In my opinion, you might as well make the non-wearable rares untradeable, since they don't even have a cosmetic purpose.

The best and most balanced option for the return of tradeable rares would be to give one of the rares to each player through an interface allowing the player to select which rare they want. The least popular ones will have more value, and prices will evolve based on that.

The benefit of a method like this is that everyone will get a rare, and there won't be any complaints about things being unfair. Since they'll be tradeable people will want to buy them for a high price because there'll only be one for every player. Eventually, not everyone will have rares anymore.

I don't see why some people want the rares just to acquire wealth(these are the people that want the clue scroll/monster/skill drop items/npc shops). In my opinion, rares should be brought back just for the sake of nostalgia from the old runescape, not so they can be hoarded or available only to the elite players. This kind of thing would only bring greed into the community, and I like everything the way it is already.

If you're going to introduce rares, at least do it like this. I'm sure lots of people would buy membership just to have a rare on their account.

Rares have been a symbol of wealth and achievement for as long as i can remember, and i want them to stay that way. Having something to work towards and earn is always a pleasure to me, and i look forward to obtaining one. The one option that i would choose would be to sell them from an NPC for a high amount of gold for a couple of reasons. Firstly, they could never be merched, because no one would buy them above shop value, making them stable. Secondly, they would be easily obtainable for everyone with the money, so you would be standing around buying one for the next 3 days. And finally, they would be very high prices (such as santa ~20m, mask ~40m, purp ~150m, blue ~350m, and so on) so that way it gives someone something to work on such as myself. Rares such werent meant to be obtained through a weeks work of moneymaking in eoc, and i would hope they aren't going to be now. The prices could be based off of eoc's order of phats, but obviously scaled down in price to fit the moneymaking ability of this time period. Thanks :)

Seems like either having them in a shop for a very large, fixed amount of money, or having them be an extremely rare drop from clues would be the best way. I like the shop idea because you can still use the rares to symbolize your wealth or whatever, and they won't seriously mess up the economy, since anyone could get them, provided they have the gold. I just hope whatever happens doesn't mess things up...

Seriously guys. There's some basic things to take in consideration here. I don't think many of you has really understood how important this is for the game. Basically Runescape would be nothing without the rares. There has to be a point of everything you do, and that it, in most cases, to get rich by skilling and showing how much work you've done. That's only possible through a rare item which you can strive towards as a skiller. I personally can tell, that I find this game pointless if it wasn't because I could show the profit of my hard work someday.

If you give those holiday rares to everyone, then they simply aren't a rare anymore. They'll be a lot more common, and then there simply aren't any reason to wear them. The main reason to play games like Runescape is to succeed in both skilling and wealth. You need an item to show that or else we could all just run around in our basic outfit without any armor or clothing. Why play if everyone are equal?

The way they should be added is simply with fairness. That's the importance of this: No one should have a bigger chance of getting them, making it possible for both skillers, new players etc. to get.

Therefore I am against all skilling and monster drops, as that would make it impossible for PK'ers.

Most clue scrolls are always unavailable for many people if it contains combat or skilling in any way (shouldn't be a hard boring work to get. It should be a gift). N

NPC shops are also unfair. Making them for sale at a low price, youre removing the rareness. And at a high price, you're making the rich people richer.

As for now, I only see the fairness in the first option. Random drops.

Keep the items rare, and make it fair for everyone.

1. Would you like rare items return in some form?

I don't know if it's possible, but i'd like to see that if there's a oppertunity that you get a rare/event items each ip adress, only if it's tradeable
2. If you vote for rare items to return, would you like the currently tradeable rare items
to remain tradeable?
Some items, only if it's 1 of each rare each ip

3. How would you like rare items return?

Yes

On christmas there should be a mystery box that every member on 07 should get, geting a christmas cracker,or a santa 1:10. and make them tradeable, there would be 30000-50000 rares...so many rares that I doubt it would ruin the economy, and woulden't be real much in gp anytime soon. and it would still be a collectable, that everyone loves.

1. Distribute them using similar mechanics as you did before (dropping them, holiday events)
I think this is a good idea, but I think change is needed (another method of obtaining holiday items).

2. Appear as a very rare reward from a treasure trails
I don't like this idea, new players and low level players won't be able to obtain these, or even skillers (unless it could be a possible reward from all levels of clue scrolls).

3. Distribute them through very rare monster drops
If it's most of the monster drops, then sure (even low level monsters)

4. Have an NPC shop you can buy rare items from for a small amount of GP
I would not recommend using this method, what's the point of having rares back if you can easily purchase these.

5. Have an NPC shop you can buy rare items from for a large amount of GP
Same with #4, except the botters will be buying them all and no one would be able to buy them if they are always out of stock.

6. Have them given out as rewards from community events
Not fair to those who do not win the events, or who are busy with school, work, etc.

7. Give one of each rare item to every old school player
Again, no point of having rares if everyone has one.

8. Have them appear as very rare drops when skilling
I wouldn't, botters will obtain the holiday items and ruin rares for everyone.

9. Introduce new seasonal events for each of them
That would be nice to see

Original message details are unavailable.

If they were to do something like that, would there be a way to get another mystery box?

For some reason I have an issue with them being called 'rare items,' mainly because of:

'2. Appear as a very rare reward from a treasure trails.'

So people might think that rare clue items are not in the game, like 3rd age, even though you have listed all the rares.

...and because

'4. Have an NPC shop you can buy rare items from for a small amount of GP.'

So, it's just the wording 'rare' I have doubts about.
