an in game forum/message board where you could post your items your trying to buy and sell would fix all the trade issues and such.. people could just make a listing of what their buying or selling and then go about their business... if they log for more then 30 mins.. the posting will be deleted... seems best way to do it.. you could even charge like 1k per post to help take some gp out of the game! this way players can still meet and still have the player to player interactions that the ge doesn't offer but still also have the ease to be able to fine what your looking for quickly

i'm guessing the trick to these worlds will you are going to switch up the IDs to that to legitimate players everything will look the same, but to a bot they will not. This is the only way these worlds could make much of a difference.

However, I know you're not a content Dev Mat, but there are other ways of detecting things, such as by models or name. They will just adapt and grab models or object/npcs names and appear to be as human as any other player when hopped.

You really need to go about this a different way.

So basically its like this:

1.Your suspected of being a bot so your sent to a hidden world.

2.just because you are sent there does not mean you will be banned.

3.While there you can switch back to your previous world if and/or when you realized you are even on a different world.

4.While the players are in the world they will be watched closely (no offense but sounds like a peeping tom :P )

5.You will then basically use bots caught there to test ways of detecting and banning them.

That sounds all good except how is this any different from the back and forth you have been doing with bots for over 11+ years now? And how many innocent players will be caught in the crossfire? And how will this help players actually get a chance at getting these resources? And how will it stop those botted resources from getting flooded into the OSRS economy?

You know these botters will program to realize how they are detected and change up their routines to make them harder to detect. And be programmed so that once they realize they are not on one of the official worlds they will just switch back. It does not stop gold farmers (players playing the game to gain gp to sell to gp sellers). It does not stop merchant botters or mass chat spammers.

I'm struggling to see an upside to this to be honest. Yes some will be trapped. But so will some regular players. And those players do not even have to be botting to be caught up in it. And this will only be effective until the botters figure out how you are doing it and circumvent it meaning then you'll be catching more regular players then bots. O_o

Take for instance you're in world 302. Will you still see world 302 at the top of your friendslist when you're sent to the "bot world" / which world will friends see?

You should see the numbers of the worlds they are on.

How will this target merch bots or runite bots, I wonder?

Sadly, this won't work on Merchanting bots. But it should on runite bots.
