An update that brings Construction out from the enclose of the POH is always welcome. Currently there are just a few quest requirements outside there that I remember, which is just barely good with the fact that one still can bring in and take out many things from/to the POH. Without that, Con would be as much of a fail like dungeoneering in the worthless version of RS (the mainstream RS3).

So the pure fact that one can do Con outside the POH would be enough for me, but if it's a not overexpensive training method, even if one can't flash-train 10 levels a hour burning hundreds of millions of gp in that hour, that might be a good alternative for me. I have no time, but also no daily millions of gp income for the current"fast but expensive" method.

It also seems to fit in the world well. I keep seeing the house interiors since 2005 (when only the mainstream RS existed) and I always wanted to be able to affect/change them. Of course the NPCs need renovation and changes for their furniture and other set up at home, in shops, etc. The more NPCs are available for this, is better.
I'd prefer a randomizer that can randomly assign ANY NPC/interior when accepting a new job, instead of being just 4-5 selected NPC who would require the same 1-2 jobs over and over, if possible. After all, it's 2020. I play RSC because it looks and feels classic on the surface, but the internal algorhytms still can be extensive and powerful.

Not that any of this will make a difference but I am genuinely sad that I found myself voting No to this. This is an update I've been waiting for, for over 3 years but the poll felt way too rushed. Almost like you're scrambling to get anything passed after the failed Boss Slayer Master blog.

My reasoning is 2 fold.
1. The actual content is not fleshed out enough. Are we going to NPCs in the world or in house portals? Do we completely redo their house or just fix up a few items? How many supplies do we need to bring?
2. There were no XP rates discussed. The justification of this in the latest Q&A was so there would be time to balance, but you didn't even give a rough range. Since construction XP can head up to 1m+ an hour, saying it's significantly less could still be a lot. I guess it all depends on how much we actually have to spend to do this method but that takes me back to questions raised in reason 1.

Don't get me wrong, I do want this update to happen. I just want it to happen right and the current state of this blog is not right for me.
RIP Forums :(
Finally we have signatures in the surprise forum update. I'm Lewis, I play Old School & I've been playing since 2005.

Great suggestion!!! I think the high amount of Carpenter Points for the Carpenter’s Outfit is necessary indeed. This construction update could be seen as a Construction minigame right? I would like to mention, that there are 31 boss and just 8 skill and 13 other (including Pet rock etc.) pets. I don’t have to calculate anything to see the disbalance in these numbers.

Why don’t we add a pet at this Mahogany Homes minigame? This would make it more fun to do the minigame even after you’ve reached 99 construction. Maybe add the pet as very rare chance in the Construction Supply Crate? OSRS is much RNG based, why don’t we add some in this minigame?

Hi, Construction definitely needs a change, looking forward to it!.

To answer the ultimate only question, 99.99% (Except rare HC Ults) already use the loot bag and Zulrah to bank their items and keep a clear inventory defeating the point of being ultimate in the first place, so the construction plank bag actually will have nearly 0 impact.

Seeing how you have to earn it, it seems like a reasonable idea, lets do it!

Looking forward to the good ideas, keep them coming.

Of all the skills in Runescape construction is the stupidest to train right now. Imagine building a chair, smashing it to bits, and rebuilding it over and over again. Some people seem to forget that this is a game and won't accept anything that isn't A. tedious, B. expensive and C. unrewarding. Wintertodt is my favourite content in the game at the moment. It turned firemaking into a fun activity with cool rewards and some actual purpose. A construction method that allows players to level the skill by doing something more interesting than cookie clicker sounds perfect to me. In terms of xp rates, rewards and other balance issues people might have - that stuff can be worked out, it's not like the devs are idiots.

Have just a little confidence and vote yes please.

This sounds pretty cool, I agree that construction needs an update.

Will the improvements we make to the NPC houses be permanent? Like will a house I just fixed up look better and have more working amenities than another player that haven't worked on a house yet?

Also just a thought, Its kinda lonely in my nice house that I've build. I think it would be a nice touch If I can have a NPC wife and some kids that stay at the house, someone to look forward to seeing when coming home and excited to see me.

Thanks, keep up the good work.

I'm happy to read this proposal and I would definitely vote yes to this.
Some months ago I proposed a similar alternative way in the forums to train construction (albeit not as detailed as described in this post).
In my opinion construction has currently the worst skill training method in the game. Allthough it's super fast, it's very annoying to do and not fun at all.
The rewards look good and the training method itself is extensible (new kind of jobs could be added in the future).
More kinds of wall kits would also be awesome, but probably you just created one now for demonstration purposes (in case the poll failes, which I hope will not be the case).

I just have some doubts about the equippable saw. I do like the idea, but wouldn't this introduce some kind of inconsistency in the game? Some tools will be equippable and others not. This can be confusing imho. I think this needs some additional thought. Should all kind of tools in the game be equippable (and usable) at some point ? or only specific ones which are locked behind certain activities (like this one).
