Thanks for this, but I wonder what's happening about the accounts that have been wrongfully banned :(

The number of mistakenly banned accounts is very very small. Infact, over the past few days it's been hard not to notice the plague of threads in this forum claiming false bans. Upon investigating, it turned out that there were multiple individuals using the false bans as a means to get a previous ban for a much more serious offence overturned.

What's more, we also saw people who'd never been banned claiming they were. For what reason, we don't know. But those who were genuinely affected by mistaken bans will and have been dealt with.

I understand that, but I know and live with someone that has been banned and I know 100% they have never botted in all their years on RS. They are still banned, pending appeal, although some other people have been swiftly unbanned.

It's just hard when there seems to be no order to the accepted appeals, so we don't know when or if her offence will be quashed.

I know you can't talk about current anti-botting tech as that's sort of a trade secret, but would it be possible to talk about issues you faced, say, 5 years ago and how you dealt with it then? The whole thing is rather fascinating to me.

I wish more people would read it and stop mass spamming General with 'I'm false banned threads'

Nice to see Jagex on top of this and doing the right thing.

Tuffty.

PS. Great work on the Bot Busting. Nothing worse then Bots and Gold farmers.
Comprehensive Account Security
Live long and Prosper...... :P

Times change and as bot development advanced, so did we in order to stay one step ahead. How we dealt with the situation 5 years ago was just as aggressively as we're dealing with it now. Only now, we're confident in having a very specific refined system automate the process for us. Of course, it needs some manual intervention from time to time to keep it on the right tracks but we're still as committed now, if not more, than we were many years ago.

The tech we had back then? Was and is still very good, but as times move on, it only gets better ;)

There are a few people in Mod Mat K's clan chat that are claiming to be incorrectly banned, any chance a Jmod could help them out? They can't post on the forums due to being banned on their member account. They noticed Mat on the forums helping other people, that's all.
