I've been playing Runescape since 2003, and 2020 for Old School was by far my most anticipated year due to Jagex staff hyping up the year to come during Q&A streams. Unfortunately, my expectations were undermined during this years Runefest Old School keynote presentation for a number of reasons.
1) I have been looking forward to group ironman just as much as anyone else if not more, but I almost feel like this is a fill in piece of content to fill in one of the three large pieces of content we can expect each year. I say that because we didnt learn much of anything new at the keynote. Jagex has already been saying for a long time that group ironman will come but it will require a lot of engine work, and they want it just as badly as we do. Well at Runefest we basically got that same response, with no idea when it will actually launch. I feel like this was just a fill in piece of content to fit the big three.
2) Clan updates, I myself am part of a clan and have been active in clans for years in Runescape as a whole but I feel like this clan update will be a bit underwhelming. I was at least expecting some type of clan citidel, yet it looks like all we will have is a fancy interface upgrade, and this will count as another one of the big three updates?
3) The PVM content. PVM is the number one reason I play Old School Runescape and I'm a little disappointed with this PVM announcement. First off, why is the new boss coming out of Morytania? We already have the highest end pvm content there, the Theater of Blood, and its literally right next to it? Why not expend the desert like so many have suggested? I am all for a new group boss, as we have not had one in a LONG time. Recent PVM updates have been solo bosses and raids. However why not expand upon the desert and release a new group boss there? Such as Kalphite king, or the addition of Nex in the Godwars dungeon. Players have been requesting Nex for a long time and its a group boss.
