Perhaps, along with the addition of the Colosseum, players could be rewarded not only with the "entrance fees" of others, but also with a decorative weapon which would increase in tier much like a duelist's cap or a wilderness hood in RS3.

The weapon a player wishes to obtain (sword, bow, staff, shield?) could be chosen by claiming one from an NPC. While the player offs more opponents, the weapon would become more and more elegant. If the Oldschool team feels up to it, it would be neat if the weapons were fully customizable in some way!

These are just the basics of the idea, feel free to build upon it!

One huge point is skills. They either can't be trained on this new content, or must have worse XP rates then the main/default continent. If you add better methods it will make the normal continent dead content, at which point it's not even oldschool anymore. Furthermore, I have grown quite tired of over the years working tirelessly on a skill for it to become **** easy a few months later. Runecrafting, 'nuff said.

Agreed.

For my third (and hopefully last) post, I'd like to suggest something a little silly.

You mentioned that one new civilization is to be strict and regimented like the Roman Empire... I know that RuneScape does a lot of "stretching the truth" when it comes to historical references etc. used for comedic value and charm, so I'm gonna throw this one out there.

What if you had a character outside the empire walls named
Machiavelli
(or a reference to the historical figure) who was recently exiled and is seeking revenge? Another idea would be integrating a
Thoreau-like character
instead, making his home by a pond surrounded by woods just outside the empire. He just wants to get away from it all!

While right now these two characters are merely suggestions for NPC's, I could see a few great storylines/quests stemming from both of them. They could be fun! :)

What is the current continent called? We have the kingdoms, and the name of the planet in the common tongue - Gielinor, hope I got the spelling right - Perhaps it doesn't need a name?

Although I am for naming the current and the future continent.

I'm not a entirely sure how the God Wars (I mean, that event several ages ago) distinguish between RS07 and RS3 / RS14.

Did Guthex name this the planet?
If so, as people spread further from the area around the Portal of Life did they gain their own religions for other parts of the war? Were they unaffected and perhaps consist of far older cultures? (Ancient Greek/Roman and Oriental civilizations may fit that.) Or did they participate. Or perhaps, they may have their own variant of the Guthex religion in the main continent. Even a different name for many religious figures...

I'm getting off topic.

Ill just go with an interesting one...

Secundus, or some variant. It 'the second' in latin.

With a few alterations, and influences from other suggestions...

Secundia?

Secuterra? (Vaguely meaning second land? Also, it sounds like a type of gladiator who uses a gauntlet and sword.)

Or an oriental twist, following the meta-meaning of being the second land.
My traditional chinese isn't good, but one pronounciation for Second Land is 'Dì èr cì tǔdìv' and that would be given a more medieval latin spelling, and it could be chunked.

Di Tudiv? Dierci Tudiv?

Anyway, I've given more than my share of suggestions and brain food.

Ok to all those people saying at what point is this not oldschool etc anymore can i ask why u dont want to see updates???????

I love the idea we can build rs as it was when it was fine and keep it interesting and fresh with new updates that keep me entertained while playing. It's fantastic we can go in our own direction and make a good game with the mods.

stop ur crying please.. oldschool with no updates is deadschool

This is the type of content I like to see you guys doing! Impacts the game positively without degrading any existing material.

A suggestion: for Port Roberts, I would be wary of making it too difficult for people who have chosen allegiance with the gnomes and are thus treated with hostility. For fishing, maybe make it so that the players can be attacked while running to bank or something, so that the people who don't side with the pirates don't lose out on the xp.

The words "the amount of fishing they’ll allow you to do" make it sound like you'll be kicked out, and that would make this area useless for those who want to train fishing effectively, thus they won't go there.

One more suggestion:

I would say don't make the new areas hard to access, in terms of quest requirements or something. I've played Runescape since 2004, and there are several areas I have never been to because they are quest specific or something.

There are also HUGE areas of the Runescape Map devoted to a quest or two. For instance - West Ardougne - useless outside of plague city, same with Isafdar and Tirannwn, and some cool areas like Zanaris that you can't get to if you're a pure.

I realize making some types of accounts disable some content for you, but I guess I just mean it would be a shame if these new areas were only accessible by quest.

Going off with I said previously:

Original message details are unavailable.

The Origin of Ikov

Although released in 2002, no one has any idea who this is. All what is known is that they help protect the Staff of Armadyl. Perhaps it's not one person, but a whole clan instead? The Ikov come from the land of Ikovia, which is known for their Colosseum.

The Fire Warrior of Lesarkus

Released with the quest "Temple of Ikov," no one has any clue who this is either! We must kill him in the quest, and we never find out who or what this Lesarkus is. It is known that he is pure fire, and can only be killed via arrows of ice. The Lesarkus could easily be the name of a land which is part of this new continent.

The Flames of Lloigh-enn

Think back to the flames that would appear when you logged into Runescape at the side. These were the Flames of Lloigh-enn! Although only referenced in the 23rd issue of the God Letters by Zamorak, the new continent would be the perfect place to include this as a Easter egg in-game.

The Home of The Oracle

It would be UBER cool to reveal the home of the oracle. She has been an iconic character for Runescape. Showing her people, the land which she comes from, would be awesome. I just picture this clan surrounded by a campfire, or hidden away in a ancient temple. Think of the quest that that could involve!

The Home of The Oracle could easily be this frozen, snowy place everyone wants. In game, the unreleased land of Acheron could be the perfect place for this. You could also tie in the Lesarkus here as well; what better kind of creature to survive such environment than one made from pure fire?

For the underwater city I think the following things will be cool to add:

Farming
Underwater farming patches where you can grow your own seaweed, and also to be able to grow anemones in the herb patch which you can use for creating new types of potions.

Hunting
Also a new underwater hunt area would be nice! Think of the kebbit hunting, but then underwater. A new hunt animal could be created for this :D .

Crafting
A new necklace to be crafted, made out of pearls. Perhaps the ball of wool which is used as string to make an amulet can be replaced with a pearl necklace. So that would create a pearl necklace combined with an amulet (without string) and give the wearer a better (fighting)bonus underwater.

Agility
A new agility course is to be needed ofcourse! :) Currents and narrow rocks can be used to create it. Also a new underwater agility outfit will make you more suited for the life underwater. For instance a set of flippers will make you faster!

Another thing which I think would suit the underwater city is it to have its own currency, just like the Tokkul which the Tzaar use. Think of pearls or something like that to make a new currency.

Ok... That was it :)
