Poll requirements

The requirement to vote in polls is currently a skill total of 280 on a member account. The website poll system knows your membership status, and it knows your skill total, but it doesn't know anything else. Players have often suggested that we change the requirements to include other data; suggestions included combinations of skill total, quest points, recent in-game time, variety of items in the bank, and more besides. However we've always had to say no, since the website didn't support any of these things. But the game does.

If we were to launch in-game polls, and players were then willing for us to remove the website poll system, it would become possible to apply requirements like this sort of thing to the in-game poll menu. Naturally we wouldn't go changing the requirements unless you asked us to, but at the moment we can't even offer you the option.

Disgusting. More voter disenfranchisement is what this says to me. Anyone who plays OSRS should be able to vote IN ALL POLLS regardless if they're a level 3 skiller, or a fully maxed main.

I'm appalled that you've even listened to the ideas of the group of players in this game who want more restrictions on voting because they somehow believe it will lead to certain poll questions going in their favor*

You want a level 3 skiller to be able to vote about PvP,and a man who has 99-99-99 with 1000 Total lvl to vote about Artisan?

If I may chime in, this all goes back to my 75% polling bias argument. I really respect the staff for choosing the large number, but it is beginning to effect us.

Yes: A bare minimum total must be established. The current total (280) can be achieved in an excess of an hour. I am fine with that, but any lower and anyone could create an account and harm results. God forbid what would happen if membership wasn't a requirement!

In conclusion: Be assured, opposite play styles exist and so do their very opposite opinions. Be assured, a short percentage of players don't want any updates at all and vote no all across the board (so much for 75%.) These make a slight impact on the total percent we actually get and make it unfair. I try not to preach it, but cannot help it, we did not choose the number. I've seen far too many players get upset. In some cases, I've seen over 70% of the community upset. It just seems a little harsh.

when you add ingame polls and maybe increase req's to vote are we getting re-polls for updates like g.e/revenant cave/pvp armours/bandos boots bonuses, and other updates that should of passed?

Maybe everything that failed with above 60 or 65%

Sad to see my Varrok Harold option isn't getting support :'( However I do like the minimize the report abuse feature, I think it's great and it's getting a lot of support.

The problem is that a good amount of people just don't bother reading devblogs.

This was by far my favourite and I think the only one I said I'd really like. It'd give me an easily re obtainable item and it's like checking for jobs in a paper :P Loved it.

@ Mod Ash,
Would we be able to possibly feature more polls with this, rather than having a large dev blog for small QOL updates that often don't get any explanation in the dev blog.

I assume we'd have the polling booths based on the polls current outcome, and if they had something to show that there were polls we hadn't voted on yet - or when we login it tells us there are new polls for us to vote on.

If I'm being cheeky and we're already doing out best in terms of these updates then I do apologise - only trying to discuss possibilities :)

Tbh I kinda like how RS3 has polls going all the time. I wouldn't mind polls being weekly now rather than fortnightly and having polls running 24/7, even if the amount of questions per week were halfed.

Bigger updates could also get 2 weeks still if needed like RS3 does.
