The reason that DMM dies every season is because players died to somebody miles ahead of them in the game due to being able to put much more time into the game (child/unemployed/streamer/rich)
So what needs to be done to make the season last longer is to implement a mechanic where casual players can stay partly close with the other players who wish to play the game all day.
You may say that DMM is an extreme mode where only the top players can play but even those players do not find it fun when they have nobody that they can kill, so both "pros" and "casual" players are needed for DMM to work.
Ways in which this could be achieved:
Add an XP/Level cap per day/week.
This would mean that for the first week all skills are capped to, let's say for example 40? Then each week this would keep increasing until it reaches 99.
This would add great variety and a lot more pking into DMM which is needed, player's wouldn't just be training/questing for days on end. They would easily reach the level cap and then be able to pk.
Quests would still be completable for rewards etc, but the level would not go above the cap.
Another option would be to add a XP SCALE.
This scale would be such as it started on a high xp amount and went down based on the amount of time you played for that day, so you would still be able to get ahead by playing for longer just not as far as usual.
I know some people are going to think this is a terrible idea as people always do when any change is suggested, however I believe this really is needed to make the seasons last longer.
The reason the first season last longer is because people stayed at lower levels for longer and people didn't just power quest/train and then kill everybody.
