A new skill isn't very "old school" like. I think this is a very foolish choice when you can be reworking a lot of dead content on already existing skills. You won't even have more than 50 Maxed players by the end of 2014..

Doing things like this really jeopardize the legitimacy of the game. Just smh.

Can't play easyscape Rs3 because easy, and soon can't play old school because becoming a joke. Awesome.

Possession Skill

Symbol will be an "*" or the Greek Letter "Chi"

Purpose of the skill - For me to possess 13 monsters or people, at this point there's not really much time to be too picky...

How to level it? Spend time in a library (Varrock would be a start, but need a bigger library), reading about ancient wars and rituals. Every 10 levels you would be better at decrypting the research notes and have access to more advanced notes (granting more XP). About every 7-9 levels, you would be able to possess NPCs with either implanting part of your mind, soul, or heart (Mind lowering Magic, Soul lowering Prayer, and Heart lowering HP) into up to 13 NPCs (at 99 you could possess 13 things at once).

Should you die while possessing any creature, you will be reborn on the spot using their life as a sacrifice (will only spawn with 1/3 of your Max HP).

For those wondering, I'm not serious about this (it would be funny to see though). Since I know many people won't even read this far (doubt they'd get pass the "Skill Possession" part to be honest), so I'm probably wasting my time writing these 2 sentences... oh well.

Who the **** cares about how many maxed players there are? People just want a new skill to break away from the monotony of all the other skills (pretty sure almost everyone on here has either maxed all skills, 1 skill or came close to maxing a skill on RS3 before it went to hell), so they just want something fresh, especially for the skilling community (which hasn't gotten many updates period).

By the way, that last sentence is a joke in itself. Can you not even attempt to write a full sentence?

Hey Jagex,

Allow me to just get a few quick words across on this one. I am totally interested in a new Runescape skill and what it might look like. However, please don't guarantee a new skill. If the community does not want a new skill right now, it should not be done.

If we're polled with options which guarantee one of those options will be released, a lot of people will be extremely disappointed.

Thanks for your consideration,

Soar

The final skill will be open to a vote for all players and will need 75% approval to pass. I'm pretty sure I said that in the dev blog somewhere.

The ammount of hate in this thread sickens me. I should not even reply to you doom-sayers but I feel like I have to. Runescape is not dieing! In fact, the playerbase is growing. Low ammount of people online? That doesn't say that the playerbase is dropping. Jagex has hired a full-time botbuster recently, and if you would watch the twitch livestreams every once in a while or keep up to date with what's going on on the forums you would know.

Oldschool Runescape is and has never been meant to have no updates. It's all about what the community wants and if we didn't want a new skill then this PDC wouldn't be here. You one-percenters just have to deal with it.

I don't feel hate at all, just worry and concern, that the game I have only just re-discovered is about to change the way original Runescape did, until I no longer wanted to play any more.

I loved Runescape when I started to play way back in 2006. But over the years it changed, by the addition of new skills I didn't enjoy at all, and when they introduced
the Squeal of fortune and all the other stuff you could buy with real money, that finished it for me.

I never intended to come back, but at the end of January I came back for a look and found Old School.
It was a daunting thing to start from scratch, but I did and am having such fun getting up all my skills again, and doing the quests again.

I still say it's much too soon to add another skill. Please give us time to raise the skills here already, first.

Add some mini games to add some new fun.

I want to playing Runescape for many years to come. Let's keep Old School the fun game it used to be, and not change too much when it isn't broken :P

I don't get why you won't introduce Summoning. It's something that's fun to do and can be profitable as well as it might boost some of the prices of certain items.

I'd love summoning to be introduced in OSRS. Not only because of familiars, but also because of pets :/

I don't think any completely new skills will fit into OSRS. I can't even come up with a skill that would fit even slightly.

Riding skills don't make sense with the teleports we currently have.

Sailing also doesn't really fit. I can't even see how it would be introduced and what it would actually provide.

They only "skill" I could come up with is something like trading or whatever.

New skill, why?????

I left Runescape because of all the way everything had changed so much. I only started to play again at the end January 2014, when I found out about Old School.

How can you call it 2007 if you are going to keep adding so many different new things to the game? We DON'T want new skills added. If that's what you want, play EOC.

I have played Runescape since 2006 and was sooooooooooo delighted to discover my game back the way I first remember it.

If you change it like this, you will lose many players, for good this time.

Make as many mini games as you want, just don't add any more skills PLEASE :(

Agreed. Aside from being completely unnecessary, a new skill would really kill the old school aspect even more than the typical game update would. Just make new minigames and improve existing content if you're going to do this >_>

I think it would make more sense to let the community decide if we want a new skill at all before gathering design ideas and wasting those peoples time.
