Im glad to see botters getting destroyed but at the same time i wish more was being done to help out those WRONGFULLY banned in the process... i lost my account after a month of playing 07 for 'goldfarming', even though i have never botted before on this account or any other, am constantly interactive with other players in game ect..., but i think i got caught in a flax picking sweep or something because i was picking flax/making my own bow strings alot for yew longs to alch... Customer service is less than helpful to put it nicely it is sad to be so helpless to losing an account ive had, payed for and played on legitimately for years.

Original message details are unavailable.

@Mod Reach

Found a very heavily populated and obscure bot location:

-Rimmington yews, by the chemist and where the bush tree patch is below Melzar's Maze. Tons of yew bots there on every world.

Definitely not an obscure spot. Just because many might not think about cutting there, doesn't mean that nice little patch hasn't been heavily botted as long as there have been yew bots, which stretches clear back to 2007 and before...

No, this is actually a perfect example of a spot Mod Reach and the others involved in getting Botwatch up and running in OS should definitely be aware of. Yet nothing happens.

That spotted started getting hammered by bots in late 06, early 07 on f2p, not sure when p2p bots decided it was a cozy home.

I've only attended one (just to see why the hell people were being wrongly banned really) and found the entire thing superbly moronic, we never left world 333 and the entire thing was remarkably wasteful in its method (not that the Jmod was gonna be effective to begin with, but we only hit like 4 spots and few bans were handed out).

That said, the remmington yews are\were a popular spot for f2p and possibly p2p (didn't pay attention) woodcutters for a long time because bots so happily ignored the spot and it really isn't a bad spot for f2p, particularly firemakers.

I was merely using that as an example where nothing gets done at what I feel should be one of those 'obvious' spots Reach mentioned. Since it's been botted so long and all. After bots went on hiatus in 08 I actually cut yews there quite a lot, using my house to bank. It's not a bad little spot to woodcut if you can get a tree out from under the bots.

In answer to the question, no I really don't feel any of the yews around Varrock constitute an obscure location. But then I could just be biased having spent a lot of time in 06-07 as f2p and remembering the armies of bald green dudes on all those trees.

As for the bot bust events, I went along with some of those in 2011 when they were tried with players. That's the first I'm aware of attempts by Jagex to hold these 'community events'. And it was actually started, spearheaded, and organized by players to begin with. After Jagex finally responded to those players who wanted them involved, they turned the events into a farcical publicity stunt (youtube videos and all!) in an attempt to make themselves look proactive. I doubt this is much different, I question the effectiveness of these stunts, and I will never go again.

Bot busts started as pmod (and maybe jmod) features because they could rapidly report everyone in the area...I think. Not a pmod, but its what I gathered.
