I foresee a problem with one of the poll questions...

Question: If the GWD is released, a new degradeable item called Amulet of the Damned would be dropped by K'ril Tsutsaroth. If worn alongside a full Barrows set, the amulet would absorb a fraction of combat damage from any hitsplat over 15 hitpoints.

Having written script for other MMORPGs, I know from first-hand experience that when you start to introduce items that absorb/deflect damage, it becomes a problem in the future when the majority of people have these items. It has the same effect as nerfing weapon damage.

Suddenly, weapons that were once powerful are now considered average, and a cry for new, more powerful weapons comes into light. This starts a chain reaction to implement new protective armors. Next thing you know, the game has gotten way too over-powered and a lot of adjustments need to be made to make it balanced again.

Essentially, what you're going to end up doing, is traveling down the same path that EoC took, not necessarily following in EoC's footsteps, but it will be headed in a similar direction.

The fact that you can wear better armors, which means fewer hit-splats, should be good enough without this damage reduction "Amulet of the Damned". Please take this into consideration when voting. If this question passes, you will have "opened a door that can't be shut". Basically, it WILL have a snowball effect.

It's too bad that such profound truth, must fall on deaf ears and blind eyes.

Not only is barrows fine as it is.
But adding soaking to Osrs is an absolutely horrible idea.

Exactly.

It's simply too bad that most won't realize that before it's too late.

If every single person prayer protection during every fight in wild, how well do you think current weapons would work? Not for jack, essentially Amulet of the Damned is a nerfed down version of protection prayers, (being 20% not 40%) There is a snowball effect, as weapons hit less and less, new harder hitting weapons are going to be introduced, dont believe me, look at the scale of weapon introductions pre/post soak introduction in rs3.

To be honest, i started pking for the most part shortly after the release of claws, but before anything else, no korasi, mauls, anything like that. I found pking to be at its best. (possibly would have been better w/o claws)
Soak is not a road to head down for 3 reasons,
#1 it makes alot of existing game content easier (Jad, Kq, Saradomin, Bandos, *Dharok pking*)
#2 Once there is 1 item with damage soak, that opens the door for more which is a really bad idea (never liked sol spec for this reason in the first place, but its a spec, lasts a set period of time and only works on melee)
#3 There talking about barrows being devalued by bandos? Which is a load of crap by the way, anyone naive enough to actually believe that needs to be beaten with a sock full of quarters. The Amulet of the Damned, when worn, Would devalue every single weapon and piece of armour in the game. Regardless of if it was mage, range or melee based, it gives a 20% reduction across the board to all incoming forms of damage. This devalues the combat triangle completely.
#4 (adding a 4th i know) Dharoks pkers owend from the day barrows was released untill the day eoc was released, I saw skulled dh drop unskulled torva multiple times, thats not including them fighting other dhr's or people in rune. . . . giveing them an additional 20% damage reduction would be insane allowing them to risk alot more hp. . .

Trust me, I've PvP'ed before soaking too. I'm just not seeing a relevant argument to make me say "no" to AotD. All people have been answering my question of "how" is with a "what" explanation. It has no relevance to the question I am asking.

Also, people are complaining about Barrows being "devalued", but something that would help Barrows not be mitigated, and people complain about it? Backwards thinking in my opinion. Personally, I think the Bandos/Barrows talk is hogwash because Bandos is basically glorified Dragon, but still.

Ok, im sorry but youre going to have to expand on the first paragraph, maybe its that i just woke up, but it made absolutely no sense to me, im not sure what your'e referring to bye the "how" part of AotD.

In regards to the second paragraph, i could go back over the last 10-15 pages+several other threads where ive stated that barrows are fine as is, and don't need an increase in combat ability. There releasing bandos, and people are reacting to it like its torva or something, its not, im perfectly happy with the way barrows/bandos relationship is at the moment unchanged.
