I don't wanna see Bonds in OSRS.

Double Edit: The reason i don't wanna see bonds in OSRS, is because you can pay IRL money to achieve goals in OSRS faster.

Err... at some point someone is going to have to buy that bond with IRL money and trade it for gold. We mentioned that in the dev blog too.

The ability to buy gold for oldschool is already there, but I think the risk involved is necessary to keep the game we love. It undoubtedly puts a lot of people off doing it (not only because these clans may scam, but they also use extremely unfair rates).

Adding bonds directly to old school removes this risk. Not only that, the rate they are bought in game for would not be affected by these profit seeking clans bad rates, causing more gold per bond to come into the game.

I do see of course the advantages with buying bonds, unfortunately none of these have ever or will ever apply to me. For those reasons I am swayed against the idea of them being introduced. If there was found a way to ensure that the quantity of gold received per bond bought was standardised (perhaps through a bond shop, which would buy/sell them for a set amount)? Then I might reconsider.

Another point would be that I doubt the demand for them would be very high. They can only be redeemed for membership on old school usually (excluding now, of course). I would imagine that a bond would go on the street for somewhere around 1-1.2m. That's 3 hours work for someone on old school with a half decent money making method. On RS3 they go for 7-9m usually (I think?). Given how much money can be made by most anyone on RS3 that is at most 3 hours work, and for some less than 2. I doubt many people would like to spend more time earning gold purely for their membership just to do it on their preferred game.

I'm not trying to be difficult and my mind may well change but I just see it as a bad plan at the moment.

If bonds are introduced, I will be quitting OSRS.

If you want to combat bots/gold sellers, there are plenty of things you could be doing. Introduce more player moderators, hire someone whose job is exclusively to sift through reports, increase the spawn rate (and rewards) for random events, provide in-game incentives for reporting bots, etc.

Thanks for that Mat, seems like some of these pro-bond people are clueless on how bonds work.
