I think offers should stay in place for 10 hours after the player goes offline. This will make it so you can log in before you go to bed, then log in when you wake up, and all your offers will be re-validated. Would be a pain if you have to re-make all your offers every single day, but if you don't log in daily it will clear your offers.

An alternative would be to have timed offers: a 12 hour offer is free, a 24 hour offer costs 5% of your posting price, a 48 hour offer costs 10% of your posting price, etc

I think I like this second idea. Maybe. But there should be a warning every time unless one requests otherwise.
I'm a huge fan of Construction; love the skill. In particular I'm absolutely fascinated with the
Player-Owned House Dungeon.
My dream is for everyone to be able to build their own personal PvM challenge, one that rivals even current content.

[yellow]Players want to know who they are trading with ... Why do I need to know?  I don't really care whom I am buying from nor whom wants to buy from me.[/yellow] -------------------------------------   [green]Player want to be able to communicate with a player they are trading with easily. ...Well, yes, if I have to find a scrolling chat to click on in order to make my purchase or my sale = "very annoyed and will probably just NOT and go dump it at General Stores or skill for what I need, or ask friends if they have extras.  I just can't handle all those scrolling lines of chat in Trade worlds.[/green] ----------------------------- [yellow]There should be no tax on trades = agreed ![/yellow] ----------------------- [green]Players should be able to obtain an item quickly, ...Yesss !  And Sell also. [/green] ------------------------ [orange]You should be able to trade when you are offline ....... NO, never. [/orange] -------------------- [yellow]It should be possible to see the prices of items ..... Yes, absolutely.[/yellow] -------------------------- [pink]Having said this, I have to admit I have zero knowledge how Merchers work.  I have no idea on how to spot 'price fixing done by Merchers'.  All I know is if I can't afford to buy it, I will skillup for it.  That's part of the game.  My need to SELL is totally dependant upon bankspace.  If it comes down to nitty gritty, the Gen Store gets it.[/pink] ---------------------- [white]I hate bots.  I dislike price manip. I like the GE in RS3. (would like an explanation of how it is manipulated).[/white] ---------------------- [orange][quote] who the trader is [/end quote].  Isn't this naming and shaming/glorifying the Trader?  We will all know who is manipulating won't we? [/orange] ------------------------- [pink]  Actually, just give us the GE in osrs. Ty. please.  Ty ty TY much.[/pink] - .. edit:  I give up. Can't seem to put spaces, tried coloring , tried new paragraphs..... I know tl/dr....... sorry

Love it.

I first joined oldschool because I wanted the player interaction I soon noticed that to sell my items I would have to stand in world 1 for hours on end and to stay logged in and available. Let's be honest.. that's not fun.

And how can anyone say the Grand Exchange wasn't part of the 07 game? It clearly says that the Grand Exchange was released on 26 November 2007.

In my opinion the Grand Exchange didn't ruin anything in the main game. It was the free trade removal, controlled prices and coinshare which manipulated the prices.

Can a mod please explain if the offline trading only applies to selling offers? Being able to buy offline is very unlike a normal auction house and it definitely should not work that way. You should not be able to put up a buy offer for lower than anyone is selling as well. You should need to buy from the people who are currently selling.

To all those stubborn people saying it will ruin the Economy, you are wrong. This is basically like the Zyb Price Guide (which is currently already part of 07) except instead of adding, finding and trading the person. You just buy it.
No matter where the seller is. How could you disagree with this? It's making something easier that ever had to be complicated in the first place.
And to those of you who like World 1 Spam Trade?, have fun battling for hours to get your items sold among that pathetic sea of merchant bots.

Auction house should be in this game.

You say that didn't ruin anything and that controlled prices was one of the things that ruined the game. The sole purpose of the GE was to control the prices...

I doubt you've played RuneScape pre November 2007. The Auction House will ruin the authentic oldschool experience alltogether. Besides, if you think that trading currently is complicated and has to simplified, you seriously need to rethink how you play the game.
