Botting is ridiculous and greedy, taking fun and profits away from legitimate players.

OSRS is (or should be) for players who genuinely like to play for the fun. Not the real-world profit.

The only way we, as a community, can help (because it will remain an never ending war), is to report suspected botters.

It's like that old Vietnam saying "Kill them all, let God sort them out." Well, report all suspected botters, let Jagex sort them out.

So, I today I was doing some vial runs trying to earn some money
I noticed about 10 different bots total botting there so I closed the door of the npc
and the bots got stuck also reported all of em, so I looked further in how bots work
and I figured they re searching for things like colors objects points etc. and that the
bot programming is mostly done in pascal and java so I was like I wish I could get at least some of the bots banned and then I thought why don't modes recruit some players to help them do the job as volunteers.
ofc the players must have some common sense about how bots and games work etc.

For example I looked into runescape bots and how they work so now I have the basic idea
how bots work and how to make them crash/stop working I have also seen smart bots with a lot of failsafes in their program also I cant help myself wonder what would the bots do if they'd get teleported into somewhere while they are botting
so they would prob. just stop or log off if its failsafed.

The main points I would detect bots would be:
1. the bots answer you (it may be some specific words that they can recognize and give some answer but they wont get complex questions)

2. the bots cant solve the unexpected for example the bot is programmed to go into
bank but there is suddenly update the bank has a door and its closed it would not know how to open the door so it would just keep clicking on the banker

3. Randoms are good idea but the bots can be programmed to do even the randoms
and randoms **** off legit players at least me time to times.

there are many more options to figure out if player is bot or not it just takes basic knowledge of how bots work.

Also there are 100 ways to detect bots via data sent to server for example
the bots mouse moves directly to specific colors or its going like 24 hours in a row without a break robotic movements etc.

Also I'm quite sure that there are a lot of players who would enjoy getting bots banned like me.

I UNSUBED!!! i just got banned for 2 days for botting.. i have never used a bot in my life... i was at grotworms and using my zartye bow..of course im going to kill them fast but i get reported and lose 2 days of time..no no im am so against using bots abd i get banned for 2 days for using one haha right. check my ip address bots log from a different address i have been on the same one for months .. TMO333

I could not quite make my point at last post due 2000 letters limit.
So I thought Ill write little bit about me

I'm from Estonia, 19 years old I'm Learning at ICT collage at Estonia which means I know quite a lot about programming and how games/computers work overall.

Also I used to own community a lot like Runescape so I got quite good picture how stuff works around here.

So I was thinking why there are bots out there at all like whats the point of it.
so there not many options.
1. bots are making gold and selling it for $ also old school gold is about 20 times more
expensive then EOC gold.

2. players are lazy to train their stats themselves which can be quite annoying.


More about detecting bots.

Like I said before I used to own community a lot like Runescape I had also deal with banning some players then there was also problem with bots and players who could not speak English and respond you so we did something else to get their attention and make sure that they re not bots even if they didn't speak English
Also I always took some kind of proof of the player botting to show them later incase they contacted us and asked for unban, and well yeah if we didn't have the proof we did unban them too.
the community was about 3000 players so we managed it with 12 persons.
however Runescape community is huge and I don't know how many mods there are out there active and taking care of bots which is the main issue here at least that's the main issue in my eyes.

If I had ability to ban bots I would do it cus I'd feel pure joy cleaning the community of bots.

got question >****; i was training mining like for 5mins mining while training range on main and i was got banned for macro for 14days i used mouse keys for drop ores after i droped 2inv irons~ got dced and banned so wuts going on with this bot watch system-.- tried to appeal and send email and now respond for week , well now doesnt matter probl will end ban sooner till some1 will respond. so mouse keys allowed on 07 or not-.-

Red Chins hunters are at least 50% bots but more probably it's over 80%.
i have been testing different methods to lure and disable them but the more modern bots have a safe guard and will not leave the area towards the ogre. They work around obstacles like fires, laying their traps around them. if only I could do something to disable or kill them!
I report all the bots I encounter but it seems so useless.

The random events are useless. i noticed that all bots handle those with ease. They never respond directly, only when the npc asks again they respond and solve the problem. It may be better to change the randoms to a npc asking questions that have unique answers related to the gameplay by the user. The questions should be refreshed on a weekly basis or so.
Also it would be nice if a player could do a very little bit of damage to another player. Like 5 hitpoints or so per minute. Make a poll for that!

there are many more options to figure out if player is bot or not it just takes basic knowledge of how bots work. Not just that, but having observed them long enough whilst cutting yew trees has taught me a bit about them. They seem to all use the same bot, based on their movement patterns and their reaction time to a tree being cut. They run from tree to tree like ants, all going to the same tree approximately at the same time. It isn't quite the instant the tree was cut, but still slower than the reaction time of a person that's paying attention to the game.

Furthermore, the way they run away from random event attacks is a dead giveaway. They usually let their health drop halfway before fleeing. Usually people run away or actually fight back, but this isn't what the bots do.

To conclude, there are still so many bots at popular XP/money-making locations and simple observation is enough to teach the average player how to detect and report these bots.

(Sorry about mistakes in my typing, my first language is not english)

I've got rolled back in old runescape and lost all my money and armor that i had.
I've wrote more then 5 times to Jagex.
I've got no answers. (Or automated-messages only)

Of course we all HATE bots. They kill the game. (Just like EoC but that's something else)

You guys punish Experienced Good Players while you're trying to destroy bots.
You are DEFINITLY killing runescape by yourselves.

How can i say this ?

Lets start!
#1 - You are responsible for your rollback thing that you want it or not and if i waste days of membership and i keep loosing my stuff, there's no point in playing. It took me 2 days with several hours of playing getting them, give them back!

#2 - People Play this game and enjoy it until they get banned/rollback for no reason. People that we can call "newbies" does stuff for ... reasons i ignore most of the time while good players WILL ACT LIKE BOTS SINCE THEY KNOW THAT THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO LEVEL UP. They dont intend to do like bots, it is just the best way to do it!
So the best way to avoid being banned/rollback is being half-Newb and under that. People get mad and then leave the game.

Now how could we solve this problem? Talking about it just dont change anything.

#1 - Some activities are out of any doubts acts that bots only would do. (Such as getting stuck and clicking at places that just dont change anything)
#2 - Give people back what they lost by your fault in less then 24 hours. (24 hours is enought to decide to quit playing)
#3 - If there's actions going on that MIGHT be botting act like it could simply be GOOD PLAYERS ACT, send somebody to actually check it! Put yourself an "alert" thing and send someone there to check! Try talking to the guy! Even on "no chat" he has to see what you're saying and give him like 5 minutes max to answer.

Right now i'm looking for Mods Attention.
