You really didnt get my point, did you? When I'm talking about Old School I mean from the beginning to ~2006. Year 2007 was already kinda horrible if you ask me.
The f2p pking was there from the start so no question about it, its Old School - the oldest school. GWD is, for me, new school. I stopped playing soon after it came out and havent really played since that time (ok, ok, made this account when the old wilderness "came back".. still wasnt the same game so I quit again).
But I get it.. there are lots of PvE/PvM guys who would loooove to see every sigle dungeon to come back. But you can do that at EoC, we cant do our thing.
And oh, the GS were REALLY overpowered. You say they are counter to barrows? I see.. you really dont pk? There were only few who had the guts to bring barrows armour and whip to the wilderness. Well sure, ahrims were there but theyr hardly to be considered "defencive armours" (or that expensive). Every single player can bring the GS because of the protective prayer.. That it the main difference.
And hey, you dont have to spam. You will, propably, get your vote. And I will say no.
Well then, your definition of oldschool is different to what JaGex has declared to be oldschool. I am going with the standard convention of Pre 10-Aug-07 = "oldschool"
You don't like GWD, which is fine.
I like GWD, which is also fine.
Now that that is settled, lets talk about the actual knock-on effects to the game, ye?
You cant do your thing in EoC, granted. But nor can I do my thing in EoC...
You see, I do not just enjoy PvM, I enjoy the easy laid back combat mechanism. I 100% resent the fact that humans can now breath fire... like srsly, wtf??
"My thing" also cannot be done in EoC. We're in the same boat, mate.
