skill we have to this is slayer and that is pretty simple compared to this.
It doesn't feel like it'd fit into the game, it feels like it's been added on top of the game.

So it's not selfish or narrow minded to dislike the skill which has already proven it's not ready in a poll, I can't really see any major differences between this dev blog and the last one except for the fact there is a paragraph trying to explain that it'll get more people into the game but I cannot see that happening, I don't see divination bringing a lot more players to rs3 and I can't imagine artisan bringing many players to osrs.
RIP Forums :(
Finally we have signatures in the surprise forum update. I'm Lewis, I play Old School & I've been playing since 2005.
