I know you can't talk about current anti-botting tech as that's sort of a trade secret, but would it be possible to talk about issues you faced, say, 5 years ago and how you dealt with it then? The whole thing is rather fascinating to me.
Times change and as bot development advanced, so did we in order to stay one step ahead. How we dealt with the situation 5 years ago was just as aggressively as we're dealing with it now. Only now, we're confident in having a very specific refined system automate the process for us. Of course, it needs some manual intervention from time to time to keep it on the right tracks but we're still as committed now, if not more, than we were many years ago.

I was actually wondering if you (or anyone involved) could talk a little about how some of it worked and possibly share stories if any exist, either in blog form or other. I asked about the old stuff because I'm pretty sure the standard answer is that "we can't let the botters get a head start on getting around our latest tech".
I've played for more hours and years than I care to admit to most people, and I've often thought about ways botters might be detected and how they'd work around it. To me, the bot and spam detection sounds like the most interesting part of any developer's job working on runescape. It's almost like war games playing out in my head. That's why I asked if there was anything that could be shared.
