Im using a macbook, can't open the download.
Says: OldSchool.msi
What is a msi file, and what can I do about it?

msi is a Windows installer package. You can't use that one.

What you can do is install the mac client from the main runescape site (look for Downloads in the GameInfo section). Then use the settings from the wiki page "RuneScape Client/Multiple Configuration Setup" to direct the client to oldschool.

I don't know if they're going to link an already-configured mac client to the oldschool page like they've just done here for Windows, but in the meantime the above instructions should do the trick.

I use windows 7 and i get the same error when installing...

Fantastic to see now that players can download a official old school client to play, I have now got it and will be really useful and much better than a browser!

When I double click the file, it immediately gives me a message saying "This installation could not be opened. Contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid Windows Installer package."

So yea, it doesn't work for me, and I use Windows 7 Professional, with Java and everything all up-to-date.

EDIT: I redownloaded the launcher, and now it installed without any problem. Thanks for the update.

Just out of curiosity, why did we need another client? The RS3 client converted to run oldschool using the method posted when OSRS came out works just fine.

I have both an RS3 and an OSRS, and I've never had a problem.
